i only just recently got into animal crossing with new horizons (which i'm sure makes me a dirty plebian in the AC world lmao but whatever) and these games weren't even a part of my childhood, but listening to this song just now made me feel so deeply nostalgic even though i've never played the game. It has a quality to it that I can't really describe, but whatever it is makes this song feel almost magical. Good work Nintendo, you guys did an amazing job

i got this game around 2009, (im only 13) and i lost it a few years ago and i was really sad, but recently I was cleaning my closet and i found the cartridge, and since i haven't played it in forever, i decided to play it for a bit, i heard the first few notes of this and got really nostalgic, i really miss those carefree days where i didnt have to worry about anything, no pandemic, no nothing, it was just me, and my villagers.

My new DS lite charger arrived today. After laying dormant for years now, i finally booted up my DS Lite. The first game i booted up was Wild World. Just hearing the theme alone makes me want to cry tears of nostalgia.

2009, i just got a nintendo DS and wild world as a hand-me-down gift from a friend. i’d only played shooters before and i had no idea what this game was. but it clicked with me. i met my best friend Mitzi, and spent most of my time in this game just fishing and catching bugs. i thought it was so cool that the game went in real time, i loved staying up late on Saturdays just to listen to KK play. this was the game that taught me that video games can be beautiful, relaxing, and slow. i love it so much. this series is so special to me and i’m glad i grew up with it <3 i luv u mitzi

In gmod I downloaded an AC map. This music plays 24/7 on the map, so now I get to listen to this masterpiece while murdering zombies. on a different note, this song and the rest of the AC soundtrack up to city folk have actually saved my life. These songs have stopped me from killing myself, and I didn’t think music could do that.

This year is my first time Playing the animal crossing series and wild world is the first and I already felt nostalgic to this music (And it made me happy hearing this song on the Animal crossing movie)
Animal crossing wild world is fantastic. If you like wild world may I advise you to get the gamecube version as well someday. Both games are absolutely charming and incredible. It's so sad what happened to the franchise. They seem to almost be purposelessly be removing charm from the game. They removed resetti from newer games for apparently making kids cry, they changed the artstyle from this lovely slightly muted but aesthetically pleasing one to a bright pastel cancer with horrible tacked on lighting effects and filters, the character models have become realistic for some reason and stick out like sore thumbs, and worst of all the older games have more features than new horizons, and people are fine with this because of updates after launch. Another awful thing is the writing, the villagers feel so soulless and empty in the newer games, the writing quality tanked. Utterly ridiculous, be sure to buy the gamecube version while you can. I feel the older games will be looked back on way better than new horizons which will age like milk and the gamecube and ds version will always be valuable. Have fun playing Jet.

