One of the best JRPGS I've played in the seventh generation. A very unique setting; great characters; top-notch voice acting (especially from Jansen); and a fantastic soundtrack. Easily deserves an A and I would highly recommend it. The Thousand Year Dreams were VERY well-written and translated; I would have loved to get the actual physical book in my hands so I can read it. This game is actually inspiring one of the characters I'm creating a story for. To live for a thousand years like Kaim...the character I'm writing about could barely handle two-hundred.

have you played xenoblade? thats my favorite of this generation. i find it hard to decide between that and chrono trigger for best jrpg of all time

yea i know i am missing out But i got a box TV it's kinda hard for me to read the words being all uncomfortable and straining to see what the words say. And it's just sooooooooooooo much to read!! btw you should play NIER. That was a very fun action rpg. and there is a long story part which i read cause i didn't think it be so long lol. And there is a story part you have to do to continue the story.
i love this game but didn't care for the 1000 year dreams. I really hate to read :(. But they were done well!
ooh yea now that you mention it.. I guess you are right it did take a while especially that dungeon with the holes in the floor that pissed me off. That was a pain :P
Well I like to grind a lot that way I can kill enemies fairly easily at least. With the battles by the end of disc 2, they take around 5-7 minutes to beat if you get a big group of em, even exploiting their weaknesses.
i didn't really notice battles took forever and level cap isn't so bad. Technically you could still level over the level cap but you gain like 1 maybe 2 xp per battle :P.
I freaking LOVE this game.
@SupraDarky Bout the ONLY 2 complaints i had about it were the battles took forever later on, and there was somewhat of a lvl cap. Like you could only lvl up to a certain point before xp pretty much just stops. Other than that, a frickin awesome game!
Supra, I've got a question... How many game consoles do you have? I listened to uploads from games which only can be played on quite "old" ones.

@VGKing Is that really true? I was so completely overpowered in the later game that I never considered any one piece of equipment/resistance an essential for survival. Tactics usually prevail.
@VGKing the game didn't force them on you though. When I played this game I considered the game itself the filler between the dreams. lol Every single one was so interesting and insightful, that it really is a shame if you skipped them.
This music makes me so nostalgic! I didn't think that could be done for a game that I only played a year or 2 ago.

My friend and I just played through/beat this game recently. The game really has an outstanding soundtrack, and of course, the story was fantastic as well! It really makes you ponder... to be immortal...
@SupraDarky I have to agree. The dream sequences in particular are so beautifully written that it brought me to tears.
@HeavensMeat It wasn't that bad. I usually just look away or read an FAQ or a book or something, check my achievements as well or even reply to messages. I guess that's why it didn't bother me that much. There weren't only just 4 different kinds, it just seemed that way. A lot of jRPGs are like that anyway, only having six or seven, eight if we're lucky, different enemies in one area.
I'm definitely going to get this game sometime soon, i've been putting it off for like 3 years :P
My favorite JRPG of this generation so far that I've played. It actually felt like a mix of Final Fantasy and old school RPGs in general, with amazing music by Uematsu and nice story from Sakaguchi (with very memorable dream sequences that no one should skip). It's one of the few games where I actually felt some form of nostalgia while playing the game for the first time.
