I have spent lots of summers playing this game with my best friend. I would typically control the helicopter while he took control of the jeep. Tremendously fun and quite hard. In order to further increase the difficulty we sometimes forced us not to shoot during certain regions of the game so that we would only concentrate on avoiding enemies and their bullets. As I said, plenty of fun =)
There is something really quite strange about stumbling upon things like this and reading what people think of something I wrote 23 years ago. Yes, the orchestral hit sample @ 2:15 is out of tune, I sampled it from a Vaughn Williams track on my Mum's tape recorder which I think ran a little too quick, but back on ole' Noisetracker, alas there was no way to retune samples. For that you had to wait until Protracker! Thanks for uploading, Happy 2013!

@Puttrik87 Super Swiv/Firepower 2000 is a direct sequel to this game. There was also a genesis version called Mega Swiv.

Swiv eh? This might sound ignorant, but how does this relate to the game "Firepower 2000" (sometimes seemingly titled creatively "Super Swiv") to the SNES? To me it seems like either this or the other is a re-release just on a different system (i don't know of the dates so i can't really tell). Thank you so much Supra! I remembered playing something like this when I was a kid, but I couldn't remember it's name. Now to get it somehow and let nostalgia flow. The game I played seems to be Swiv 3D but same series though.

Very creative oldschool Amiga music, back when you didn't want to press Start so you could listen to the title themes. I've always been impressed by how these composers could push the limits of the soundchip. Swiv is a top-down shoot 'em up where you control either a helicopter or a jeep, or play with a friend and have the 2 vehicles at the same time.
