It's interesting how Metroid Prime truly transferred the Metroid saga into 3D flawlessly...I mean, when you play Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, they practically feel like the same gameplay style, just one in 2D and the other one in 3D.
Nintendo's very good at that. While all the other companies were freaking out about bringing their games into 3D, Nintendo just kinda came out at them with Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64 like it wasn't even a problem. Metroid was a late bloomer, but I think it was worth it - I'd definitely agree about the flawless transfer.

And you just stop and look off into the distance, no shooting, no scanning, just looking and appreciating the beauty of the drifts... Something about Phendrana that just down shifted the chaos of Prime for me... I loved it there.
@David Harris man you seriously have a bad taste on games. Prefering Medal of Honor and James Bond over The Wind Waker? I don't know about that... While The Wind Waker as a game didnt aged at all and especially not the graphics (The HD Version looks absolutely amazing), Medal of Honor and James Bond are Shooters that came out 10-12 years ago, those two games didnt alter well.
Well, what you're saying is absolutely correct.. Well almost I think, there's only one thing you're saying that is bugging me. If anything, did the graphics in Wind Waker age well. The game itself didn't sell well because of the graphics, but with time I really think people learned to like the graphics. I also think that this is the main reason they made Wind Waker HD. :)
@YolmzWelra also Wind Waker HD is the best selling WII U game, isn't it? I'm not completely sure though.
But it was that, that I was trying to say.. The graphics have aged well, so most of the people really like the graphics by now, and thus Nintendo probably knew that Wind Waker was gonna sell well and made a remake of it.
This game was so cohesive and ahead of its time. When so many games were trying to be movies, linear, and objective based, this game told a cryptic story you had to discover, had immersive environments, privileged discovery, and frankly did stuff right that a lot of big budget games still get wrong.

i dont hate halo at all
Halo 1 & 2 have one the best best BEST campaigns/story. Metroid Prime, Echoes, and Corruption are great games (Prime 1 and 2 higher than 3). Both Halo and Metroid Prime's plot/story is flawed at times, but Prime's gameplay is so phenomenal, detective-like, and mysterious. They are both "objective-based" at times, moreso with Halo, I think. Halo's story is also mysterious. They both have great plots that run deep with mystery and intrigue. Big fan of Xbox (original-NOT 360) & gamecube.
For me, I would trade the Windwaker (sorry, not a zelda fan!) for Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and James Bond Nightfire and Medal of Honor: Rising Sun.

Ehhh not really halo's plot its star ship trooper 2. Metroid's plot is damaged. (other M, Fusion)
You can download the Dolphin Emulator and play it on that. Though the default game doesn't look too good on a 1080 monitor, if you get sweetfx it looks alright. Takes some getting used to the control scheme again though...
Can't find my gamecube, but if i ever do, i will play this game so hard. Even bought a new gamecube a year or 2 back just to play this again
maybe so, but prime is still alot better than halo 1, and halo 1 was good for it's time.
does that mean in corruption there's always people to talk to ? i just started the game and i find being able to talk to NPCs extremely out of place

Thats why I love Metroid Prime and Super Metroid. Its the isolation that gives the sense of being on an alien planet. The later games killed that for me.
Most halo campaigns last 8-10 hours, and the presentation is hollywood flashes and explosions. Im not saying its bad but compared to the 25-30+ hours from any Metroid Prime game, which has offered me more moving scenes and gameplay, thats just how i feel.
Bosspuma to be fair anyone who talks about halo being “better” the other games you kinda just automatically come off as a 12 year old.

I am a huge Metroid fan and never played a Halo game (I don't even own an xbox), but I can still tell that you have no idea what you're talking about. Halo has some of the deepest plots in video gaming. From what I understand, one game's plot is more complex than all of the Metroid series put together. (though that might be an exaggeration). Also, you seem to be confusing it with the Call of Duty and Battlefield series. It's a singleplayer game at heart.

What the hell. Im not saying that metroid does not have a good story, but Halo's story is amazing. It is just more linear. Most people buy Halo for Campaign, and also play the multiplayer. But there is no point to halo without singleplayer. Its the main attraction. You say all that out of loathe for Halo and love for metroid.
Perfect music for a perfect game
My first Metroid game was the original. Never beat it. But then I got this game. While the scenery and music is beautiful, I haven't beat it. I do prefer Super Metroid though. But this music....it's astonishing.
Yeah over ten years later, this game doesn't look dated at all while the same could be said about early current gen games. Simply amazing.

I don't think they are supposed to. Halo is a fps game where not much effort is put into making the story special, because more than half the people who buy the game only play for the multiplayer and don't care about the story. Metroid has been praised for its single player, so that's where the development goes.

