This game is a masterpiece. I've invested way too much time in it, but it's seriously just that good. All the attention to detail makes it one of my favorite games of all time, and IMO one of the best games ever. Come to think of it, the same can be said for almost all of the TES games.
I personally think this may be the best game I have ever played and know of. The music and story was amazing, and sure the voice acting was rusty due to a severely low amount of voice actors, but the asthetics of this and all the rest of the game make it amazing. Skyrim was hard to enjoy even with dlc but with Oblivion I could enjoy the whole game on its own. I play this on my day 1 Xbox360 and it still works with a midnight launch copy of oblivion. I just want to say if this was backwards compatible on Xbox 1, I would worship Todd Howard for that and I would not be able to sleep at all or simple be able to actually sleep. This game was perfectly made and it proves it, if only it were as praised as Skyrim.
A lot of people don't like how simple Oblivion made questing, and hate Skyrim because it's so easy to get things done. Back in the Morrowind and Daggerfall days, you didn't get icons on your map telling you where to go and who to talk to. You actually had to chat up townsfolk, ask about people you were looking for, and half the time the person you were talking to would have no idea where they are. Even if they did know, it would usually be something vague, or directions to /another/ person who was better acquainted with whoever you really wanted to talk to. The worlds were more alive. Still a great soundtrack though.
It might just be me, but the lack of voiceover in Morrowind was one of the things that made it kinda hard for me to play it. I would usually just skip through all the dialogues and re-read the journal if I missed something crucial. Other than that, the world seemed kinda dark to me (visually) all the time and I really craved mods but since I have a crappy PC, that's a no-go.

Cyrodiil is based on Europe, what white Europeans have built, once it becomes multicultural that's when it dies.
True, sad. Love this game. Theme works perfectly while near any Chapel or walking through the sunny fields. Truly a gem of the XB360 era.
I have Oblivion and Skyrim for PS3. I bought them without high hopes and they blew me away. I got Oblivion first and it was amazing. Skyrim impressed me with its controls and game play but Oblivion still seems like a larger world for some reason. I felt that I have explored most of Skyrim after a short while but only touched Oblivion.
I am so glad this is on the list. This has been my favourite piece of VGM for as long as I can remember

The biggest flaw in my mind was Oblivion's leveling system. Unless you power leveled every time, which I definitely didn't know to do until far too late in the game, the harder difficulties make enemies far more powerful than the player, which creates a very frustrating experience. Otherwise, I thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of the this game and it's world. The Dark Brotherhood storyline in probably one of my favorite storylines in gaming.
I knew there was a reason why I hated Oblivion, and didn't give it much time. Thanks for reminding me! The levelling system was indeed atrocious, and in fact completely broken beyond repair. And I'm one of those awful people who judges a game vanilla, without looking to the modding community to fix it when the developers screw up.

The Skyrim OST is epic and the game itself is awesome, no doubt about that. But this game? This soundtrack? I actually literally fell in love with this game. I had the same feelings for when I played it, that I have had with my girlfriends. When I was at work, I missed it all the time and all I could think of was to come home and play it. I wish I could marry a game.
I have to agree. For some reason Oblivion is just more fun to play, although the characters are butt ugly. Nothing a mod or two can't fix though. Luckily I still have my GOTY discs. :D

I think Oblivion might be my favourite game, this track reminds me of the game so vividly, especially exploring. There's something about game music that I find unique, specifically how loosely they can tie to the action, there's a lot of room for interpretation and how they fit the atmosphere.

oblivion sound tracks are much better then skyrim , although morrowind has the best overall . daggerfall was ok
@TheRitchardgaleHater I'm not going to argue how long walking from one end to the other would take, but Morrowind was definitely a longer game with more content. Not shooting down Oblivion though, I've sunk 100+ hours into it.

skyrim is kickass but i got into the series late with oblivion and when i got out of jail this was the first theme that played a magical moment in gaming only topped by leaving vault 101 in fallout
@TheRitchardgaleHater True, but the oblivion world felt smaller because it was more monotonous. In morrowind you had a ridiculous amounts of different cultures, environments, and other variables. For example, the different houses in Morrowind built buildings differently, making it so that no city truly looked the same. Also, in Morrowind you can go from a swamp to a desert and everything in between incluing a forest of giant mushrooms in between. In oblivion you dont have that variety.

This was probably my favorite Elder Scrolls game Morrwind a close seceond. I remember buying a horse and traveling through beautiful scenery and just listening to the amazing music. Excuse me while i go get a new copy of the game to play :).