I'm in tears right now, K.K. just played me this song when I spelled Two Days Ago wrong in New Horizons... No matter how nostalgic GCN's theme was, how bittersweet New Leaf's is or how welcoming warm and wholesome New Horizons' theme has become, nothing will and ever change the fact that this was the only theme that lasted two games, and the only theme that is iconic enough to truly encapsulate Animal Crossing.
I've never played Animal Crossing while I was younger (My first game was Pocket Camp ;-;), but for some reason, I see this as the theme of Animal Crossing as a whole. I don't know why, but I just feel that way.
How can I have such nostalgia and tears of joy over a series I've never played? Makes me wish I did gave AC a chance from the beginning. :'(
Imagine a prequel Animal Crossing game with a more structured narrative. ‘Animal Crossing Origins’ or something. I know that seems to immediately go against AC’s design as an open-ended life-sim. But this could be sort of like a spin off! You’re still the resident human who’s new in town. Villagers still move in and out and get you to run around doing favours. The core game play is still pretty similar. The difference is that this is also an origin story for characters like Tom Nook and Redd. They live in your town like normal villagers and ask for favours and whatnot. But they have an involved story which unfolds at the player’s pace. You learn about their job aspirations and you see their conflicts play out in some depth. You (can choose to) help Tom set up a tiny little shop selling nicknacks. Maybe Redd is close to Tom, so starts helping him out. But Red has some questionable methods which rob Ton the wrong way. He often sells fake goods, or sells things at exorbitant prices. This angers Tom, and the two drift apart over time. That’s when the two place you in the middle. In a heated argument, they ask you whose side you’re on. Your answer will make one of them move out of town. Maybe they leave permanent, but if you write to them enough, they’ll move back, and you can help patch things up with the animal who remained. Another plot could feature Joan. She lives much further out from the others, in a dusty hovel near the cliffs. For the first few weeks, it doesn’t seem like anyone’s home when you knock. But occasionally, when you’re out wondering the forest, you see Joan planting and plucking turnips. She acts pretty distant and aloof, but might sell you some Turnips. The more you do this, the more she talks to the player. She eventually starts having more involved conversations, eg she’ll ask what the other villagers are like. It starts to become pretty obvious that she’s lonely and doesn’t speak to the other villagers, mostly just staying inside her far off house. Once she gets to know you, she starts inviting you over to her house. The closer she gets to you, the more confident and sociable she becomes. She will eventually start getting more involved with the community - maybe she’ll finally move out of her old house and into the central forest where the others live. Depending on how friendly you were to Joan, she’ll either: leave you her house for free; sell you her house at a modest price; sell her house to Tom Nook (which the player can then purchase at full price). Your closeness to Joan (and subsequently what she does with her house) could depend on several factors, like how much you spoke with her, your dialogue options, how many Turnips you bought, etc. One key way of increasing your friendliness to her would be delivering her mail to her. Maybe since her house isn’t registered, her mail gets left at the post office. The player can choose to deliver it to Joan themselves. I think this approach could be really neat. I’d want the general vibe to be more like the Game Cube title. So, more slow, melancholic and acoustic music. The setting is a huge, sloped forest, with a river leading down to the beach. There’s a big emphasis on nature. So buildings are mostly wooden and shack-like. There’re lots of dusty trails and overgrown patches. The whole place is sort of like a big, nostalgic meadow. This is in contrast to New Lead and NH, which tend to be a lot more energetic and modern (still love them of course). Tldr An Animal Crossing Prequel game featuring character backstories. :)

I loved everything about the Gamecube's music line-up, but the theme song can't compare to this. I really wish I got myself to play Wild World more than I did, but thinking about it I did get some decent progress in on that game.

I know this is really cringy but wild world saved my life. I had no friends in high school and my parents were divorced so it was just me and my mom. Every day when I came home from school I used to do my homework and then run upstairs to play wild world on my DS. I always felt so calm and happy when playing it. I had all my animal friends on it, they were my friends.

This is so nostalgic for me. Growing up in a family with three twin brothers we liked the original game but Wild World was a whole new level. We all had our own games instead of sharing a console and because of it we spent so much time playing the game. Wild World means so much to me because it reminds me of a safe place that I can always return to. Without getting to much in it I grew up with extreme anxiety and depression and being incredibly introverted because I was born in Croatia during the war for independence and seeing the horrors of war at such a young age scarred me for life. Wild World truly was my world

When I heard this song I cried a little bit , I don't know what it was.. but the title screen music just hit me with nostalgia - - I never finished the game I always restarted it lol... (alot of my childhood games were like that where I just restarted) When I was about 7 years old I had a nintendo DSI Xl my auntie had loads of DS games and she gave me this cartridge of Animal Crossing Wild World or my grandmother gave me spear games. / I still remember the opening cutscene of Kapp'n , telling you about how the town would be before you made it. Tom Nook running after you alot to tell you something , and shaking trees to get different fruits. It was just an open world for me younger. I probably didn't know what I was doing but I enjoyed it either way :) Then I just forgot about animal crossing until now... and I would love to play the new animal crossing.

