Actually, Top Spin doesn't suck. It is just a lot of players use it wrong that makes people hate it. You don't fling your self into foes, you just don't want to make a lot contact with the enemy as it takes less energy. While not as bad as people make it out to be, it is pretty unpredictable. That idea of the Top Spin sounds better though.

No, you're not the only one. I've thought the two sounded similar since I first heard "Burn." (I heard this first.) Many Japanese video game music composers were influenced by Deep Purple, so it's hardly surprising. Between this, the final boss music from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and the boss battle music from Blue Dragon, Deep Purple's influence kinda shows through, regardless of the era. (And, on an unrelated note, Deep Purple has an album coming out at the end of April.)

I never really liked top man's music, it's partly why he's my least favorite robot master (yes, below sheep man). My favorite stage theme from MM3 is probably either snake man or shadow man.
One of my favorite themes from the game. Right up there with Snake Man, just a bit behind Hard Man.

He has no practical use for mankind, his weapon is one of the lamest ones on the whole series, the easiest boss on MM3...But damn what an awesome theme he has!

This tune was etched into my memory when trying and failing to beat it when I first played MM3.
Back from a nice couple days with family I hadn't seen in a while. Makes for big filled days, which is far from relaxing but worth it when it's with people you care about. I've always liked the buzzing instrument used in this theme (like at 0:20). I think I've uploaded my 3 favorite robot themes now from this game: Snake Man, Spark Man and this one.
