Did you like the first Guacamelee? You will love this sequel. You did not? You won't. The first game made my top 3 of the year and this game is probably better in every way, but I cannot deny that after 5 years I wanted a bit more than "more of the same, but better". The luchador setting is still fresh, but it doesn't feel unique anymore. The combat mechanics are still amazing and easily one of my favorites in the genre. I do feel like there is something I cannot explain about this series, which is how I completely get addicted to it and love it the whole way through, but then a couple months pass and I have hard time remembering most of its moments. One thing for sure, I do remember the Chicken Illuminati HQ. The chicken transformation and its mechanics were definitely a highlight of this sequel.

I never played the game, but I did see an LP of it; and I did like the humor and references. I wound up getting the first game to get the discount on the second; but I've yet to play either of them.

Someone mentioned today how Guacamelee has a good sense of humor, but I haven't played it. Now I understand :)

Mechanically Guacamelee 2 is great, but I didn't like how crazy the game went with its comedic style. It didn't work for me at all, because it's too much and too much of the same. Amazing music though.

Yeah, the second game is more the same but it's not a bad thing. However, if they are making a third one, they must figure out something new for the gameplay.

The "8-bit" part heavily reminds me of some tune from an NES game, but I don't remember which one... edit: Metroid - Kraid's Lair, that's the one.

Yeah I can definitely hear Kraid's Lair as well, similar arpeggios.

Both Guacamelee and Guacamelee 2 were amazing games, I thoroughly enjoyed them.