I feel nostalgic for an intangible land that I only walked as a crude avatar. It feels so far away yet it still exists on my DS but it feels wrong to disturb it as if I would corrupt the memories I had when I played it regularly ten years ago.
With the release of New Horizons and this game being 15 years old....I visited my first town, one more time. And upon turning on the game and hearing this, I cried. every memory came flooding back all at once like a tsunami. God, it was so different back then, so much simpler. Thank you animal crossing for being apart of my life for such a long time, you mean so much to me.

Damn I wish I had a good childhood like some of you guys to remember fondly...the music just feels nostalgic even though I’ve only ever played New Leaf and I’ll play New Horizons when it comes out but my memory gaps and blocks have caused me to forget almost everything about my childhood, it hurts knowing you can’t remember your childhood when you’re only 15 anyway so I really hope 9 year old me enjoyed her time with New Leaf before her brother snapped her 3ds and I hope that Isabelle and the town are okay wherever the game card ended up...but that’s why I love hearing other peoples stories because I didn’t really have much of a childhood to even remember in the first place I find it really easy to kinda live through other peoples childhoods and even though I’ve never experienced the same things I sometimes get carried away and sometimes forget about my past and just enjoy imagining a better childhood for myself in every decade... I hope my memories come back one day but until then I shall continue living vicariously through other peoples lives and stuff Also I love y’all, keep writing all those wholesome stories because even if I can’t be happy I like to atleast see others happy and I’m glad that so many people love not just wild world but the whole franchise...I’ll see you guys in New Horizons 🥺❤️

x_Sil_Ver_x I know I’m only 15 but because of my family situation I had to grow up quicker than most so by the age of 10 I was looking after my 3 siblings (with 2 having autism) and learning how to cook meals and clean up after everyone etc by trial and error of course because my parents didn’t really care as long as they didn’t have to do much and even now I’m still put under a lot of pressure so it really doesn’t feel like I’m a kid anymore but thank you and I’ll try to enjoy what’s left of my childhood :)

I remember being eight and getting my Nintendo DS Lite + Animal Crossing Wide World, man, those were good times 😖❤ Playing Hide & Seek with my friends in our respective towns, trading items ... going bug catching and fishing together .... helping each other pay off our houses. Gah and now I can't wait for New Horizons to come out ❤ I'm 20 now and still as excited as I was back then.

Dang this gave me the chills, I remember I first got wild world for easter like 4-maybe 5 years ago whenever I was in 4th grade and the second my mom gave it to me I ran to my room and played that game religiously. Everyday, wake up, eat something, and then check on my villagers. I wish school wasn't so difficult and stressful like how it is towards the end of the year so I could just sit on my bed and play wild world like how I did before. Oh well, we can't go back in time so I guess I'll make do with what's in the present.

It would’ve been October of 2008 perhaps (or shortly after), when I first played Wild World. I’d recently gotten a DS Lite for my 10th birthday and a few games, but a family friend of ours was really into “hacking” etc, and gave me an R4 card for free with about 40 pre-installed games on it. Wild World was one of those, and I can literally pinpoint the memory of loading it up for the first time. It was a school night, I was up late in bed trying as many different games as I could on this R4 and obviously came across Animal Crossing. I was immediately entranced by the music, characters, everything. I’d never played an Animal Crossing game before then and ended up having literally a sleepless night 😂 if I remember correctly, I faked being sick the following day and just continued playing. Shortly afterwards I bought an actual Wild World cartridge out of respect for the game. Already owning a Wii, you can imagine how ecstatic I was when finding out Let’s Go to the City existed. Definitely a massive part of my childhood, I’ve played every game since, but this one will always technically be the first for me.

This theme brought so many memories back to me. So many great days and nights both making new friends in game and playing with real life friends. Collecting fossils for the museum, fishing in the rain for a Coelacanth, trying to get your favorite townsfolk's picture. God I'm in tears typing this all out. Thank you to all who played a part in making this game and providing me so much joy.