Listening to this and i just have a urge to play this masterpiece again. took all my time to read all lore and was amazed by the world of wonders and mystery... the feeling of being all alone on a strange planet. that was 7 years ago... And I still feel the same way about this game

Yeah sure, it would be cool. Though is Metroid Prime spectacular in the way of it having such beautiful and atmospheric design and not powerful graphics (powerful graphics was just a bonus). I would rather see Retro Studios make a new fps Metroid game to the WiiU.
So breathtaking. One of my favorite tunes in gaming, not only because its pleasing to my ears, but also because it really fits the cold, barren world of Phendrana. The atmosphere of this game stood out to me, no thanks to the lovely soundtrack and gorgeous visuals. Metroid Prime is still one of the most spectacular games I've played.

nope, i think what you mean is either Resident Evil Zero or Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles. RE4 is the father of the new RE controlscheme which was used during RE5 und was a bit modified in RE6 and you started with Leon in a forest in front of a shack (i decline to call that thing a house :P)

@THEBIGONE4444 When you think about it, the GameCube had quite a few games that still hold up well today even in the graphics department. This game and The Wind Waker are what comes to mind first thing, and games like Resident Evil 4 and Twilight Princess still look gorgeous too.

Whenever I enter Phendrana Drifts, I always turn off all sound but the music. It's so freakin' cool.
The atmosphere of this game was great, though it made you feel a bit lonely since there was never anyone to talk to. It made me cherish what little remnants I found of the chozo's civilization all the more.

@IntuitionJo I liked the first Prime game the most. I hated the second, but only in comparison with the first and the third game was good, but not as good as the first. My favorite Metroid game by far is still super metroid on the SNES though :)

by far my all time favourite and most memorable piece from any game, when i first played the original, an ice landscape so well realised as this one was with this music really had me in aw (it got better and better as the game/s went on aswell :P
@IntuitionJo I preferred the 2D Metroid games, personally. That being said, I still found the Prime games to be amazing - it says a lot for a game when it can grab you in even through your own skepticism. They may not be on Super Metroid's level (at least not in my opinion), but they dwarfed every other type of action/exploration game of the past console generation by far!
When my older brother told me to buy this game, I thought he was nuts but when I began playing, I couldn't believe my eyes. The graphics were so beautiful, the atmosphere was perfect, the music wrapped around my heart and squeezed out my emotions. Metroid Prime 1, in my opinion, the best Metriod Prime out of the trilogy

I tried recreating,= this song, I don't think it can be done. It's too good, and the people on charge of this games music had a sense of genuis when it came to music.
@TheGoldenMushroom One thing I noticed is that although Xbox and PS3 games may have better gameplay, graphics, and effects. Nintendo will always be the master of emerging you into the game's universe with the aesthetic music, environments, and deep story. Metroid Prime and the Legend of Zelda games do this very well.

the build up is the best part of this song. the climax of it on its own isn't that great, but when it is paired with a peaceful, subtle buildup, the climax of the song is absolutely incredible. the best part is that if the climax were any stronger, it would detract from the song because it just wouldn't fit the buildup.
Majora's Mask does kick ass, though.

Prime 1 had the history, openness, atmosphere, puzzles, action and story; Prime 2, while not nearly as good as the first, had good puzzles and an odd appeal unlike that of any game I've ever played; and Prime 3 was a steaming pile of shit with not a single redeeming quality. 1 > 2 > 3

@IntuitionJo Metroid is amazing. I was rather disappointed in 2 and 3 though, as 2 was like a maze and it was too hard to get around. 3 was mostly because there was only 1 beam... You've gotta have 4, it's tradition!

@SupraDarky Being someone who recently played the game for the first time, I to have to consitently remind me of that fact. It easyly stands up to and surpasses any current generation game, despite the fact that it will soon be a decade old, which goes without saying, is quite something...
if you have a wii just get the mp trilogy it has all 3 games on it revamped with corruption style controls

YES! You have no idea how long I have waited for this to appear on the list. There is no doubt that Phendrana Drifts was the most magical area of the game to explore, and this was helped out hugely by the stellar music.

I am disappointed by that. Metroid Prime's 2 and 3 are to Metroid Prime 1 what Majora's Mask is to Ocarina of time. They compliment each other, filling in the gaps that the others didn't. Prime 1 had the history and the openness, Prime 2 had the atmosphere and the puzzles, and Prime 3 had the action and the story. Don't go saying any of them are inferior to one another, because they all kick ass. ...Ok, I'm done.

It's not the best from Metroid Prime. The most that i prefer is the Tallon's surface music after getting the wave beam. That is so funky! But I approve that this song is one of the best of this game, followed by the Chozo room's
