Seeing as this IS a Jeremy Soule song, I could totally see the Ebon Kingdom as some copy of any given kingdom in High Rock in The Elder Scrolls. I hope he decides to add this in as an easter egg whenever a main ES game goes to High Rock :D
Amazing song, but always feels sorrowful and sad. As a kid it used to make me sad, and I think it was due to it being around a part in the game where you're lost in a maze as the dog and you're separated from the main character.
This is still one of my favorite SNES games. And one of the reasons I got into RPGs.
Great soundtrack... your videos are actually what got me to play this game. I played the 2-player hack with my SO and it was a blast.

I actually just finished this game for the first time about a week ago, partially because I quite like some of your previous uploads. It was pretty cool, but I think I liked Secret of Mana a little more, which I also finally played. The Hall of Collosia and the Great Pyramid are probably my two favorite tracks from this game.
I love this game, even if the concept of one with different cultures/time periods was already done in Chrono Trigger and Live A Live first.
This game came out before Chrono Trigger, actually.
I checked the date. Chronic trigger was released 2 months before secret of evermore. For some reason I thought SofE was released a year later.
GenericYoutubeComment Channel it might depend on if you're looking at Japan or US release dates. CT maybe came out in Japan before SoE had its US release (being developed in this market), while the US release of CT was after? At any rate, both were being done by separate teams around the same time, so any similarities are likely coincidental.

I still wonder how Jeremy Soule got a job at Squaresoft at the age of 19 and with no previous experience with making game soundtracks...
According to wikipedia: "After completing high school, he took a year to create a portfolio showcasing what he felt video game scores should sound like. Soule sent the tape to LucasArts and Square. Square very much appreciated the portfolio. Soule began working at Square in Seattle only two weeks after first submitting his demo tapes."

Funny how as much as I enjoy Jeremy Soule's work, my favorite soundtrack of his will probably always be this first one when he was 19 years old. What I would give for a sequel also composed by him...! It's good to dream.
I'd settle for a remaster, heck, even a VC release on Switch would be fine. Secret of Evermore and Super Metroid are tied as the best games of my life. Thanks for posting this.
Apparently they had a different composer for most of the development but scrapped the whole thing because it wasn't matching the mood of the game. After that they got Jemery and he made the whole OST from scratch in 3 weeks.