Your riding in a cab, riding to your new home, Karimu Village, located near a beach. The rain would Sooth you as the car rocked slowly and gently, the driver would ask your name, you would reply with your name. The driver would reveal his name, "Me names kappa, so why exactly are ye movin' to this ol' town, it's in the middle o' nowhere.." you would respond with why, and the driver would nod his head, and turn on the radio. the rain would slowly hault, revealing a beautiful town, it appeared populated, and there was nothing but sunshine and the clashing of waves faintly heard. The trees would shimmer sunlight on you, filling you with nothing but happiness.
I still have NINTENDO DS ...but I lost my animal crossing game chip.... D:

Compared to every other Animal Crossing game, Wild World is actually pretty bare bones. But dang if it doesn't have the best soundtrack. It was my first and only Animal Crossing game for many years. And for that, it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Animal crossing is a unique game. It doesn't have a quest or a thing to save from doom, it has animals in a town, doing things like catching bugs and fishing. It can be boring for some and magical for others, but it always, no mater what, trys its best to make your day that one bit better. Every weekend or holiday when I boot this game up, yeah sure, its glitchy, but its still one of the best game themes ever in my opinion.

Wild world was my first, I remember all the fun times, I remember a lot, it was my favourite game on DS, I would play it all the time. I used to play it when me and my family went on holiday, I played it on the car journey, I really wanted my sister to get the game since she got a new green DS (which is sitting in my room now), she didn't play on it a lot, but when she did we would usually play animal crossing together, her favourite villager was Truffles (a pig), after a while Truffles moved in my town, I really liked playing wild world, it will always be one of my favourite games of all time, I remember the title theme at the start sounded a bit bland, until it got the nice guitar music, I love this game and everything about it, I remember hearing the kapp'n theory and it scared me for days, anyway I remember seeing Dr Shrunk and not understanding what he was and what he does, I remember when I lost my save data and stopped playing for a while, I remember the look I got at the start of the game, the one with the purple shirt and swoosh hairstyle! There's something so eerie about how quickly I'm launched back into my middle school/early high school days by this intro theme. The first few seconds I didn't recognize, but when 00:35 kicked in, I was immediately engulfed in a warm, nostalgic hug. I spent hundreds of hours with this game, easily, doing everything possible in it. So many late nights, up with my red OG Nintendo DS, listening to the game through a pair of Nintendo-branded over the ear headphones. Or at sleepovers with my friends, running through each others' towns, playing hide and seek or fishing or giving each other tours of our houses. I remember we were racing to see who could get their houses fully upgraded first... I ended up winning that race, as well as receiving the highest grade from the Happy Home Club. I'm 26 now and that all seems like a lifetime ago. I'll cherish those memories forever, though.
Ah, the memories. I still get sad whenever I think about my favorite townsfolk moving out.

I remember I played this with my friend when I was 3 - 4 years old. I named my town "pretty" and sent letters to everyone saying "I love you" since they were basically the only things (beside my name) that I could write lol.
with my town when i was 3 or 4 (on city folk) i named it mALAND (trying to spell Maryland, which is where i live lmao) and then, yeah, it's just really nostalgia from there.

And I couldn't wait to get home and start up my Wii, and just play Mario and Sonic at the Winter games with my brother. And this game, I didn't really understand it, but I loved it anyways. It just brings everything back. I miss it all so much.

Every time I listen to this song I am awash in a pool of tears. 6 years ago when I was 9 years old, I used to go to my grandma's annd my three cousins were there to play with me all the weekends. Just coming back from school, finish my homework, and then I went to my grandma's every weekend. My uncles bought me a DS for Christmas and this was the first game I had, and therefore, the game I used to play with my cousins in my grandma's house. Lots of hours, fishing, hunting insects, playing together.... and now... since my grandma was gone... we never played it again since that rainny day. And it looks like if she were here when listening to the main theme of Wild World, bless game.

