It would be nice to get a new PMD for the Switch, it's a refreshing side-series for a franchise that is often criticized as being too safe and conservative. I still have a lot of catching up to do with the mainline games, but how do you guys like Sword/Shield so far?

SupraDarky I personally think Sword/Shield is one of the best Pokémon games. There’s definitely a lot you can nitpick but what the game does, it does well.

I don't think sword and shield hit as hard as it could have, needed a deeper story to be honest.

Sword/Shield was just a disappointment to me. Waited 2 years for something the could have been much better.

It's just OK. The second half is very clearly rushed in several areas and it feels like they dumped all the character development in just one kid. Gameplay wise it's fine, it's similar to Gen 7, but it could be better. Wild Area is neato.

I know it's a lot to ask for, but after missing the last 2 mainline Pokemon games, I hope that both a) I get far enough removed from Pokemon, and b) the quality of the games improves to a point that I can just hop into a random game and feel the sense of adventure and living in a "Pokemon World" that I feel has been missing from the last few games. Even now I can see a couple of Pokemon in the picture here that I don't recognize. I just feel like the series has forced itself into creating a decent amount of new Mons for each game instead of focusing on what made the series special in the first place - a strange new world that's populated with wild and fantastical (but somewhat realistic; looking at you Ultra-Beasts) monsters.

Though the more recent games really beefed it with the writing and gameplay decisions I still can’t understand when the camera is SO ZOOMED IN
