This must me one of the most boring and repetitive classic Mario themes.
Super Mario Bros 3 is like Super Mario 3D Land and New Super Mario Bros 2 Super Mario World is like New Super Mario Bros U.
I beat this game about a week ago. My favorite world is water land and I loooove the frog suit =)
not gonna lie to you, i think so. 1 was more cinematic and it had deep characters ( well not deep, but at least they had backstories) and the storyline felt different, but awesome because of that, plus the game was more challenging. 2 felt more like an extension of that. they were both great, but 1 takes the cake this time. so yeah you are right.

Also SMG doesn't have Yoshi but SMG2 does, same with SMB3 and Super Mario World :D
You might be thinking of the version on Super Mario All-Stars, which was a compilation game released on the SNES. The original Super Mario Brothers 3 was indeed on the NES.
...Still the best 2-d platformer out there.

yeah i know that i wouldnt say there is no variation on worlds and to be fair they got rid of a lot of things but instead we got, yoshi, spinning jump, secrets, cape and inflation and of course and overall fantastic game on its own i know this might sound like small additions, but they certainly separate mario 3 from mario world same concept, new ideas
Yeah but they downgraded the powerups (where is the tanooki suit and the hopping shoes?), lack of variation in the worlds, they got rid of the toad houses and the large inventory

In a sense he did compare them, although there's nothing wrong with that when it's all boiled down. I'm not trying to say it's bad; in fact, it's easy to argue that I did as well. All I'm saying though is that each are amazing, but still different, experiences even if they have major similarities.

I like the SNES version a little more mainly because that's what I spent (1994-1997) playing in my SNES. I remember my older sister owning the NES version. Amazing how long Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars can last you. All I had aside from those were Mario Paint, Yoshi's Safari, Super Scope, and the occasional (rare) rental. Through this, I learned to appreciate one game before moving on to the next. Nowadays, I see people buy a game and just let it collect dust.
This and Donkey Kong were pretty much my first games which is what got me hooked lol, i've must have beaten both games over 15 times.

Well some were cool I guess, but as a whole I could've done without them.
but what about star road or places that gave you as many lives and power ups as you wanted or secret levels? werent those cool to you?
I can respect that, it's all a matter of opinion anyway. The secrets to me were sometimes tedious, and I didn't like that the only reward you got for getting all the secrets was a star next to your file name. I guess we just have different perspectives of looking at those 2 games.
i disagree with secrets not being entertaining because i do think they were, i guess gliding was kinda of broken though, but it was fun in certain areas and it was an easier game. i still think it is greater that 3 anyways
The secrets weren't that entertaining, the dragon coins only gave you a 1-up and did not count for 100%, and the level design in mario games are usually awesome in their own ways. The cape in my opinion was like the infinite P-Wing in 3, due to how broken the gliding was. Overall the game is much easier than 3 too. However, I will admit that Yoshi and the spin jump are awesome.

i actually liked super mario world more than 3 i mean there was no feather or boot or hammer or minigames and you couldnt use items in the map, but instead we got yoshi, the cape, the spinning jump, special coins to collect in each level and more secrets in the world for us to find and of course new abilities too the level design was awesome too yeah a lot of that stuff was missing, but instead we got new, fun and incredible improvements to make up for it thats why i like world better
Actually, world felt very bland compared to 3. I didn't see many improvments and they took out a lot of features that were awesome in mario 3.

He didn't compare the two though, he simply stated the fact that the 2 games evolved in the same way. That SMG 2 did with 1 and SMW did with SMB3
Just a classic game. Brings back old memories. I remember when I had to spend like 6 hours going through the whole game on my NES. Now at least you can take breaks with emulators.

Yet SMB3/SMG1 seem so original, and so much more atmospheric. In my opinion, though, there is no reason to compare either of those two sets. They're both perfect in their own ways.
As someone who didn't grow up with an NES I beat SMB3 about 10 times, 2 of which in the same week. I just love it. Super Mario World I beat 3 times and loved the cape and yoshi. Both are really great but SMB3 I will beat 10 more times and Super Mario World I might replay one or two more times. Idk, SMB3 is just simple and easy to pick up and play. Super Mario World just doesn't draw me back in quite the same I guess.
Ah, memories. Although I have a soft spot for the underwater theme from Super Mario World. I know it's the same theme you hear throughout the game but something about it is just so..peaceful.

well this is how i always saw it super mario bros 3 is like super mario galaxy super mario world is like super mario galaxy 2 3 is a fantastic game, but world takes that and makes it even better
This is probably my least favourite underwater theme from the series. It's still great mind.
This is easily my favorite Mario game on the NES, but I still can't decide which one I prefer between this and Super Mario World. SMB3 was very memorable thanks to all the varied worlds, with my favorite being the Big Island. I'll probably replay this game this year actually, it's been a while.