I see lots of comments on how people have played this game with their cousins, family, friends and it's amazing to have such a brilliant childhood like that! Me and my sister used to play this game quite a lot with each other and sometimes, if my cousin was over and had her DS, she'd play with us. But for some reason she kinda stopped playing it with us, so it was just me and my sister playing it. We played with each other for a while (like I had said) then we kinda stopped recently, whenever I bring it up she tells me no, and she doesn't give me a reason for it. She's 11 and I'm 14, so she should still be able to play with me and I love the game. I know everyone's gonna be like, "oh but she's just growing up! That'll happen. Maybe she's just not interested in it anymore." But she loved that game, she strived to get a perfect town. She always asks me to play games with her, so she still wants to play games with me. Basically, I have no one to play with and I see all these stories how when someone was 14 they'd play all day long or something like that. I just miss having someone to play with. Bye now

I remember when I looked for people who had an Action Replay so they could give me millions of bells. But even though I had millions of bells and lots of playtime... There was one problem. My hands. Each and everytime my DS fell down while playing Animal Crossing, my data would be lost instantly. I had to redo all the crap over and over again each and everytime that piece of crap fell down. I had to keep asking my friends if I could go to their down and re-do my old hairstyle, give me a few bells for compensation, drop the DS again, and do it all over again. Even though it was annoying, I found it enjoyable to do everything over and over again. Discovering old and pretending it was new... Trying to beat records... and the most important of all? Friendship. Those are things the newest AC games won't do ever again. It just doesn't feel the same anymore.
this is like the 3rd or 4th game I ever had heck, I even remember Resetti fondly HE taught me to save every single session, cause otherwise, it could mean 3 days of data loss, because them handhelds go everywhere, alive for days on end, supported by a charger at night, used by day, those kids in New Leaf, they have it easy, they can save and continue we had to realize it had been 3 days without a save, and interrupt our play time, otherwise the mail cycle would break, many letters would unsend, and maybe inside the WW universe, the resets were messing with other people. someone had to teach us, i guess

I remember me and my friends playing this game when we were kid. Im now 21 and had forgotten all about it. Until I came back home from university for the winter term and one day saw my sister playing her DS and I heard this theme and after looking at the game she was playing, I realised it was the exact same copy of animal crossing wild world I played 11years ago when I was about her age. I'll be honest with all the memories of not just the game but my whole childhood rushing back to me, I had to quickly run to the bathroom and pull myself together before my family saw me breaking down
i vividly remember how much i used to play this game, like me and my 2 other siblings would play this everyday around 2005/2006 and i remember sharing a ds with all of them and we all had our characters and it was just great! i remember i was really excited whenever it hit my birthday one year that i would see the cake in-game and ugh i just miss this game and the memories :-(

While New Leaf is my favorite, it just doesn't have the atmosphere of the old games. Wild World probably has the best theme, too.
Totally agree. While New Leaf brought lots of new things to the franchise and was certainly not a bad game....it feels a bit...off. It doesn't have the same atmosphere as the old games, villagers are not as interesting to me, their dialogues were lacking a bit... I miss Blathers' descriptions and his fear of bugs... I miss the times when you could find everything you wanted in your town without having to go to a place with all the shops, I miss being a normal villager instead of the mayor that always has to think of everything.. Everything in New Leaf seems so "modern" and in my opinion kinda ruins the game a bit, I dunno if you understand what I'm trying to say. It definitely has charm, but it doesn't have the older games' charm.

Maybe If we get a new ac game for the switch, it will feel more "modern" and new leaf will feel more athmospheric and nostalagic. But yeah I agree. I don't like how in NL the villagers have really repetitive lines sometimes. Otherwise I think in terms of athmosphere and soundtrack new leaf is probably the best.

