Super Paper Mario was great, but I don't consider it a paper mario game. Paper mario games revolve around turn based battles.
I think that this is the best paper mario game. Not saying the others aren't good, they're great, but this one is my favorite.

I reckon Super Paper Mario was better! Just my opinion. If you thumbs down then you're just pathetic for not understanding that the game is in fact a great game.

@lemurdragonsan Not sure what a scale of 8/10 is to you, but that pretty much equals great for me..haha. Voice acting? Do you mean the usual Nintendo type voice acting, as in the mumbley type voicing? Or actual voice acting? And yeah, the game has its gimmicks attached to it, like with a lot of other Wii titles, but I didn't find the gimmicks enough to be distracting from the overall abstract/atmosphere of the game. Pretty much agree with you, though.
Isn't "Event Battle" the tutorial fights? I thought this went by a different name.
@EturnusFrost It's not tha fack that it was a bad game; it was awesome. But the thing is, it wasn't so much a Paper Mario (series-style) game as it was a recolection of the SMB games. Trivia: It was originally going to be only for GameCube. The it was going to be for both (like Twilight Princess). The it was only for the Wii. My poor gamecube
@EturnusFrost Honestly, I tried to like it. I was at a cloud dungeon when I finally just gave up. If I can't bring myself to beat a game once, then there's a problem. I guess it just wasn't for me =P
@EturnusFrost It is a great game, but I think it just doesn't deserve to be called a true sequel.
@EturnusFrost Nah, I was just trying to point out why I was disappointed of the game. ^^ But its good to see that you can play PM1 and 2 a lot and still like SPM.
@EturnusFrost Well, yeah to clever levels, good story - okay if you think so. but the design and the way things were made up were just poor. The people were just a bunch of differently arranged squares and rectangles and I really missed atmospheric dungeons and cities. SPM wasnt a bad game per se, it was just horribly bland. ._.
@EturnusFrost people wanted another rpg, since that used to be one of paper mario's trademarks. so while SPM is a good game in its own regard, people look down on it because they were disappointed of the battle system. And I feel with them - SPM feels like you are just running through a bunch of levels, the rpg predecessors had so much more to them.

@EturnusFrost Indeed. Super Paper Mario was a wonderful, wonderful game. Disliking it because it has real-time battles is extremely stupid.
Paper mario is even better than the original mario series. And more than that, Peach is Cute only in paper mario, in others 3d game, it's...horrible.
This game rules. I replay it every year, and it always rules.
Somehow, this song is alittle bit annoying more then enjoyable. =/

@pianomaster24 I will agree that SPM's music is on the same level as the first two's :P It has a few REALLY standout pieces (The Ultimate Show, etc.), but overall I think they've maintained the same quality.

@derZockerAska But at what level? That's what I was talking about before, the average level you're at when you first reach her is certainly underleveled for the battle. Reason for what I said is that when done properly Vivian has a move that prevents any harm from coming to you which is pretty much necessary for dodging when you see her ready to dish out an extremely deadly attack.
I rememberd when i saw this game in a nintendo magazine. Tho bad i never got a hold of it :(

Best of the series
I thought Super Paper Mario was alright in it's own right, but it tried to mix RPGs and platformers and just came out with an average hybrid of the two. Looking forward to the return of the RPG-based Paper Mario on the 3DS.
@EturnusFrost Yes, Superstar Saga is definitely my favorite of the three, Partners in Time being kind of lackluster and unmemorable, and Bowser's Inside Story was great too, the focus being Bowser, which was nice. I know what you mean with the Paper Mario series. The original is probably my favorite Mario RPG, being the first video game I played on my own.
This game really has an amazing soundtrack (the same going for most Mario RPGs). Each track, especially the battle tracks feel very elaborate when you listen closely, but are still pretty subtle. Even you don't pay much attention to them, they'll probably stick in your head for a long time afterwards.
@SupraDarky OMG, now Paper Mario can leave his 2D limitations, and become 3D!!... oh wait. But yeah, the 3D could probably make for some easier precise platforming, which would be a plus for Paper Mario. I bet they'd have fun throwing stuff in our face too.
@EturnusFrost Yes, agreed. But I also noticed no love for the Mario & Luigi games. I hope you've played those too, especially the first one, Superstar Saga.

This game... Best in the paper Mario series... Best soundtrack Gameplay Use of Paper Theme Story Characters The game is an overrall blast. Glitzpit was fun with the tournament setting! Love Vivian(especialy since she's near required for the last fight unless you massively grind), how can one not enjoy TTYD?!
I just played to this game like 15 minutes ago. haha! I used to play a LOT to this game. But I don't know why, I was damn scared during the moment Yoshi started calling you Gonzales, and that you receives scary message. with the scary music. I might be the only one thought... who were scared...
I think the original Paper Mario was the best.
I hated the Paper Mario for the Wii.
@SupraDarky From what I've seen, it looks good, and you have a chain chomp as a partner.
I can only imagine the possiblities of the next Paper Mario on the 3DS.
What an amazingly fun game this was. I'll have to play it again soon as it's one of my favorite RPGs. There's just something special with Mario RPGs and I can never get enough.
