SotC has a WAY better camera than Mario 64. I'm pretty sure that Mario 64 was the first game to have an adjustable camera so it makes sense that it would seem dated. Most dual-analog platformers have near perfect camera, like Sly Cooper.
I honestly don't remember SM64's camera being that bad. It and SOTC should not be bashed for their camera issues so much - I can probably count the number of times the camera went silly in both games on my last playthroughs of each on one hand. To be fair, I've come to accept that fighting the camera is an integral part of 3D platformers...

Yes he sure was! However, both games' final bosses are pretty disappointing compared to this game's, and I'm saying this as someone whose favorite Mario game is Galaxy 1.

I remember getting to the last Bowser boss in Super Mario 64 when I was a kid. The organs and overall atmosphere of the battle let me know that shit was going down, it was so awesome. There was such a buildup to the fight, and I'd been playing for months so finally making it that far was a milestone. SO LONG-SE BOWSER!

@TheRealDEMAND ...he's always been pretty goofy, IMO. He can also look pretty menacing if they really want to, no wonder Nintendo made him Mario's main enemy instead of DK, Bowser's just such a greatly designed VG character :).

I think this was one of the most legit Boss Battle Themes ever. Nintendo has good Boss Battle Music, I love hearing Ganon's Final Theme when you face him in Ocarina of Time. There's this one and even for the newer games too, like Mario and Luigi Partner's In Time, the 2nd part of that last boss theme was astounding.
I LOVED This song in the game! I went to fight him and just listen to the song ignoring the fight XD

@OutlawCatx Yes, that IS Nintendo's demographic, and they should stick to it. The only downside is that when their fans get older, they tend to want more hardcore stuff from Nintendo, but the cold truth is that they've moved on to the next generation of kids. Still, if the rumors are true, Nintendo's next console will appeal to kids and hardcore fans.

I remember the day I faced off against him 11 years ago. I remember it as though it were yesterday. I called my older brother to my room to show him I beat Bowser for the final time. That day will live on in my memory forever. =)

Screw Dead Space, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, all of them. Scariest video game moment ever will always belong to those damn endless stairs going up endlessly for 15 minutes, turning around to see you haven't moved one inch. THAT'S damn scary. Scarier than something popping out and screaming for two seconds.
@futbolmario13 Super Mario Galaxy 1's Daredevil Comet fight with Bouldergeist will be horrifyingly carved into my skull forever. THAT was tougher than anything I faced in Super Mario 64-which is still my favorite game of all time, though.
Couldn't have asked for a better final boss for Super Mario 64, the last Mario game that actually posed a challenge for gamers. Heard Super Mario Galaxy 2 is difficult but I just bought it so we shall see.

I remember that it was half the stage, half the music that made this fight so intimidating. Though the effect diminishes after you lose 50 times. lol Love it.
This is a great piece, but it's not the same without the sound effects of battle.

@SupraDarky I loved this game, too. The game is indeed scary for it's era, but the scariness is replaced. However, the epicness has not, and it is one of the few official games with a live piano in the house :P

After defeating Bowser two times before the final battle, I wasn't really expecting any difference in the music and the way the battle plays through. Needless to say, Koji Kondo only needed a pipe organ to completely blow away what was my perception of a final boss in a game.
And that is a scary image of Bowser O.o He should always be portrayed that way.

This was an epic organ piece for the game's final battle. There was some scary stuff in that game especially when you're kid. The big eel, the haunted house (the piano), the endless hall etc. And I loved it.