It happens all the time no matter what the series is or how good the new game actually is, it even happens with Breath of the Wild. Watch how when a new AC game on Switch comes out and everyone will be complaining saying New Leaf was much better. Nostalgia sure is a strong thing. New Leaf is still a great game that's fun to play. While being better than WW is debatable New Leaf is still leagues ahead of City Folk.
I loved the little things you could discover in Wild World such as finding the Wisp or throwing axes into the fountain in City Folk. The short side story involving the Able sisters and Label was charming and brought something to the game in City Folk. A lot of things in New Leaf feel somewhat artificial, shop owners don't have as much personality. In City Folk, Redd was a sketchy dealer who remained somewhat mysterious when you could talk to him, but not enter his shop. Now he's just a guy who sells paintings. Kicks doesn't really have any personality traits. Before was just a guy who you can sit down, relax, and let him shine your shoes in the middle of a bustling plaza, which isn't much, but is still something. KK Slider performs in a modern club, which doesn't give the homely atmosphere that was present in City Folk when he was played in the warmly lit Roost. I'm referring to City Folk a lot because I played that game a bunch and remember the most from it. But from what I've seen, the gamecube version seems to be very charming as well, with other random events that can occur in your town.
You can blame City Folk for sucking all the soul out of villager dialogue and interactions while kicking off the modern AC mindset of "Everything needs to be cute and sterilized!" I appreciate New Leaf for all its improvements, but Animal Crossing needs to go back to the atmosphere that Population Growing and Wild World had.
I feel the same way, but I also think nostalgia is tricking us a bit here, New Leaf is honestly a more interesting game with more possibilities (though I do agree the dialogues are not as well done) and I think some of that "atmosphere" we're feeling is just the nostalgia. I always feel a very special way about stuff from my past, especially my childhood, and this is one of those things.
Considering I only got into this franchise back in 2012, I don't think that's the case. I've played every game and it's clear to me that the atmosphere from Population Growing and Wild World is nowhere to be found in modern AC, it just isn't there.
Besides what's already been said about character dialogue, I think a lot of it has to do with the visuals and music. Despite being N64 and DS games, the first two AC games still have the best lighting engines of them all. Everything just has so much more depth than CF/NL/PC's flat, near-cel shading. (Although NL's lighting is significantly better than the CF and PC's) The first game's top-down view also makes the world feel a lot more immersive than the rolling log introduced in WW. As for the music? Well, the odd, experimental soundtrack of the first game has still yet to be topped, and I honestly doubt it ever will be. That being said, Wild World still has the best main theme (After all, why are we even on this video?) that truly captures the feeling of the AC franchise as a whole. It's no wonder every other AC-related track in Smash is an arrangement of it, while NL's lame theme isn't even part of a medley or anything.
Oh yeah, and last but most certainly not least is the game's overall premise. Something so simple that people often forget has been completely lost. The main inspiration behind the first Animal Crossing was the feeling of moving out and living on your own, and the struggles that accompany such. This is also, at least in my interpretation, the reason why your character is the only human being in a town full of animals. You are an outcast, a completely new face trying to adapt in an already closely-knit community. And what's more, you're on your own. Your friends and family are far, far away. New Leaf and all the spin-offs following it completely throw this out the window in favor of making the player this important, powerful figure from the get-go. From the moment you step off that train, everyone in town worships you as if you were the second coming of Jesus. It just feels... wrong. I really hope that AC Switch goes back to making the player just some ordinary kid, but I fear that won't be the case. The nu-fans that started with New Leaf, Pocket Camp, etc. are already too used to the idea of the player being the one in charge to accept such a thing.
@GuyWithThePie New Leaf was my first AC game and it had that atmosphere for me, because I was a kid, and everything feels much more magical when you're a kid, so I didn't notice the npcs being repetitive, to me they were actual people living their life and if they said the same thing again I'd just talk to another one and go back the next day to talk to them again and I felt like that was normal. And then going online and meeting actual new people was also an amazing experience as a kid, somehow making friends in a virtual realm was something I didn't think possible back then, so yeah, I really think all AC games are good and they just feel different according to how much we grew up, I'm fairly certain the switch one will be awesome but that I wont be able to appreciate it as much as new leaf, just because I grew up and that now this won't feel as authentic. I'm super happy for you tho that you were able to experience wild world in all it's glory :)

I found my old Animal Crossing Wild World game. It brings back heavy memories. NEW LEAF is great but the music doesn't have the same feel.
This song really hit the nostalgia hard for me. Wild world was the first video game I ever played. I remember playing it with my cousins when I first got it. Heck, even my aunt played it. And as time went on and my cousins got older, I still had my friends to play with. And over time those friends faded away. But every time I see my friends and cousins, we all exchange a laugh about Tom Nook, and Ressetti. I don't really know what I'm trying to say, other than this game is great, and anyone who is interested in the franchise should play it. You'll never get tired of it. It's been 10 years since the first time I played this game, and I still play New Leaf.

