And there was I, expecting the game to end after Yamata no Orochi only to be surprised by Ryoshima Coast after that. Man, what a game.
Should be in top 200s.

One of the best games ever made. As somebody who usually loses interest in adventure games after about 10-20 hours and thus never beats them, by time I finished this game after about 70 hours I was genuinely upset that it was over so soon.

Just goes to show that commercial success is meaningless in regards to a game's greatness.
Its main flaw, in my opinion, is that not many people know much of anything about Japanese mythology. It's something of a niche game in that regard. That's not to say those with no knowledge of the subject can't get into it. *cough* Chuggaaconroy *cough*
Well, it got remastered for PS3, rereleased for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Switch, so I think it made a lot of sales eventually.

I just bought this game off Amazon. I forgot it wasn't in my hidden gems collection and I have played this before. Simply one of the best games on the PS2. My .hack collection is starting to mark up in price. Love for the Retro. <3

Such a beautiful game. It was an under-appreciated masterpiece, even after it was ported to the Wii as well. One of the only games my girlfriend watched me play, just because it was so pretty. The humour was also really funny. I know I laughed out loud a few times while playing it. The DS one (Okamiden) was a gem in its own right. With fantastic visuals and spot on music. Hey Capcom, how about a sequel??!?!
This is my favorite game as well! The graphixs are astounishing, the complete OST is a masterpiece, the story...well the more you try to do 100% of the game the more you discover about it! The most beautifull fact if that i've played this game for nearly 600 hours, and i still discover some new things! Haha
We got a sequal is called Okamiden and it's on the Ds or 3Ds, one of the two.

I like the one with drums more! Is it a day/night thing? I didn't really notice when playing the game, which is pretty dumb.
That's when we get the double jump ability and we draw the moon's so we can get in the sunken ship, miss this game!!

I've noticed it too. Around 1:42 and again at about 4:16 there's a part that reminds me of Chrono Trigger. I can't really say for FFVI since I've never played it (though I will someday).

I've had this game sitting on my table for quite some time now, opened but not played. Got it for like $10 a while back, but I've been playing other games that have recently been coming out. After hearing this, I'm thinking maybe I should change that. Also, parts of this song remind me of the Airship Theme from FFVI, and others remind me of the Main Theme from Chrono Trigger. Has anyone else noticed that?

Not so bad to handle on PS2. And graphics really seems better on it. Warmer and softer colors.
I never really got into this game, just didn't really hook me up, but my god, is the music in it beautiful
I never knew of this game before chugga LPed it. But after he finished, i got the game for myself, and boy am i glad i did. it is simply a work of art. He may not be my fav LPer anymore, but boy i have mad respect for the guy.

@L5Animations the brush techniques work much better with the wii version. its understandable how people prefer the wii version.

@gunslingerfry To me, Okami = Zelda in terms of awesomeness and preference, I can't possibly have one without missing the other, but to me, the moment that struck me about the two being similar was when you were a wolf in front of a broken bridge with a fairy-like partner.
Such a huge area to explore, but that was a great thing. I love this theme, and it's great to run around with flowers in your wake. Then all of a sudden you run into a demon scroll and have to fight, only to be returned to a lush coast and beautiful music.
i want another okami or a remake but on ps3 or psVita this games graphic style and music were beautiful and imagining it on on a new console :3

@foolboyv5 Trust me... it would be a much, much, much wiser idea to do the opposite. Okami is absolutely amazing whether or not you've already watched someone play through the story and completely dwarfs Okamiden's story and visuals. You CANNOT pass this game up.
I havent played this game, But im watching Chugga's Lets Play of it, I admit this game is fucking epic!, Unfortunatly though im gonna skip this game and go straight to Okamiden once it comes out
This is probably the most emotionally charged soundtrack to date. One can certainly tell that Okami, whether it be the game or the music, truly has the soul of those involved within.
i love okami the sound is awsemoe the story its cool and the world is big ^^

Men,,, Okami is simply one of the best games this decade offered to us,,,, real art, real fun,,,real emotions,,,, inovative, hard, but not impossible, epic,,,, when everybody talks about "real": gears of war, god fo war, call of duty, Okmai enters and makes us remember that, the importan is not how "real" a game is: is what makes us feel,,, Okami forever!!!!!!

I know the old "1 person missed the like button" comment gets posted a lot, but honestly, the only explanation that my mind can take that someone pushed the thumbs down button is that they were heading for the 'like' button and the cursor slipped. It's the only possible explanation. Epic song. Epic game.

Man I thought video games were dead. Then I played Okami an I stopped to think.
I get a huge Braveheart vibe from this song... a testament to how epic it is, I guess.

God, Okami is amazing. Definitely has great music. This, Tama's theme, Kamui, Hana Valley, Waka's theme, Orca's theme, I could go on for pages.
I love this song! I'm playing okami right now! I've had already 30 hours of gameplay, and i'm almost done at sei-an city! I just got through ryoshima coast, and i loved the music from the first time i heard it! It kinda reminds me of braveheart in a strange way... I've got a long way to go in Okami, but this is my favorite song, and will be i guess...
I really like the Okami music, especially the song you hear when you bloom a guardian sapling. But this one is indeed very beautiful :).
I went online and bought Okami's soundtrack the moment I heard this song on my PS2, over two years ago I think. The OST has been on my ipod ever since. Truly epic.

Hmmm... I guess this is the best place to ask. Should I get the wii version of this game? I really want to play it, but I heard some complaints about the wii version with the controls being annoying and stuff.
I played Okami after playing TP, but I agree, they're almost different takes on the same game. In both, you play as wolves, and in both, you cleanse or purify lands taken over by darkness.
I mixed both versions. Check out the second half, if that's what you mean.
This is the 'minimum' version. I personally think the other version (with the Japanese flute) sounds a lot more epic.

My favorite place was that village of bug dudes. I loved traversing the maps too, since they had epic themes like this. I want to buy it, but I dunno if I should buy the Wii or PS2 version...(I played the PS2 one). Oh, by the way, 1:38 sounds similar to the cooldown part in Xenogears' Knight of Fire boss theme!
