Very late reply, but I adore X5's soundtrack. It just seems like they were experimenting with different styles and the result was a very diverse soundtrack with some great tunes. Mattrex's theme is amazing.

And about the X series. * X's OST kicks ass. Storm Eagle, Boomer Kuwanger and Spark Mandrill are awesome, and the rest is very good and powerful too. * I don't remember X2 and X3 very well. * X4 OST is inferior to the SNES games'. * X5 and X6 are clearly worse than the SNES ones, though the boss theme and a couple of other tracks are interesting. * X7 and X8 are horrible. You can also find some good tracks in other MM games, like Network Transmission.

My opinion would differ from that one now, though... * 1 has a good OST. * 2 and 3 both have outstanding OST's, probably 3 being better than 2. * 4 is the best OST from the series. * 5 and 6 have a couple of good tracks, but the overall quality is inferior. * 7 is not up to par with the NES games. * 8 is BAD. * Megaman & Bass is somewhat unknown to me. * 9 and 10 from Wii are both excellent, especially Magma Burning, Flash in the Dark and Nitro Man's theme.

I'm ordinarily a fan of SupraDarky's choices and I've found a lot of great music through him, but this is sub-par. I could see someone liking it because it resembles the actual game's music, which may be better on the DS than on Youtube (And remembering that tune through hearing this one), but to someone who is just listening to this objectively, it is not very good. The chords are alright, but the melody is unimpressive, very much a generic anime-styled-game theme.

@axlar1 Yeah, Megaman 8 OST sucked pretty bad. Megaman 9 soundtrack is truly excellent, one of the best. And MegaMan 10 OST, while not as good as MM9's, is still very good and it has the best song of all the entire saga: Nitro Man.
@axlar1 I don't think it's the best, but it's true that MegaMan 3 has a good OST. Anyway, I still keep my opinion that only two tracks are outstanding: Snake Man and Spark Man. Spark Man is one of the best of the series though in my opinion. Not everyone likes the same things. I like a certain style of composition (in minor, with a defined melody, a good bass line, use of dominant and secondary dominants, etc.). Maybe you like another thing, and that's OK too.
for me 1st Snake Eyes, 2nd Esperanto, 3rd Through the Lightning, 4th Wonder Panorama and 5th Twisted Vine are the best tecno capcom music!

Mega Man ZX goes down as my favorite Mega Man game. Ever. And the music's "real name" on the ZX soundtrack is "Snake Eyes" But it's so awesome, I don't care what its name is. It gets me pumped for that Serpent Battle!
Do so. It's ABSOLUTELY worth it. Kinda hard in the beginning but it becomes loads of fun once ya get into it.
In a particular way yes,however unlike Axl,Model A is more cowardly since he wanted to get out of any maverick situation along with Grey/Ashe of course,but at times he tends to act valiant during the game.
model A is essentially axl. It's pretty obvious. if you play ZXA you'll see why.

One of my favorite stage themes from ZX! I also thought it was really cool that they remixed the game over theme for the final stage.

I want to play megaman ZX, but I can't find the freaking game anywhere for sale. I played ZX advent, but honestly that didn't feel much like a megaman game considering the main character doesn't even look like or even have the same feel as Classic, X, or even the Zero Series. Honestly the one thing this series has going for it is nostalgia at this point.
Yes. The whole exploration system is alot like Metroid, which I find lovely. And the game is a pain, which is another +1. Try it yourself.

