Excellent pick. I forced myself through the thoroughly mediocre game just to hear the music (which is fantastic).
This plays in a lush green area with some tutorials near the start. The industrial version's quite good as well.

One of the very few PS2 Square-Enix games I have yet to play, which is especially surprising as I'm a fan of Brave Fencer Musashi. I've heard very mixed reviews of this game back then so I'll have to see for myself. What's certain is that Hamauzu brought us once again an awesome soundtrack.
I've never played this game either but the OST is indeed AMAZING. It straight up has my favorite song ever, Aeolic Guardian, it's a stunningly gorgeous song, absolutely love it. Vixen Maiden is another awesome track on that OST.

It's a great game. Reminded me of Mega Man Legends a lot.
You should give it a shot sometime. While I miss the original art style, Samurai Legend updates the gameplay in a lot of intelligent ways (enemy skills are now permanent upgrades, characters you save actually add new areas to your town, etc).
Honestly, I did not like it. A lot about the game really put me off but I have to re-try it just to see if it maybe it was my child eyes that could not enjoy the game. The first game had so much charisma that I felt was lacking but the mechanics for the game was awesome. Cutting up people before MGR was a thing. Def cool. My standards were too high back then being a huge fan of Brave Fencer Musashi.