This is the one game I never beat for the sole reason of in game ADD and sidequests. "oh look, a cave, wonder whats inside?" "i wonder whats behind that hill?" "where does this path go?"

An absolutley wonderful game to be sure, but I was just a tiny bit disappointed seeing as that this game cam e right after that masterpiece known as Morrowind. The story line was simpler, the world was smaller and less in-depth, and the art design was not nearly as unique and interesting. Still, oblivion is one of my favorite games on the PC.

I played this game for hundreds of hours, and yet I didnt notice this being so brilliant. I'd HEARD it countless times, but only now do I listen and think "wow... thats great". A bit of a hidden gem I think.
@sora8711 Yeah very different gameplay, in fact a lot of people disregard Fallout 3 as a Fallout. Fallout 3 was good if it was it's own title but a good Fallout game. But I guess once Bethesda got it's hands it, they had to put the Oblivion style to it.
@killersithlords I have never played Fallout 1 or 2 but I heard the gameplay is very different than 3. I never said it wasn't a good game but I just prefer Oblivion is all.
@sora8711 Do I need to say that Fallout series takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. What did you expect to see, green everywhere? Have you played the other two?

@calvinsora101 Fallout 3 is Oblivion with guns and a terrible looking environment. It had potential but it wasn't all that great. Morrowind and Oblivion are great. Fallout 3 music was not that memorable either.
@ClockwerkDingo I'm such a nerd that can walk around in the woods of Cyrodiil and never be bored, it's a matter of taste. But I absolutly agree with you. Gameplay of Morrowind, with the graphics of Oblivion (or better). That would be the death of my social life :P
Oblivion had all of the 3 most important factors greatly mastered and awesomely created: gameplay, graphics and music. When i listen to this music, it is as if nostalgia of another parallel life touched my heart.
Too bad the game itself was as shallow as Paris Hilton after 10 Jäger shots.

I disagree. DA:O is a good game, don't get me wrong. But it just didn't give me an open world like the elder scrolls. I want to walk from place to place, and take my sweet time doing it.
This makes me want to play Oblivion :D, even though I beat the entire game, somehow I feel I never played it to the point I could have...

If you own the game for PC, just go to C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Music. You can do that for pretty much any PC game (except the really old ones).
God, one of few tracks that did play in Oblivion. Oh well. It was a fun game indeed. Who knew you could jump really REALLY high even when wearing heavy armor? Kudos @ glitchy paintbrushes.

The music was part of the reason I walked everywhere instead of fast traveling, although I still fast traveled quite a bit, but who hasn't. lol This was a pretty huge game for the awesome graphics it had. One of the best for the 360.

This game was a bit... twisted... the adoring fan was annoying XD. Anyhow, it was a great game besides the twistedness of the game. Really not for the feint of heart who gets scared easily.

You can become invisible and immortal. You can make potions and hotkey them and you can make invisibility spells obviously you have no idea how great that game is. I didn't beat the story untill about 200hrs in and ive been playing (multiple characters) at least 5-600hrs

This game was great in every single way except it had one fundamental game breaking flaw. The ability to go 100%camoflauge and basically become immortal against EVERY SINGLE THING IN THE GAME. And you can get full camo 20% into the game. It's kind of silly, enemies (and I mean every single enemy in the game) will just sit there and let you sit there indefinitely and beat them to death. If they removed the ability to get 100% camoflage this game would be truly as good as it deserves to be.
Proof positive that if done in conjunction with balls-tighteningly fantastic graphics, "ambience" music can fucking WIN.

It's the best score from this game. It did creeps when I first went outside. I've looked arround and just said "whoa" ,without this score it whould not be the same experience :)
They do have some type of original music. Check the fallout 3 site. You can listen to 3 of the tracks for free. It is composed by Inon Zur.

This whole game had a beautiful musical score. Unfortunately Bethesda went with liscened songs for the radio stations in Fallout 3,I hope they have some type of original music in it as they rock!

This game reminds me of a book ive read if you guys like oblivion you should read it its called Magician by Raymond .E. Fiest i think thats how you spell his last name but its really an excellent book and thanks for the music its really relaxing
The solo instrument in the beginning is a viola, accompanied by a cello. And I swear I hear a third instrument in there, maybe another viola or cello. The second solo instrument is a flute, although it kind of sounds like an oboe.
That picture IS pretty boring. This song isn't THAT relaxing though, but it is good.
