@Evilriku13 I think at least 'wasser' is a German word. It's water, I believe. Kirsch is some kind of brandy distilled from the fermented juice of cherries/berries. I wonder why they put those things together, lol.

Yeah, Albedo is awesome. He has one of my favorite scenes in gaming in the first Xenosaga, the one with Momo towards the end of the game. You get to see how insane he really is. Love it.

That's what's amazing about those characters. They have immense power, but their unpredictable. And their insanity has them pull off some of the most evil acts one could ever see. Makes for great drama, and great villains.

Wesker was an egomaniacal prick, he didn't care about the world, he only cared about proving he was superior to Spencer, the one who created him and shaped his life. He furthered the goal Spencer was following, only to give Spencer one last middle finger. As for Liquid... daddy issues. All he ever did, again, was try to do what Big Boss could not, only because Big Boss did not like him.
Well, I don't think we can deny his mind was twisted by that point in time, but he had his reasons. Rubedo just lucked out that he was picked by people who actually treated him decently.

Umm, wesker and liquid aren't even remotely evil. They were fighting to change the world. Wesker was trying to further the evolution of man and liquid was trying to free the world from the tight grip that the patriots had on the world. They could both be iewd as protagonists if you agree with their end goal. Same with any good antagonist with substance out there. Hell, even hitler thought he was doing the right thing. He was by no means evil. His goal just became a sick mockary of goodness.

I'm sure Kefka was somewhat of a inspiration on Albedo, considering both are pretty much insane. Also the reason why I love Albedo so fucking much.
And unlike Kefka, Albedo actually has depth underneath that insanity. An entertaining, psychotic villain, but a complex character at the same time.

I've played Xenosaga I, II, and IIII as well as Suikoden I, and II and I still believe that Albedo trumps her. He freaking rips his arms and head off of his body in the English version and just laughs about it. You should play them, they are all really great games.
I've only played Xenogears from the series and I don't know who Albedo is, but Luca Blight from Suikoden II is damn sinister and also makes Kefka seem pretty civil. Can't name many other villians that eat a handful of crossbow bolts in a surprise ambush and still takes eighteen heroes to down lol. Shu: "Luca, you're luck has run out!! You have no soldiers and you're wounded! You can't break out of my trap!!!" Luca: "You're trap? Wahahahahaha!! All I can see is a bunch of squealing pigs!!!"
I don't think it's fair to call Albedo evil. He's fairly evil in Episode I but develops and changes in Episode's II and III.

Albedo was one of my fav videogame villain till... well i already said it..
Keep in mind that what happened at the end of 2 is what allowed him to be good. He got to die(came back as a testament, but died) and that's what drove him insane from the beginning was his immortality. The fact that he finally made peace with his Brother Rubedo calmed his Maniacal tendencies.

WTF he had the potential to become the neo Kefka and The Joker of videogame´s world till he turn´d to be a sentimental prick, anyways he is a good character and love him as a maniacal villain (Xeno 1) but he is less evil than the likes of Wesker, Liquid, Luca (Suikoden II) and the most evil bastard around there Colonel Volgin!!!

thing is, in the Japanese version, this guy was LESS scary. first off, in that version he used a knife to dismember himself, not his own hands. Crispen Freeman was WAY creepyer then the Japanese VO.

Uncensored version: he cracks the Realian's arm and then throws the corpse away. Scares MOMO with a knife and then cuts his arm and head with it. Head is seen talking in the ground. Censored version: he drops the Realian's arm and you can't see when he gets rid of the corpse. He then scares MOMO by getting close to her and somehow cuts his arm, then proceeds to tear his head appart from his body with his bare hands. Head is seen talking in the ground next to the body. Which is creepier?

I think the appeal of Albedo was the combination of sheer power with a staggering amount of insanity. Not unlike Kefka for FF6.

@Darkmajesty22 I find that RPGs in general are really good at making Villains that when it boils down to it, even if you think their methods are selfish/abhorrent/monstrous/unethical, you really end up finding yourself resonating with some, if not all aspects, of their philosophy. This happened to me with the Killer from Persona 4, Kefka, Sephiroth, Xemnas, etc.
Really powerful song. Not familiar with the series but I'll probably have to try it out now. This song to me seems to give off an aura of perversion or sacrilege, for some reason.
Albedo is probably one of the most under rated villains in the history of ever. He puts Sephiroth to shame!
Perhaps the greatest videogame villian of all time. In episode I we are treated to (by any RPG standards) one truly sick bastard with scene after scene of horrifying insanity. In the second game we gain first perspective insight of Albedo the innocent and naive child, learning the torment of what it means to live forever. After a good 5 or 6 years of playing I still believe that Albedo and Rubedo are two of the most fleshed out characters in RPG history. Sooooo much character development.

Those words you're hearing aren't words... they're what's Vocalization.... and that's just what it is. Might be like 1 or 2 words in the entire theme... but I wouldn't expect them to be english for some reason.

Then he goes on these long rants about things you don't care about or can't comprehend and you're sitting at the table afraid to make eye contact with him. Good ole uncle Albedo. I miss Xenosaga!!!

@acidragdoll I think he's puting on a show so people won't know any of his dirty little secrets. The part with MOMO almost confirms it. One of the few times a game scene creeped me out. Normally I like being creeped out, but not how it went for that one scene.

Most people seem to think, that Villians like Sephiroth, are "Bad Ass".(Hur Hur I have a big sword) It's really Villians like Albedo that shine. Unique Personality, a real past, and a truly devious agenda. Albedo is just so full of Character it's amazing, and really shames a lot of the other villains out there.

Personally, I think that Ep. I had the best music out of the entire Xenosaga series. Yasunori Mitsuda did a bunch of great pieces that I think Yuji Kajiura fell a little short of. I think "Last Battle" was the best song of the series...and in the following episodes, "Sweet Song" was the only thing that stuck in my head from Ep. II, and Ep. III didn't have any defining songs for me. Maybe it's because the London Philharmonic Orchestra played for Ep. I that I found it so likable ^_^...

I think Albedo might be one of Crispen Freeman's greatest roles. He's such a badass and now he's an -insane- badass. There are so very few songs that could do the job of accurately capturing this incredible madman, but as to be expected of Xenosaga's soundtrack, it does it stellarly.
If I remember correctly the developers almost had to cut that scene from the game because of how bad it was, the managed to keep it in though they just had to edit some things. Still, that scene was like something out of a stephen king novel, very disturbing scene.
Now you finally have all three games up here :) I lol'd when he tore his head off and grew a new one.
