Easily my favorite game franchise. The nostalgia of playing Metroid Fusion after getting home from school every day is killing me.

Just started playing the Metroid games a few weeks ago, I'd been missing out; they're really impressive and I've only played the original Metroid, Metroid 2 and Super Metroid.

@SupraDarky If I were to ever choose games that I would replay yearly, Super Metroid would easily be one of them. As is though, I don't think I'm going to do that anytime soon, but it's an idea for the future... There are 16 games that I consider myself a "big fan" of and will defend them to the death, and 8 which I consider "god tier". Super Metroid is my 3rd favorite game of all time. Metroid Prime is my #13.

@SupraDarky Now that you mention it, yeah it does'nt make snense for nintendo not to. Metroid just does'nt print enough money eh? would've wanted a new version of supermetroid on 3ds..

Are we really going to just have this overused word represent the legacy of such a magnificent, beloved series? This special collection of games and game music, is merely epic? @KyaputenFarukon Why would Nintendo hate people that give them money? Also, Miyamoto is the main reason why scanning exists in the Metroid Prime games, so why would he help with that if he disliked the series?
@Kwpolska Metroid might not have been a flagship series, but from the very beginning innovative, one of the darker Nintendo franchises, and a fan favourite. The fact that Nintendo is not giving it much attention is rather sad.
Metroid will always be my favorite Nintendo series. Not a single game has disappointed me (though, I have never played Other M).
@SupraDarky Metroid isnt as popular as mario and zelda over in japan, which is why there arent more metroid games and why they dont give it any special promotions because there is no money in it

metroid is my second favorite game series. super metroid and prime alone beat almost every other franchise. since i'm only 19, i first heard this theme in smash bros. and it was my instant favorite and samus was my favorite fighter as well.

@Masz52 Actually, I thought the Prime games where awesome (unfortunately, I've only been able to play 1). However, I really think it's time for a 2D game. The graphics today may be awesome and life-like, and the controls and game-mechanics may be innovative and easy-use, but it still, there will always be that nostalgia for the old games. I'm sure many fans will agree with me, and Nintendo needs to listen to it's fans.
@pervysage35 How was Prime not "good ol' Metroid?" It was literally Super Metroid in 3D in terms of gameplay. Though yes, I also want a new 2D game. I can't shake the feeling that Nintendo wants to forget about Metroid after Other M however...
After Metroid M... I think Metroid is done for. A 3DS release of Super Metroid would be great, it's my brother's favorite game but I've yet to really try it out.
Man this one is as classic as they come.... hell it coulda been the 1000th in my opinion... plus it has a very triumphant feel
@SupraDarky What they should do is either make a new 2D SIDE-SCROLLING Metroid for the 3DS (called Metroid Dread:), or make a SM remake. No 3D, no Melee attacks or 1st person, no people, no spoken lines or in-game cut-scenes. Just good ol' Metroid.
Hmm... First heard this song in Super Smash Brothers, it was always one of my favorites! But hearing it in 8-Bit... it's like I can hear the history, and feel the weight of awesomness on it. Thank you so much Supra :3 I may not have grown up with Metroid, but I can feel the nostalgia!

@SupraDarky Shigeru Miyamoto was the one who wanted stuff for Mario and Zelda, not to mention having upcoming games and all. Metroid creator I'm thinking didn't have a lot to work with after Other M between it's poor sales and lower reviews.

Two things you didn't know about Metroid: *Gravity Suit sucks in Other M because the director of the game thought purple would look stupid in serious cutscenes..... (seriously) *Samus turns into a morphball because it was too difficult to make a crawling animation (in other words the developers were too lazy) And another thing: yesterday was its 25 anniversary and Nintendo didn't even bother to mention it....

This one's a classic. Well it's been 25 years since this game's release, just a tad younger than I am. One of my favorite series of all time and I still go through Super Metroid at least yearly. I'm quite disapointed Nintendo didn't do anything special for the anniversary, like they did with Mario and are doing with Zelda.
