Daisuke Amaya created the program used to synthesize this song, Orgview, and sequenced this and all other Cave Story in his free time. He worked as a salaryman in Japan while creating this. I often wonder at the hidden brilliance in the masses, waiting to be tapped, what other Moonsongs are out there.

My friend told me the deluxe version of this game was released for free on the PC, and I heard about the game before. So being the person I am, I love free stuff and I was curious so I rushed to download it. I didn't expect much from the game but once I opened it and started making my way through the first cave I realized that this game was everything that I would ever want for a platformer shooter. I think the time I invested in Cavestory was well worth it, and this theme makes me realize that
I just wish that I could love this game as much as I love its soundtrack... unfortunately I dont.

I like a game with a little bite to it. It's way better than those games that pat you on the head and whisper sweet nothings to you when you fail, assuring you that you haven't really failed at all. Oh, your screen turned red? Just hide. It's a minor inconvenience. Get back up. You're doing great! DON'T. PATRONIZE. ME.
GREAT game, bought it from the eShop on my 3DS. My only complaint is that the game is on the difficult side, even on Easy. For me, it's because the game punishes you for getting hit. Downgrading your weapon when you suck makes for more suck.
That game was so mean. I regularly went from happiness to a "wtf, why?" feeling.
this song makes me think of being pressed for time to save someone, or when someone i care about was either killed or taken away and i have to save them
amazing game, list needs more cavestory music (like the wii title theme)
This song expresses all the emotions of this amazing game, it's amazingly touching sotryline. So much love for it :)

I associate nothing but good memories with Cave Story, and this song, and the countless times I've played it through, and I wouldn't hesitate to play thru it again :)

@CleverDjembe I think alot of people coming to this video, through one means or another, has heard of the Touhou series. I never bothered to bring the subject up simply because I figured someone checking these videos would know something already. That and I don't want to get the comments crowded with fanboyism.

Anything can be added to this list, it just has to be a video game. It's just that I don't really keep up with most freeware/doujin games unless they're really popular.

@minidevi There's actually alot out there. There's a few videos, like "top 5 indie games", "4 games 4 free", "top doujins", and "100 games in 10 minutes". Some games on those lists require purchase, but most games are free and good. There's also the site, Newgrounds, which has browser flash games. Not sure what else to mention.

YES! That's the way Supra, excellent song always has been my favorite PC game song and always will be. I still remember it from hearing it last about 3 months ago, love this song :D.

Cave Story is so awesome. This is the greatest song from the game, though there are many others that could go on this list. You can just feel the emotion that went into making this fantastic game!

Cave Story and An Untitled Story, The best freeware games ever
2 indie game song choices in a row, both of which I recognise (well, most people do anyway) AND my favourite song out of both... Heck yeah. Like.
One of the most popular indie games ever made and rightfully so. Being able to play the PC version for free makes it really hard for anyone who likes Metroid-style games to justify not trying it out.
