I played through this game recently and all the people who recommended it to me were right, it's a metroidvania gem. The presentation is top notch, it has an all-star cast of composers (Koshiro who made this one, Sakuraba, Yamane, Kobayashi...) and it offers a good challenge with a nice variety of gameplay. There were definitely some frustrating sections, but that's to be expected. I actually never touched the Monster Boy series before and this definitely makes me want to look into it more. Love the jazzy turn this theme takes.

Yoooo I remember telling you about this game about two months ago lol. Outstanding game for sure, one of the best in it's genre even. The music is just the cherry on the top.

Just finished it last week. Was all in all really satisfied with it. The Crystal cave has to ne one of my favorite tracks.

Do play Wonder Boy in the Monster Land and Wonder Boy: the Dragon's Trap. Both are real gems. Dragon's Trap got a beautiful remaster on Steam some time ago. It was a very pleasant nostalgia trip down the memory lane. This one is on my wishlist, I'll surely get it eventually. Edit: I mean Monster Boy and Cursed Kingdom here.

I couldn't beat the snake boss. Seemed like it has uneven difficulty. I was also sick of being a pig for so many hours. I was promised more variety.

Thanks for highlighting this gem of a soundtrack! I'm partial to Keiki Kobayashi's Maze Cave myself.

And also The Volcano theme is literally fire! And yeah this game is a hidden masterpiece! You can tell the developers really poured their heart and soul into it. Especially the composers! Great game!