Animal Crossing: Wild World and Yoshi's Island were the first games I got for it. For weeks after I first got Wild World I'd consistently stay up until 4 AM playing it, which eventually got me grounded. When I hear this song, it feels like a year circle in AC: First, the flowers and cherry blossoms begin to bloom and you go for a walk outside. Then, it's summer, where you can go fishing and collect shells or at night, you watch th the stars or how the fireflies leed you the way in the dark. But it's also the calm part of the autumn, where you sit inside your house and outside the hell breaks loose with the wind and rain and stuff, but you are safe inside.... and so on....
This is so nostalgic. Back when I was six years old, I stunk at most games. But I could always play animal crossing. I'm better now, after 6 more years, but I still love Animal Crossing.
God how serious my friends and I played it back then. We'd meet up just to play that game, we converted our main rooms in our houses to "shops" for when the other visits, we took our villagers so serious. I remember how I felt when I payed off my loan, how I felt when a villager celebrated my birthday with me, how I felt when I caught my first fish, heck even how I felt when I bought my first item and displayed it all proud in my house: I felt happy, a feeling full of such satisfaction and proudness I wish to experience some time again. For those fellow Animal Crossing: Wild World players out there: Others might never understand but we do. Animal Crossing didn't only change lives, Animal Crossing was our childhoods. And it always will be.

14 years ago my mom bought me this game on a cold winter night. My very first AC game and i loved it. It was the US release as it hadn't even come out in Europe. The theme made me a little emotional realizing that 14 years had gone by.

Wow this gives me so much nostalgia! Back when I used to see advertisements of this game back in 2008, I begged my mother for this game so much & on my 10th birthday, I finally got it! I remember just having my headphones plugged into my Nintendo and just listening to this theme song whenever I took a break from playing *-* Think I just cried when 0.38 kicked in ahhhhh I miss my Nintendo with animal crossing😭

I remember in high school, we had a free day in class and I asked my teacher if I could play on my DS for a bit. She said it was alright as long as I had the volume down. I forgot that my volume was up when I turned it on and this song played right when she was behind me. She stopped in her tracks and asked "Is that a game? That music is gorgeous!" When I said yes and showed it to her, she was ecstatic, saying that she didn't think games would have such pretty music. The next day, I brought in a CD of different game music (namely AC and Zelda) to play while we worked. She asked if she could keep the CD because she enjoyed it so much. Every year now, ever since that day in 2005, I have sent her a compilation disk of Game music she would enjoy.

This is one of the few games that has given me a memory that comes back on a regular basis... I remember on a road trip to a wedding of a family friend me and my little brother played this the whole way. He was in my town and he just ran around with me while I tried to impress him with this massive tree farm I had going.... Now hes all grown up in university and I don't get to hangout with him nearly as much as I would like. While I didn't think of it that way at the time, this song reminds me that my lil bro was, and always will be my best friend

Damn, this song reminds me when I played Wild World almost everyday, and I especially loved playing it during the holidays. Everything use to be so carefree back then.
Ahhhhh... I remember when I first got this game. Me and my sister LOVED the first game and City Folk (I remember when she got them both). We would play them for hours on end, and even tried to get my mom to play the first when we were little... ah memories... So I really wanted my own since she owned both. So around Christmas that year, I remembered that an old friend of mine's sister had an Animal Crossing game for the DS... called Animal Crossing: Wild World. I then asked my Aunt for it, and on Christmas Eve, got it. I remember playing it all night, and all morning. Soon enough though, I got new games, and forgot all about Wild World, playing occasionally on holidays... I have started playing it again though, and hope to play it along with New Leaf. Sadly, my sister never got back into Animal Crossing, or video games period... so now I kind of just play them by myself, except with my (female) cousins every once and a while, probably because I am the only boy on that side, an on my other side I have a guy cousin, but he's "too old" to play video games, much less then even with me, his younger cousin to bond... And most kids would probably laugh at the fact that I only play Nintendo, since they play first person shooters... I wish I could re-live my Animal Crossing (the first, that is) days, when everyone in my family loved video games, aside from my uncle who still does, and everyone at school loved Nintendo with a passion... :'( Edit: Hey, at least I have a few friends in school that like Nintendo like me! And one's a girl! :D Plus, there's the internet! (and my cousin HAS sorta tried to bond with me, so no harm I guess)

