This theme has a vibe. I had only played the first two areas on Wii U so I finally bought the Switch version last month despite how ridiculous it is that it's still full price, and of course it went on sale a few days later. It's a good thing this is such an awesome platformer. Frankly, I already loved Returns and I couldn't say that TF is that much better, to me it's a continuation of greatness in terms of level design. The soundtrack by David Wise and rolling without having to use the Wiimote are the best improvements, as well as having Dixie as a partner (I almost never used Diddy or Cranky). One thing though and I'm not sure if I'm the only one who thinks that, but I did find the controls a bit unresponsive sometimes, as if there was a constant input lag that I had to adapt to. Along with the SNES trilogy and Returns, this game cements DKC as my favorite 2D platformer series with Mario.

I recently finished a playthrough of the Wii U version, and I didn’t notice a lag. I haven’t played the Switch version, so I can’t say if there’s one there.

I had similar input lag when I played Celeste but it was only when the switch was docked. In handheld I didn't notice any lag. Kind of weird tho

@Jordi Reinsma I got the PS1 a bit late compared to the N64 and when I finally gave CB a shot I really didn't think it was anything special. I much prefered the Spyro series on the PS1, but I have to admit I was comparing most 3D platformers at the time to Mario 64 which is to me one of best the games ever made. I'll give the CB series more listens.

@SupraDarky oh I see! Yeah, I noticed just some PS1 games, mostly RPGs. I mentioned Crash because of the recent revival on the franchise! It's a nice timing to give it a try :) Btw I love Spyro just as much! If you're receiving any suggestions, Crash Twinsanity has a top tier soundtrack, made entirely acapella.

I played DKC TF on the Wii U gamepad and didn't feel any lag Also TF is way better than Country Returns purely due to the lack of waggling

@Ioannis Chatzikyriakos Input lag is caused by slow TV response rates. That's why that happened to you like that.

@krickugame mode on older tvs is a main culrprit for display lag, it takes awful lag and makes it minimal but its still there and affects tons of unknowing gamers. Try using a pc monitor and play a game with tight controls that your good at, you'll notice the difference

This soundtrack of this game is my favorite. It's very lovely and relaxing. If you like this OST listen to the game Snake Pass.

Despite finishing it before I had to get this title for Switch once again. Hands down one of the best platformers from the last decade, not only because of the challenging, unique mechanics in every level, but because of the fantastic soundtrack Wise made. Every run is a joy thanks to it

I've beaten Tropical Freeze on the Wii U, though not 100%, and I want to do that on the Switch, and also to try Funky mode! :D I agree that Dixie is the best Kong, and also that the DK series and Mario series are the kings of 2D platformers, and of game series' in general, at least to me. :) David Wise is also one of my top favorite VGM composers of all time, right up there with: Koji Kondo, Grant Kirkhope (DK64, Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee, Mario + Rabbids), Yuka Tsujiyoko & Taishi Senda (Paper Mario), Yoko Shimomura (Super Mario RPG, Mario & Luigi, Kingdom Hearts) Eveline Novakovic (DKC and DKC3), Kenta Nagata (Mario Kart 64), Shinobu Nagata (Super Mario Sunshine), Kazumi Totaka (Yoshi series and Pikmin series), and Hajime Wakai (Pikmin series). ^_^ (I am so thankful I can look these names up online! XD)

@Sonic the Hedgehog I just listed the game music that I'm most familiar with, I'm aware that those composers did a lot more for a lot of other games, but I'm not as familiar with them. I bet Street Fighter II has a great soundtrack, though! I'll have to listen to it sometime! :)

@Sonic the Hedgehog Yeah, he is! :) I'm just not as familiar with his work as the others that I listed. My older brothers had a Sega when I was little, and I have vague memories of it, but then it broke somehow and we never got another one... I can remember the boot up of the Sega Genesis, and a little bit of some Sonic games and Aladdin. But later I heard a lot of Crush 40's songs: they're really good! I especially like Sonic Heroes's soundtrack! :D
