Love this boss battle, infact it's probably my favourite. The boss with the dark saints was epic because it was a challenge.

There's something I love about that part at 0:24. It's just so out of place, so goofy, it sounds like something out of a Mario game. Eyebrow man is up to some shady shit, but that doesn't mean we can't have some fun. I can just picture Jansen in the back, playing the cowbell, screwing up Gongora's big dramatic entrance.
I swear it's actually the same sample from one of the boss themes in Super Mario Sunshine. I don't know the song's title, but it plays when fighting those paint-covered piranha plants in Delfino Plaza.
You know what this song needs? More cowbell!

They had to advertise it like a final fantasy..... trust me no one would give it a fuck you.... everyone is jrpg hungry in these times where every second game is an ego shooter. Lets trust in final fantasy 15... (Lost odyssey was the true ff13)

Yeah no shit. If this was actually labelled a Final Fantasy it would be so highly regarded. I honestly feel like this is Hirinobus best game ever and Uematsu does the best he's ever done on the ost for this game. Its the best final fantasy and its not even branded as one. Its the mastery of 9 games into 1.

IMO this game is actually a beast... It's true what you say... such a lame that "gamers" gave a fuck about a reall masterpiece... I Just bought this game knowin' nothing about it, and i just don't regret nothing... One of the best games ever....
Even though this game was 360/PS2 generation, it proved that traditional RPGs with side quests and brilliantly written stories can still work. Unfortunately, Square didn't get the message, and keeps selling us (barely) interactive movies that pretend to be games.
Lost Odyssey is truly the "Lost Final Fantasy". I'm pretty sure that's why they chose the name.

It's a whole package kind of deal but graphics, play the least role. If the game is written well enough you can get every bit of info that would you need even in the days of 8bit. I'd prefer No voice work vs. horrible. Music I think play an important role in the storytelling and the storytelling is important in presenting the story. If the telling of it is boring, the story itself no matter how great will also seem boring. Characters are part of the story. Only if the gameplay is bad is it a -

yep, ff7 is what broke final fantasy into the western market, before then it wasnt very successful outside of japan.
Not to mention that these days, every new Final Fantasy (in the numbered series) has invariably sucked. It's the same as with Emmerich's "Godzilla;" it holds the name and NOTHING more that the name is supposed to come with.
Skies of Arcadia will forever be a superior title to FF7.

Lost Odyssey is a little more difficult than most other turn-based games because it isn't simply about grinding for level but you will actually need to utilize strategy. With that in mind, give it another shot.
I actually stopped playing this game because it was just too hard. This tune makes me want to give it another go!

@Dracowrath1 Even if it wasn't x-box exclusive, I doubt it would have made as much as FFXIII. LO is the better game by far but, fact is, a new IP just can't compete against a well-known one. Think about it, how long did it take the Final Fantasy series to get to the point where it was selling over a million copies? Also, even though I personally love JRPGs, the genre just isn't that popular with newer gamers. Unless you're a well known series like the FF series, you probably won't sell.

@LinkEX I don't know~ Mistwalker saying they've cancelled ideas of making sequels to this game and pretty much seen as a financial loss to the company could be a sign of what I mean. It's arguably one of the last great epic RPGs of the decade. Definitely did not get what we got from LO from FFXIII. Yet that game made more than 5x what this did. Gamers whined to SE about nonlinear gameplay in that game, yet when games like LO fail like this, who can blame them for making FFXIII what it was?

@4chan4evar don't use the term JRPG, and you are a RPG lightweight if you found the game TOO hard - powerlevelling is a nessesaty for most good RPGs.
I complete love this game, I beat everything, optional stuff and all, except for one thing, which was the DLC (downloadable content), the trick to that boss is so tedious I haven't done it yet, cuz aparently Sed needs to be a decent level, and I barely used him. so I've been putting it off...sucks that ur timed with that boss. but Lost Odyessy has the most amazing music, this game is my 2nd fav when it comes to music and story, right under Final Fantasy VII
xD I'm such a nerd. I just finished my fourth complete playthrough of this game, all optional bosses and everything... But man, favorite game of all time or what ;-; makes me want to sob for how amazing it is XDDD
@4chan4evar don't worry this game was quite hard for my first time through the trick is to power level at each new place you get to until you stop gaining a level per battle and then the area gets really easy =)
@SupraDarky The final boss in the backyard is a freaking joke, you have to rely on absorb/0damage to survive haha;DD I mean attacks that do 25k + on everyone in your party, sheesh

I can definitely say without a doubt this is one of THE hardest RPGs I've ever played xD If you don't have at least SOME skill with RPGs, this game can AND WILL rape you

When I first heard this song I quit playing the game to listen and I loved it... but at 1:52 it goes from great... to over the top epic. Adding the Choir there turns this into one of the most memorable VG tunes of all time.

I wonder when or if the World Map music is gonna make an appearance on the list. That should in particular is a bit sneaky, at first you think its slow and calming but then it picks up and becomes pretty epic. :D

I found this game to be hard at first but the more I played the easier it got. In the end I found the game a bit too easy actually and I just breezed through it. That doesn't include the haaaaard optional dungeons though. :P