The series grew up with everyone who played them all,starting off simple on GC barely understanding the new world,getting more used to it in wild world, but still afraid of that mole, city folk becomes a bit more stressful just as life does it is shown with being introduced to the hustle and bustle of the city and extreme grass deterioration,in new leaf it reaches the grown up state where you finally become the mayor and things seem more orderly and peaceful,but not as much when you started GC

What we need to do is try to create new memories. I mean, when I bought this game, I had no idea how beautiful it was going to be. Took the chance and it turned out really good. Nostalgia is intense, but we must not drown in it and live in the past. We may need to do something now, that in a few years later we will remember and smile. Wow! This gives me so much nostalgia that it is not funny. When I was a kid, I lived with my grandmas. Every time it was rainy, we played this. This was years ago but now since I am only 12, I still remember mostly everything. I played this with my brother sister. This is one of the games which you can never forget. This game reminds me of the old times. Now we are mostly grown up with my sister at 11 and my brother at 10. My great-grandmother is now deceased and this song reminds me of her. <3
This is one of those games, that touches peoples heart with all the right reasons. The always continuing clock ticking without you evening having the game on, the endless nights staying up just to watching your town prosper, and socialize with your neighbors. The spending time with your town, through the light rain, the endless sunshine, the perfect nights, and the peaceful snow :) God how I love Animal Crossing...

The greatest game I have ever played. It never ended, never ceased to be fun and interesting. I remember fishing and hunting bugs late at night, and trying to befriend all the villagers at day. I remember rushing to Tom Nooks and the Able Sisters to see what was new. I remember that moment where I finally finished upgrading my house. Every memory from this game is precious to me.

While I liked this game a lot, I preferred most of the mechanics in the Gamecube version. For example, in the GC version your neighbors didn't try move out every 5 minutes. Towns allowed more people in without forcing others out, and also NESes. I like how Wild World added online though, which was awesome. I also liked the coffee shop.

This is just a great theme... Depending on your real life experiences, it can be a very personal piece, either sad, romantic, melancholic or happy. Easily the best AC theme of all the three.

Agreed, wholeheartedly. It's such an unfortunate reality that video game music is instantly derided by the bulk of the music community (and, for that matter, the populace as a whole) once they hear the words "video game" related to a song at all. I have recently become much more aware of just how amazing it can be (and many thanks to SupraDarky in that), and it really is sad that most don't take the time to appreciate songs they probably would love if they weren't told they came from a game...
I've never seen the appeal in animal crossing, but I am definitely intrigued with the Wii Chat that goes along with its latest incarnation. I also love its songs in Brawl.
a bit off topic but I just want to throw this out there: Yeah, when I first played City Folk, I was super pissed cause it felt like I'd just payed $50 for a game I already had on DS, but after sitting with the game for a couple months, the little tweaks and re-balances have started to show through, and the gameplay is better for it. So yeah, it's not fantastically different, but the changes to add up to a better game overall. I'll shut up now. =P
I was addicted to the first game when I was 13, and Wild World 2 years ago. I don't feel like trying the Wii version yet.

Actually, my favourite description for music is as a frame for silence. Rock is so... messy, so much of the time. Some music is made to be soft, quiet, and calming. Rock is not. If you prefer rock, might I suggest some other video?
Animal Crossing is such an amazing game, with BEYOND excellent music to boot. I would definitely have this on my iPod.
