Why does this game look and feel so old despite coming out in 2008?

Mega Man 9 is such a difficult game, I cannot get through Jewel Man's stage! xD It's a great game, tight controls and all, but it's SUCH a disappointment that the Mega Buster can no longer charge up and that Mega Man can't slide anymore. Those were like my two favorite things, but whatever! This soundtrack is awesome and made it up to me.
i think it tried to go to its roots with this one, Megaman 1 was difficult and didnt have slide or charge.
@OrangeSteelStudios I find MM9 easier, and much more fun to play than MM1. MM1 only pissed me off so much, especially with those cyclops robot hopping around that take like 3/4 of your health with a single hit. I'm really not that big of a fan of MM1, but still acknowledge it because it was Mega Man's first appearance in the video game history.
@somemetalguy20 idk why but mm1 was never a problem for me, but another piece is i had a boss weakness chart and strategy guides

What are you talking about? This is a song that came from Mega Man 9, a game that was designed to replicate an NES game. The song is one that CAN be played on an NES. And I'm not sure what you're trying to get at with the whole "emulators in max quality". My point is, the lower the quality, the less it sounds like the original song.
That's not how it works though. When you downgrade sound audio, it just makes it sound less like how it was originally uploaded. Downgrading the sound quality of an mp3 file for an NES song doesn't make it sound more like an NES song, it just makes the song itself sound crappier. You want to keep it as high-quality as possible to preserve the song as best as possible.

Yes, I have. But that's not how 240p works. Changing a Youtube video to "240p" doesn't set it to "NES audio quality". It just makes it sound less like how it was uploaded.

I believe this is because 240P is closer to the actual OST quality since MM9 was made retro style like NES, apparently higher quality only extrapolates upon whats there and it sounds worse...

@mainland09 The "Man" suffix included in nearly every Robot Master's name is just part of the long-running naming scheme. The name "Mega Boy" sounds fairly bad to begin with, so plastering it into the middle of every other "Man" character would make it seem out of place.

@Duorsa The graphical engine is 8 bits, which means it's, yes, 1 byte. Now, the size of the game itself isn't only a byte of information. Pick the first Megaman game, for example, it said in the box that it had one Megabit of memory, which equals to 125 KB as aforementioned. But don't worry, that's a common mistake, even Stuttering Craig mistook both.

To tell the truth, I started madly laughing when I first saw this boxart. I never got my hands on the first one's box, but I knew about it. And I say this is the boldest (And freaking FUNNIEST) way possible to have an inside joke: put it right on the box!

Heh, have you seen the two different Megaman 2 boxarts? In one Megaman looks more like a night in shining armor and in the other he's a swat trooped with a handgun and a blue pyjamas and Dr Light commands the robots to attack him. Either that or Wily had a massive beard and glasses.

The whole cover art is a reference to the horrendously terrible original Mega Man's boxart (Seriously, have you looked it up? There are very, very few box arts that have come close to being as absolutely irrelevant - only "Mobile Light Force 2" beats it out, I think)

I did find it pretty clever of Capcom to use the art style they used about 20 years ago on the other Megaman games Like the previous boxes, they made some things look a tad inaccurate, but cooler, like Galaxyman and Wily in the background... it would have been cool if they pixelated that version of Wily there ^ ^ 8-BIT WILL NEVER DIE! :D

handgun is a sidearm so if you run out of ammo in a tight spot, just press Q to switch weapons and use the handgun true the primary weapon is more powerful/useful, so use the handgun sparingly

This was actually done as a reference to the old US boxart pictures where Megaman was given a somewhat "westernized" appearance. Due to the 8-bit graphics, the Mega Buster could be misinterpreted as a gun... I think... O.o
one of the best and the hardes 8-bit megaman i know (i know em all xD) its very fun to play and even after 10 deaths in the same stage you will still keep playing :D it will be the best game you can buy for 1000 wiipoints....
