I can't help but feel bad for Conker. He only got 2 games! Donkey Kong got a few and even Banjo-Kazooie got 5! Conker only had 2. Conker's Pocket Tales, and Conker's Bad Fur Day. Live & Reloaded doesn't count because it's a ramake, Project Spark is a game that got Conker slapped on it so it would sell better (Conker's not even in the main game!) and Young Conker is an augmented reality game (doesn't count. I'm only counting MAIN games). Hell if you think about it.... Donkey Kong came back with Returns and Tropical Freeze. Banjo came back with the spiritual successor with Yooka-Laylee. What does Conker get? Stuck in Microsoft hell with no bright light in his immediate future. No spiritual successor, no comeback/sequel, nothing he's just dead, probably for good. I mean I know he doesn't have the following that say Banjo or Mario had/have but damn it he's still a great character and had an awesome game. He never got his chance to shine, he never got the chance to make something of himself, he has the two games and that's it. He didn't get half the screen time or credit he deserved. Hell there would've been a Conker's Other Bad Fur Day if Microsoft didn't cancel it. They had a story and everything! And instead he's just.......... gone. Really makes you sympathize with the poor critter.

There were plenty of games before this one to be rated M, but this one is definitely significant for other reasons. I think it was the first game in this genre to be rated M. 3D platformers at that time were typically family friendly, and even today they don't usually go past a T rating (if even that). I also think the content behind the M rating might be responsible for its controversy. Nintendo was fine with having other M-rated games on the N64 (Perfect Dark, Turok, etc.), but those earned their rating from violence. Conker was a lot more raunchy, with things like the sunflower and Buga the Knut.

if you want Microsoft bankrupt, let's say your wish comes true, then all people using Microsoft operating systems could no longer get monthly updates from Microsoft as they would have no money to fix issues and put out patches. That means millions of innocent people will be left without protection and would be more vulnerable to hackers, thus completely ruining more than half of the people in the world's experience with computers. And there are also lots of people who can't afford to upgrade to other brands, like Mac or Linux. On a side note, this is one of my favorite songs of all time.

@iLoveJackingOn it works on 360 but it doesnt load any of the loading screens and often shuts the xbox down and the intros are very jerky and laggy apart from that its ok on 360

Get a emulator (project64 is free), buy a $15-$20 dollar N64 USB Controller on Amazon, play any N64 game with higher visibility (no crappy old tvs, it uses your pc's screen) and maybe if you wanted to, free gameshark and hd shaders/texture packs (it won't be like the XBOX version with those addons though... good!). Only $15-$20 dollars! I think that is bigger bang for your buck.

I will admit that. I liked its unique style. I enjoyed playing through the game and have replayed it. I just don't feel it all came together perfectly.
That part was horrible, but I can name many others that frustrated me: Doing that First person shooter part with the bees Riding the Barrel out of the mansion The Lava surfing The war tank The underwater section in the safe The bank robbery mission The first part of the war base with all of the sensor lasers Some of those were fun, but damn...some of them really just pissed me off at times.
The only VERY frustrating part for me was the escape from the 'it's war' island. That part made be extremely frustrated. However other then that. I was quite fine with the game mechanics.
Also, I feel that they didn't hit bulls-eye with all of the different gameplay mechanics they tried to incorporate. While I really enjoyed some of them, I can name a few that felt semi-broken, such as the bull riding and lava surfing. It's actually one of the most frustrating games I've ever played. It's a good thing it doesn't count how many times you die. In fact, I can name at least ten parts of the game that frustrated the hell out of me, whether or not they were well-designed.
It is pretty short, but I have more problems with the game than that. I just feel that it was too "scattery." You didn't have any permanent power ups, just temporary ones for different situation. I get that that's what some people like, but I like it better in Banjo and DK where you keep getting more moves as you go. Also, it's not that the worlds weren't wide open...they were just too small and you never really got to enjoy one place for a while. Again, I get that some people like that.
Fair enough we all have our own opinions on different games. My only real complaint with this game is it's to short for my liking (once you know what you're doing you can finish it within 9 hours) but either way this is in my opinion rares best game.

I do like the game, but after seeing the praise it got and then playing it myself, I think it's kind of overrated, and I consider it one of Rare's worst games on the N64 (and don't take that too harshly. They made so many amazing games that one that is simply 'pretty good' can be considered the worst for me.) That is my honest opinion. If any of you diehard fans feel you need to take shots at me...well, I can understand. Just try to be respectful and open-minded.
I see what he means about it being rushed. The controls are fine and the gameplay has a lot of variety, so maybe it's not as much rushed as it is that some areas didn't receive some attention that was needed. The world is kind of pseudo-wide open as there seems to be a lot to explore, but there really isn't. It's hard to explain. Also, some parts were poorly done. Most of the difficulty was fair but I can think of some cheap parts. Thank god they put in a lot of checkpoints.

