You know what Nintendo needs to do? Release the nes again. I know they have the nes and snes classic, but just release the old retro consoles like they did on launch day.
Yes, release a console that doesn't have any games available at retail anymore and is incompatible with most modern televisions. I'm sure they're getting right on that.
The TG16 version of this track is almost as good as this. They both give off a different feel. This one is more badass, but the TG16 is more adventurous.

The beat of this stage is so way ahead of its time. Most NES would only have this simple beats but this track is so advanced Man, I miss my childhood and my NES got lost T.T
Buy another one man, or you could use emulators

one of the best games but the respawning enemies and the knock back make this game so hard but it's still hella fun
I got all the way to the first or second incarnation of Jaquio, but was never able to beat him and complete the game.
it took me about ten years to terminate it. xD
I beat it on virtual console...took me 2 hours or so to get to 6-2, only to take an extra 8 hours beating that level.

Yum, makes me want to go climb on the sides of buildings and throw shurikens at dogs and people dressed in black.
Megaman is pretty spare on the cheapness. Bosses have predictable patterns (with notable exceptions, like the Yellow Devil), enemies are never too fast, and all spike traps always come after a screen transition so you have time to steer Megaman in another direction (they ended up being mostly discontinued after MM2 anyway). It's not like every stage is filled with Quick Man beams, for instance.
I always felt this piece really captures the feeling of the entire NES era. Gloriously 8-bit, fun, and usually hard as nails.

Er Megaman AI is virtually 100% scripted as is ninja gaiden... no where near the randomness GnG throws at the player, guess ill agree to disagree on this... Have you actually beaten GnG?
The difficulty in Ninja Gaiden is very much like ghosts n' goblins. It uses cheap tactics in order to lengthen the game, similar to megaman, though probably not as bad as ghosts n' goblins.
Ninja Gaiden's difficulty is not a negative (it isnt Ghosts'n Goblins hard..lol) , i completely agree about the kickass OST tho.
Ninja Gaiden has one of the best 8-bit soundtracks, its a trade-off for an incredibly hard game.

It's hard (to me), but I remember playing through the whole game, including this twice damned stage, just to see the end! No YT back then, and for some reason I never thought of recording it on VHS :)
I feel that they should remake the new Ninja Gaiden games into 2d side scrollers. Complete with slowdown and sprite flickering.

This game is brutal...apparently, even the Nerd himself can't beat it (though it's hard to tell, since he might have been acting it). Yeah, I beat it, but it took a lot of time and dedication.
You pick up a new game today. Your friend said it was the hardest game you have ever played. You play it. It was tough, but you still beat it halfway into the following week. Now you go to your friend. You give him your old NES system and a copy of Ninja gaiden, saying it was the hardest game you have ever played. He plays it. 2 months pass since you lend it to him, and he says that he is still stuck on act 3. As for me, I can't beat the final Boss.

I've made it as far as to level 5-2 or 5-3 I think then I got stuck. This game is almost impossible to beat, and I said ALMOST. Great game but hard as shit!

It took me 3 years of playing every day to complete this game... (Every day I would play until act 6-2, which after a while only took 10-15 minutes to get to). Until one day.... I finally did it.... I was so proud. They don't make games as hard as these anymore, it's a shame... games these days aren't even challenging.

i beat 1 without cheating, my best deathless speed run was 22 min. i beat 2 with out cheating, but i died my share of times doing it, and it took over an hour.

I agree, this game is goddamn crazy, and would just piss me off sometimes, but the gameplay was flawless, so I could only blame myself.. No saves, no nothing too. Now almost every game has a save and is too easily beatable. I agree.

New games lack difficulty... now everyone who plays a game can finish it... finishing old games required a lot of guts, quick reflexes (twice or thrice than actual games) an patience!

you're right. this is overlooked! i've never heard it before, yet i'm a huge advocate of 8-bit music, both as an art form and for the simple fact that the games bring back memories cause they were just fun as hell!
