I still own this game along with the super nintendo. I also have Zelda a Link to the Past, Super Street Fighter, Mario All Stars, Mario Kart, Pilotwings, Power Rangers, Power Rangers the Movie along with many great others
I remember this was the last level in DKC1 and it took me forever to wrap!
i remember playing dkc in the good old 90s w/ my older brother & even my mother! what a fun fun game. i tell ya, kids of today HAVE NO IDEA what they missed out on. NO IDEA whatsoever. they suck!

I hate RARE for going Microsoft... They had such incredible gems, such as Conker's Bad Fur Day, and they could've continued to collaborate with Nintendo to create amazing games, for the 3DS and Wii-U. Now they're stuck making stupid Kinect games... At least Nintendo kept the rights to Donkey Kong, otherwise all hell would've broken.

I mean online gaming is good in some cases, but just going over to friends' houses and staying up all night duking it out on Killer Instinct or playing games like Super Mario World and DKC was always great. Now days games rarely have multiplayer adventure modes that let you do that.
Back when you actually had to have a real social life to enjoy multiplayer.Not just having to just sit on your asses and play with a bunch of strangers through the internet.

@LinkEX The collecting of golden...Things, I guess and the jumping :P Some reviewers who at the time gave this game super high rating, but later wrote that it was basically a SMB ripoff Some people see this, other people see that, I just played it and had alotta fun ^^

Seriously. HOW good is this game? The art. The music. The gameplay. This game made me fall in love with not just video gaming.... But with art and music as well. Incredible.

This song conveys a feeling of loneliness and melancholy - it's perfectly fitting the extensive caves and mines the levels and music take place in. David Wise & Co. did a fantastic job in creating the DK-soundtracks. David Wise is and will forever be my favourite soundtrack-composer.
One of the many reasons why I choose Nintendo over Sony, nuff said.

@CloudOfDarkness9999 Actually no, it was Dave Wise who made the Jungle Hijinx theme, Eveline did make the overworld theme and the Crystal Caverns Theme yes, and she didn't compose ALL the music for DKC 3, both her and Dave composed them, she probably did more tracks though.
Guys!! DAMMIT! I love David Wise, believe me. BUT You need to give credit to Eveline Fischer too! She made jungle hijinx music, the overworld theme the crystal caverns theme and ALL the music of DKC 3

Actually I'd rather see Retro Studios keep on with the series. I think that Rare has completely lost their touch and it's hard to see them regain it. David Wise is also making less impressive music now than before. Though it would be awesome if they made a comeback, but hard to imagine.

@DarknessWeaver I know I've got DKCR. The new game is actually pretty sweet. In some aspects it's actually better than the original. Unfortunately it takes the atmosphere of most modern nintendo games and is a little too cheery for my taste. I loved dkc for its meloncholy tunes and environments, not to mention the kremlings were pretty badass :P

The DKC1 soundtrack is amazing. While DKC2 is epic and sweeping, DKC1 tends to be more ambient, something extremely rare in platformers. I think that it gives the game an unique charm.

Oh my god, I remember this song.... It's just about the only song I remember from this game besides the title music. This song is so epic, and shows the darker side of the game, how it wasn't all banana trees and jumping on beavers and crocodile dudes and riding rhinos. How it was a maze of dark tunnels, where anything could come out and take all of your lives without you realizing...

This was one of a few songs I picked out during my recent replay of this game as being something special. The Factory, Coral Capers, and Ice Cave themes (don't know the titles, sorry!) being the others. And the final battle, of course. I fully agree with the comment that the DKC OST was about atmosphere, and yet it also manages to have some very intricate melodies that work outside of the atmosphere of the game.
Supra, you might as well put up every track from the three DKC games. Amazing soundtracks.
