It kinda sounds like it derives from new jack swing, a style of pop music that was in vogue when this game came out. That's why it's similar to the music from Megaman and Sonic

You know, overall in my opinion, I think this theme was kept pretty damn in tact during the transition from Redbook Audio to Snes Audio. I think the only track that sounds horrible was "Dance of Illusions" on the Snes from the transition.
This is dang close to CD quality. It almost had me fooled. (Which is saying a lot.)

@mrguy22494 ...Rondo of Blood IS Dracula X. What you're listening to here is the version from Dracula XX, the Super Famicom sequel to Rondo of Blood. It isn't a port, like the crappy Western localization would lead you to believe.
@Hayao Dracula X plays like a different game compared to the original Rondo of Blood. It plays a lot like Castlevania III for some reason.
@mrguy22494 Because, again, it is a different game from Rondo of Blood. The real title of the game is Akumajou: Dracula XX.
I know the PC engine version is better but the SNES comes close

P.S I admire Genesis music more than Snes,because Snes has that Sony sound chip which could use real music samples-that's why it sounded like real instruments. Sega Genesis has that crappy 8-bit yamaha sound sythesizer which can produce only noise!Still the programmers tried to use it as best as they could. And there are some masterpieces for Sega.

I think the SNES version has its own charm. For one, I like the bass and secondary instruments on this one, as well as that little part before the song loops over again. :)

Never played Dracula X, but doesn't this sound a bit too "chill" to be in a Castlevania game? Awesome tune, but I just don't think it fits well with the rest of the series
The CD version sounds leagues better, unfortunately. Although some may like the SNES version better....

I'm not sure what bothers me about this one...it almost feels like some of the "flute" notes before the trumpet chorus get cut off by each succeeding note. At any rate, I like the PCE one just a little more, even if this version is very good.
despites the snes soundchip is completely digital,manny believe that it still has a limmited synthesizer onbourd allowing for fuzzy,jazzy,trompett and cheap keyboard like instruments etc,,, that,s what i also believed backthem but i still believe the snes had potential for allowing cd quality sound.
Hating this game because of Rondo of Blood makes no sense. They are two completely different games with different levels and bosses.

@AbsoluteZero255 I can respect that... in a way I feel the same. Though the original PC Engine Rondo has superior gameplay this SNES remake has remade some music thats even better then the original. At the end of the day hey... its all Castlevania am I right :D

While I can ALMOST believe that, after playing through Rondo of Blood, I must disagree. This version's music is several times better than both Rondo's originals AND Castlevania IV's soundtrack.

Favorite game on favorite console and yes favorite BGM. i know this is a port of rondo of blood and i got it on my computer. still i love the SPC music format better then CD format.

Thanks for pointing it out, this is actually Opus 13. Both often get mixed up because this is Stage 5b and Slash is Stage 5a.

While in terms of a direct port; Dracula X had some real flaws. However, it's music was very VERY good! In some cases (Like this one) slightly better than the original Rondo of Blood. (Except it didn't have Cross A Fear.)
Both this game and Super Castlevania 4 have some great music. The SNES was good times for this series.

This is a good song but both arranged versions on the PSP's Dracula X Chronicles trump the SNES version by leaps and bounds.