Rushed? This was one of the N64's more polished games. It peaked amongst the console's finests in terms of graphics, sounds and music. It has full voice actic for every line. Every section from this game was very different from the rest and you truly never knew what would come next. I don't think this was rushed. I think it took them 4 years to complete the game. Superman 64 was rushed...
I know you don't mean MS killed Rare, but they didn't. Most truly amazing workers at Rare left when the buyout happened, or were laid off. Even though you didn't mention this, that is why Nuts and Bolts was so different! The people who worked on the game probably had no idea what BK was!

"Thier best game" it's a very very abstract fact. Indeed it's one of its finest games ever done, but people can think whatever they want. I personally enjoyed the other two games a little bit more, but when you're talking about old Rare Ware games there is NO wrong choice, all it's gold. It's a incredible shame that Microsoft bought Rare when Rare was thinking about the sequel "Conker's Other Bad Day" and we never saw it again. In fact, Rare is pure shit since They went to MS. Great tune.

Not Rares best game. It has some bad design at places that increases difficulty for the wrong reasons and Conker can't even fall from high places like Rares past games Banjo and Donkey Kong, but other than that it's pretty fun and it is lols, I hated those fucking Zombies and the bank heist level.

I worked in a store that sold these games back when it came out. It was surprising the number of parents who got all the way to the register with the game, with gamer kid in tow, and never noticed the warnings until I mentioned it. I guess the kids hated me for it. It was understandable, as one never expected to see a Mature rating on a Nintendo 64 game.
Ahhh the nostalgia! I remember when I was 11 going renting it with one of my best friend. The cashier was like "You guys aren't 17!", I was like "Dude, I already beat the game like 5 times, we just want to play multiplayer!!!". Always worked :)

We were greeted in the 64 era with some of the greatest platformers of the century and now, Nintendo fans like myself get the shitty end of the stick because of their stupid decision. ...Although to be honest, with the games they're serving today, I don't think I would've been happier.
The cheapest I found this game for was $60. The game is somewhat a rarity. Not too many were made because of a lack of advertisement. Lol Nintendo Power completely ignored this game. I bet we all know why.
Actually, I had a thought for a possible sequel. Conker, now the king of all the land, has one of his scientists explain to him how he could get his girl back to life. And so the adventure begins. What do you think?
I actually think that Conker's Bad Fur Day is a game which is somewhat okay without a sequel. However, if the sequel addresses what happens to him as a king, that would be interesting. I just thing that the tragic ending of the game and the fact that it doesn't have a sequel makes it extremely interesting.

What the deuce are you talking about? Rare, of course, is dead and not popular. Nintendo greatly expanded into the gaming powerhouse that it is. They do have M rated games as well. I'd play Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 over anything Bioware or Bethseda puts out anyday.
NO, both lost a lot from the break up, Rare is dead today and you know it, and Nintendo lost a great dev team. But Nintendo still needs to stop only cater to the E market, there are many that want M rated-games and there is nothing wrong with that.

Conker doesn't come home until 4:00 AM in the morning, and he gets grounded for life, his parents confiscate all his candy (HUGE buttload of candy), and they beat him with a belt. That's why Conker gets drunk in the future. Thumbs up if you agree.
If they make a new Conker game, I think it should be called "Conker's Trick or Treating Trip". It is halloween themed, and it is Rated T, not rated M like Bad Fur Day. It isn't a sequal to bad fur day, because it takes place before Bad Fur Day. Conker is only a kid, and his parents are letting him trick or treat on his own for the first time. He meets up with his friends, and they do some trick or treating for a bit. But eventually they awaken zombies and that's when the action starts.

@thecosmiced2 Viva Pinata games didn't sell too well, so I doubt there will be any more. And, Viva Pinata games are good, I liked them. Plus, they made Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts for Xbox 360.
@walecs2 I don't know but as far as I know there's been just three games starring Conker: BFD, Live and Reloaded, and Pocket Tales. Not counting Diddy Kong Racing, because he wasn't really the main character.

this game brings back memories of me wanting to play it. sadly i wasnt old enough to even WATCH the game >.< when i finally got to play it... i died a lot ._. MEMORIES!! also i have memories of me playing multi player with my cousin and the War game XD it was fun to play it.... i wanna play this again ;A;

This soundtrack has elements from Louis Armstrong - The Ballad of Davy Crickets... I get that, it's a game full of elements from other stories, movies... music is no exception. Incredible game, an ode to all the good stuff. =)

Live and Reloaded wasn't THAT bad. Sure, there were more censors and some minor changes, but Conker was still the good ol' "Lovable" squirrel.

They need to make a sequel with relatively the same graphics, way too many games these days are too realistic, which is why one of the reasons I sold my xbox 360 and bought a snes with donkey kong and mario. Game creators need to realize I play games for fantasy not reality, for example Gta IV, great story line but way too realistic, 3 shots and you die etc etc. same goes with Crysis, and Splinter cell the shittest games.

I love Conker so much. Both the game, and the character. He's... so lovable. :'D Also, Rare sure knows how to make catchy music... it always seems to get stuck in my head.

There were more 'M' rated games than that, but this one REALLY stuck out because it was so fun to play and it was released before the ESRB was formed.

not really, I liked the original better, the only good part of the remake was in the beginning when they changed the dialouge, other than that they messed it up :( another reason why I sold my 360 ^_^
