The begining music kinda remind me of a woody area, i specifically think of the shire from lotr, I am not sure why...

Fantastic game. I was horribly disappointed when they cut the simulation bits, they were so good...
I wish they would remake this. Same game and gameplay just different textures. Add a bunch more new lands to rid monsters of. Fuck. I want that so bad.
@scorpion4237 Dark Cloud 1 and 2 on the PS2 is your answer, developed by many of the same people who did the SNES Quintet games (Actraiser, Soul Blazer, Terranigma, Illusion of Gaia).
This sounded like Soul Blazer so much. Same team, I know.
Keep in mind that they actually ported this game to the mobile platform, but took out the simulation part. That is what made this game unique. I am sorry, but Square-Enix is incapable of reviving a series.
this song speaks to me of my dad's apartment. he's dead now, but when I was little i would watch my brother play this game there. I can still smell the cigarettes and plastic and firecrackers and candles when i hear this song.

it was a pretty popular game in the US at least when it came out... I think It's not one of the more obscure titles for sure.

@SupraDarky first, thoroughly enjoy your best vgm music lists. Maybe ive missed it, but any love for Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse (SNES). Id love for Square to bring this game back. But nowdays theyd make the main dude emo and it would either spend way to long in development or be on Unreal 3 and suck.
Sadly this game got poorly marketed, at least in Europe. Another thing is the audience. Many people probably want just to stomp turtles' heads, swing their swords and fire their guns. Not dissing those games at all, but Actraiser's concept is pretty weeet. And while the simulation part is a really nice one, condering how well it ran on the SNES, it just had no chance against titles like Contra, Zelda III and the like.
@SupraDarky Square Enix are only interested in releasing games like Final Fantasy XIII - 2, pet 3 mark II. In my opinion they just don't make games like they used to. Oh, love your list by the way.
I don't understand why this game is so unknown. It's one of the best games on the SNES, and deserves more love than it gets.
@SupraDarky Plz dont say that :( They don't know how to make good games anymore...... Their done impressing us now they just wanna milk us because they think they have a solid name that can sell anything. IMO
The first time I ever played this game was mere days after my grandfather passed away...it was almost 20 years ago but this music has echoed in my ears over the years. The game associates it with the birth of new life, but for me it also reflects the pain of letting go and a child's first awareness of how fragile life really is...this is such a powerful track, and so moving. Game music rarely touches me so much anymore...they just don't make 'em like they used to..
This takes me back! The entire soundtrack to this game is beyond epic!

This theme is so damn good. i love it. loved it when it was released and still love it. its faaaaaantastic. There's also a really neat orchestrated version out there, that includes the happy tune from when you teach music to one of the places.. desert land was it? oh so long ago... =)

@Arc13 On this note, how about instead of the 500th FF, we also get in a 4th Chrono alongside that third ActRaiser? If this happens, SE will finally get the awesome label they've been waiting for since the company merging.
It's annoying how companies will make major classics like this, and then they'll leave it alone for the longest time because they want to release 500 more games of a series that gets too much attention already(in this case ActRaise ignored for the likes of Dragon Quest) We've got 80 DQs, how about a third AR?
Sigh, they butchered Lufia 2. I'm guessing they'd butcher Actraiser as well.
@nanhuazhenren I more meant that it fit into the Enix 'god' series, between Soul Blazer and Terranigma (Soul Blazer's first boss was even the secret bonus boss in IoG). Also, I can't share your enthusiasm to quite that degree, but yes, it was still pretty good. It has fallen into obscurity now though.

@VGKing I would love for them to make another Soul Blazer. Seriously. I have so many fond memories of that game and go back to replay it all the time. Also, you forgot to mention Illusion of Gaia
