I remember the first time fighting this fella. All was going good until I saw Sif dragging his poor paws because his health was so low to the extent his moves was slagging. I swear, I felt freaking sad at this point and as I killed him I was like...."Was this...worth it? Was killing a wolf who guarded his best friend worth killing?" These are the few moments Dark Souls has to make you feel this way and my gosh it almost gave me a roller coaster of feelings.
Yea that series in general never really makes you feel like a good guy hell even killing gwyn is like destroying an entire civilizations work or like in 2 all that nashandra was doing was following her instincts of survival and we kill her because of some crazy green lady who tells us alot of stuff we have to do for no good reason
I wonder what life lessons From Software is trying to show us within Dark Souls.
And after that you learned about the special cutscene you have if you do him after DLC, you tried it, then you cried, righ?

4 people tried to block the sword but didn't have enough stamina.
I thought I could only recognize Shimomura's style, but after playing about five games that Sakuraba composed for (which I'd thought were completely unrelated!) I can recognise his style too.
I like seeing the comment about not playing the game yet as of one year ago, and then it being posted as one of his favorite games ever today.

The track fits the fight perfectly as it isn't the happiest fights ever. Once you defeat Sif, you don't get the same "yes, I did it!" feeling you get after killing O&S for example. Instead you get the "damn, I didn't want to do that" feeling.
As amazing as the music in this game is, it's hard to REALLY pay attention to it while getting hit left and right by the bosses xD
This guy tore my poor Sorcerer a new one when I first encountered him. After fighting those damn rolling rats or whatever they were, I found that door and I was almost of magic to begin with, this boss just steamrolled me.

I know that people are really wasteful with statements like this but: for me Dark Souls is the new Crowned King of all the Videogames after ca. ~2005. It has something nostalgic on it although this game is rather new. For me it is utter perfection in it's genre.

While listening to this track, I instinctively except to hear the "You died" sound because of all the times I died against him.
Hah, I had the same feeling as to the fog gate! I never expected it to be empty, nor to see a sword in the ground, nor to fight a fuckin' gigantic wolf wielding such sword. It seemed to me unfair...
This dude's a bitch, but the feeling when you finally beat him after countless tries is indescribable

The Ornstein and Smough music is pretty damn epic too. Suits the fight.
Sakuraba wrote the score for Dark Souls? Never would've guessed. Gotta give him props though, the music fits the game's mood perfectly and really adds to the tension of fighting the (mostly) really tough bosses.
@SupraDarky Oh you really should play this game, its a beautiful masterpiece of concept, atmosphere and feeling.
@bogulmon I know. I would say the game patronized me more than I ever could back though. It is a very well made game in some areas, and I did try to enjoy it, but it felt a lot worse than demons souls somehow, especially if you didn't go online for help. There' s a new patch that has helped though, apparently. And I agree the mechanics in Skyrim aren't always as satisfying.
@robbyalp Reducing Dark Souls to just difficulty is not setting the record straight, not in the least. Dark Souls feels more fulfilling mechanically than any game I can remember in the past few years. Skyrim gives a great feeling of freedom and is a great game in it's own right. Also, saying "a bunch of Japanese people trying their best" is very patronizing.

I won't spoil it, but the last boss music is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in a video game. Oh god... Praise the Sun!

Playing both this and Skyrim intermittently, anb being completely honest, both are great, but I do lean a bit more towards a little 'Jolly Co-operation.' You should play Dark Souls, its too good to miss out on.
It makes sense that people on a dark souls ost vid are saying they prefer Dark Souls, but to set the record straight, a bunch of Japanese people trying their best to make a game as hard as possible and get away with it have not achieved as much as Skyrim has.
@SupraDarky do it man, you WILL NOT be disappointed, and btw check this song out(Gwyn, Lord of Cinder ), last boss's theme, such a beautiful piano piece, for such a brutal, relentless battle

I suck at this game. In fact, I want to just hate it completely cause of how hard it is, but if there's one thing I love, it's epic boss fights, and if there's one thing this game has, it's epic fucking boss fights

@AdeyAdey The gameplay. How unforgiving the game is. The unique multiplayer. And I feel that everything flows so much better in this game than in Skyrim. And I love Bethesda, I played the fuck out of both Fallout games and I even enjoyed playing Brink, but I'm honestly disappointed in what I've seen of the game.
@ItsFizikal All I know about this game is from a couple screenshots when I checked some previews, including the one in this video. So I already knew there was a giant wolf boss, though I didn't know he wielded a sword. ;P I'm sure the game will have plenty of surprises waiting for me.

@LocoJoe I have and enjoyed what I played of Dark Souls, I got roughly to Lost Izalith I think? However, I'm just curious as to what you think Dark Souls has over Skyrim as I can't seem to see it. It seems like a more old fashioned and sort of...linear game, outdated if you will but it adds to how unique it is, and how great it is. I'm not bashing Dark Souls, I really like it and I do intend to finish it soon.
@FunkyKarim93 You've never played 2D Zeldas have you? Plenty of entries in the series have had challenge before. If you mean 3D Zelda + Challenge then yes, it's a shocker, but the enemies and puzzles and such aren't push overs. They aren't mind bogglers, don't think I mean anything really hard, but it's not laughably easy, you have to think for at least a second before you get it, like in an average games difficulty(i.e it's not Mario difficult anymore)

this boss reminded me of the film Princess Mononoke. Soundtrack to this game is incredible, i love all the songs.

Moonlight Butterfly theme is great too... really disconcerting, not a typical boss theme at all and really makes you uneasy when fighting the boss! lol

This is probably the game I'll be playing after Skyward Sword. I find the soundtrack by Sakuraba really interesting, and you wouldn't think a track like this would play during a fight against a giant wolf. At first it might not seem like it would work, but I'm sure it makes it all quite beautiful and memorable.