I think it's supposed to represent the original Zero that was a maverick hunter in Megaman X and the Copy Zero or Omega Zero from the Megaman Zero series. But that's just my guess.
I, did not play any originial megaman series except 8 only. I also have megaman legends 2, but legends is totally different story from megaman series. If you wanna know the history of Megaman series, I recommend you playing what others said about originals, (since I'm not expert on that series) and all the X series from 1-6. then I recommend you play Megaman Zero 1-4 and Megaman ZX and Advent. I gave up playing Megaman Zero cuz it was too hard so I read Wikipedia for the plot.
I understand why ZX model would have to look like Zero from Megaman zero,,, but I wonder why Model A has to look like zero also? If the game is called Megaman shouldn't there be some models that is similar to "Megaman" besides the obvious model X?

if your just starting i would recommend Mega man X5 but if you want to understand the story better or not want to ruin anything sytart with megaman 2 it was alot harder bvut still pretty fun
if you have never played megaman, i would reccomend getting 1-4, and the first X game. especially 2 and 3 must be played since they hold possibly the best theme's in the 8-bit history.

Mega Man ZX takes place 200 years after the end of the Zero series (Zero 4), which is ultimately about 500 years or so after the original Mega Man games. Even though the Zero games were incredibly dark and depressing, the world of the ZX series is considerably brighter and more of a futuristic utopia, with plenty of natural environments as well. Much of the game's backstory follows directly from the Zero series, so if you're a fan of the Zero series, you can't NOT play this game--it's amazing.
It's a great game, but it's very short. Some of the backstory comes right from the Zero series, but if you haven't played a Mega Man game before, you should still be able to get into the swing of things. If you find the game too hard, you might want to practice with some other 2D platformers beforehand (ideally other Mega Man games as they all play very similar, but I think any platformer will do as long as it's not brutally hard).
This game looked good. I've always wanted to try a Megaman game... Is this one ok for someone who's pretty much never played Megaman in their life? Is it good?

Zero 4 is the last part of the Zero games. That guy on the box isn't Zero, it's the character Vent. You can play as either Vent or Aile (Aile is more awesome) and transform into a fusion of X and Zero, called Model ZX.
Tell me about it. I've still yet to beat this level. i can barely beat all the Pseudoroids. It's just that i constantly take a beating from Serpent.

Actually there is a melody there in the beggining, and if you can't follow it I honestly feel bad for you.
Yup, just listen to this track... * From 00:00 to 00:15, it lacks melody completely. There's just a synth bass and soft string in the background * From 00:15 to 00:30 there's a simple melody with about 5 or 6 different notes. * Then the song starts and you can tell the melody, but the chord succession lacks emotion and the feeling is just not right for a videogame. It's something like VI, V, I, (IV) --- VI, VII, I... which in this tonality translates to G, F#m, Bm, E --- G, A, Bm.

Well, if you like music with electronic percussion and soft instruments lacking defined melody and chords, then Zero and ZX music will be your choice. If, on the other hand, you like well arranged tunes with a solid melodic line and strong percussion, your choice will be Megaman 1 through X (except Megaman 8 and Megaman & Bass).
Wow, I could not disagree more. I think the music in the Zero games and the ZX games is by far the best the series has ever seen. But I guess everyone has their own personal tastes....

well no one have the same tastes, but cannot agree with megaman 3 opinion, in fact i think it have a great soundtrack, and megaman 7 have a awesome sountrack but "springman" is horrible indeed. theres no megaman 9 unless u call it R&Forte, Megaman X,X3(SNES),X5 have the best OST on the X's series IMO. and yes megaman lost his way. i've been playin mm since megaman 2
I didn't play all the levels of X5 and X6, but the musics from the ones I did play sounded like a porn movie music.
From Megaman 7, there are two other great tracks you missed. Burstman and the last Wily level both have very well done songs. I think X5 and X6 had amazing songs by the way :P
It's not bad... but MegaMan lost its way gradually. MegaMan 1 and 2 had great soundtrack. There was a pitfall in MegaMan 3 with only 2 good songs. Megaman 4 soundtrack was great, possibly the best one. MegaMan 5 & 6 were bad. MegaMan 7 Intro was a very good song, but aside from that, only Slashman was good. MegaMan 8 & 9 had no good songs at all. MegaMan X soundtrack was not that bad, but the only really good song is Storm Eagle Stage. And from X2 on, no game had a single good track.
