The reviews for this game have been all over the place and I'm not surprised. There are probably 2 camps here: those who are disappointed that it's too similar to Banjo-Kazooie after all these years, and those who are happy that it's just that. I did hear that the 2nd half doesn't feel as polished as the first, so there might be that as well. Anyhow, it's good to see good ol' Kirkhope and Wise working together on a soundtrack!
Yeah the Fact that reviews are saying it is similar to the Old games, for me seems like a big plus i have missed collectathons
SupraDarky Can't forget about Steve Burke's pretty great contributions, though...but yeah, Kirkhope and Wise sure are excellent with this soundtrack!
I read that the game runs pretty bad on consoles. Kickstarter games rarely seem to get both PC and console ports right
I haven't seen a single critique for this game yet that couldn't be leveled at most of Rare's old games. I've also never seen critics as a whole be so hard on a large scale game being made by a very small team (with the exception of No Man's Sky, but Sony's marketing definitely invited that).
I love David Wise... about Kirkhope... I unfortunately can't say the same.
I heard that it is not as polished as the Banjo-Kazooie titles in many aspects. Though I have not played the game so I would not know from personal experience. I am sure that old fans of the N64 Banjo-Kazooie will enjoy it.
Polished isn't the word that comes to my mind when I think of any Rare game, except maybe the DKC trilogy and Perfect Dark. This is why they were good: They were more concerned with creativity than QA.
Count me in the 2nd half. I'm just glad we're getting a Banjo-esque game in 2017. I don't expect it to reinvent the wheel, I just want a fun platformer in the vein of the games I used to love as a kid.
And there is also the controversy involving Jontron.

Basically he does not monetize them. In fact, he cannot even monetize vgm themes since they are all copyrighted. However, sometimes vgm themes you upload gets banned from certain countries, but you are still able to upload them.
so if i wanted to upload VGMs I could as long as I didnt monetise them?
Yes. There may be some few soundtracks out there that you cannot upload on youtube, but if you happen to upload one of them, all you need to do is delete the video. I think youtube automatically makes them unwatchable if that is the case. Also, you will get a message of youtube what to do if this occurs.

Haven't played this game yet but damn this song is great, it's so damn relaxing. Especially the beginning and towards the end, I really love the guitar parts.

For some reason this track makes me really sad. It feels kinda like a final farewell to all the old platformers. But at the same time has a feeling of welcoming a new era, with fresh and exciting adventures.
So catchy!
Immediately recognisable as David Wise. It's a shame it's a little too similar to some tracks on the Tropical Freeze OST.

My understanding, and I haven't played the game, is that Banjo was a much more inventive, well-made game with a lot more interesting things to do and a better structure. I think the critics criticizing it for not changing enough from the original are also forgetting that the original had more thought put into it from a design standpoint.
David Wise is cheating here by using the Mandolin, which is similar sounding to the ukelele but superior in every way.

Dench Wise = Kirkhope... They are both great and pretty different in their instrumentation and composing.
This feels like a missing track from Diddy Kong Racing. I love it.

Ohhhh right! This was that other Yooka-Laylee track unveiled during development, along with the well-known theme composed by Grant. And yeah, this is definitely David Wise, particularly David Wise coming out of Tropical Freeze. I'd be curious to see when this song plays in the game, as it's definitely pretty unique sounding when it's contrasted with Grant's style of composing music in the game :)
It is really easy to hear that David Wise have worked on this. Very similar to the soundtrack in Tropical Freeze. He really is a great composer.

I never knew David Wise was involved as well. I thought it was only Grant Kirkhope since it was only his music I heard in reviews and promotional trailers. I'm going to wait to hear a port report on the Switch version before making a decision to buy this game. I heard a lot of mixed opinions on this game, and it's not solely due to the similarity of the original Banjo-Kazooie games, almost far from it.
Man I can't wait for this game to come out!
This style of David Wise's music reminds me more of Donkey Kong Country 3 on GBA. Not the other DKC games
Matt Kimura sounds more like tropical freeze especially "busted bayou"
This definitely has the David Wise vibe. It sounds like it was pulled straight out of Tropical Freeze, another one of his masterpieces.
I was thinking exactly this! I absolutely adore Tropical Freeze's soundtrack (probably my favorite videogame soundtrack of all time), and the fact that this is reminiscent of that is very much a good thing.
