Not all that underrated. It's on the Sega Collections. As it should be, since Ristar is one of those games that ages quite well.
Sega would probably try to revive this on Kinect or something, forcing you to stretch your arms to get Ristar to do the same. Still, a revival of this series would be cool.

@DivineBanana That's what I meant by Ristar concept came first. During the creation of Sonic, they went through multiple gameplay designs one of which was Ristar's. Meaning, if they dropped Ristar's play style before going with the Sonic we know, that would mean Ristar came first. Technically no one had done it before since this means it was from the exact same people.
@DivineBanana Sonic was made based upon the idea of Mario but faster as confirmed in an interview with the creator. Or if you're saying Ristar came from Sonic, the idea happened before Sonic was made. Comparing the two games' gameplay they really can't be compared, far too different.

What made Ristar special was he did what no one else had ever done before. He was a fresh idea.

As soon as you hear it, you definitely know this song was made by the same people that did the Sonic music.
They once brought back some of their forgotten characters in Sega All Stars Racing, so who knows if our old Ristar will return

The kind of Genesis sound I like, which could also fit right in a Sonic game. I wonder if Sega would ever want to revive this mascot, I'd love that. As long as they do it right of course.
