+Terel Denton ikr and this is just the normal battle theme! Sakuraba's normal battle themes are mostly better then the boss tracks - wich is nice because you hear the normal battle theme a lot! But with music like this every single battle is epic!

The soundtrack for this game just makes me go UUUHHGGHH. It's so good. One of the greatest of the 7th generation of consoles. It's unfortunate that Sakuraba's music is really generic-sounding with the Tales series (and he's even aware of it).
I hope they bring in more composers to collaborate on the Tales series. Go-Shiina was a nice touch recently.

The developer of Baten Kaitos...oh this game got my attention back in 2007 I guess! I thought "this has to be good it's from the company who made Baten Kaitos I & II Boy it was a game! The graphic was nice, I loved the characters but the story was...well I played it again just to understand (SPOILER) and I have to say it's a pretty deep and dark story of a little girl who is trapped in an endless spiral of pain and sorrow! Just to live this life over and over again until a yound man entered her world. He's living on the edge of life! A place where he is close to death. After that, the story of that girl changed for the first time and she was able to change her fate. At the end she was falling in love...a girl who was avoided all the time, who never was loved by anyone because of her illness! I really REALLY love the story! It's brilliant in it self! So many hints and you really have to pay attention to it, because it's not so easy to understand! The music is a masterpiece! Well it's from Motoi Sakuraba! He is my favourite VGM composer afterall : )

I think this game and Nier had the best soundtrack in the past generation.

I'm angry that I sold this game before beating it...I suppose i'll have to buy it again. It's too good. The battle theme got stuck in my head out of the blue and i came here to hear it.
One of the few RPGs I've actually beaten. The repetitive combat bores me away from most RPGS, but for some reason the combat in this game always left me with a feeling of true success after every fight.

Really underrated game. Wonderful battle system, beautiful graphics, engaging story based around a real world figure, and great music based around said real world figure. Wanna see more like this from tri-crescendo- way to go. Give it a try if you like jrpgs

it is a good game with a good story
The battle system "evolves" by holding back a lot of it's features for most of the game, thus being very one-dimensional for a long time. Even at full potential the fights still have less depth than most other JRPGs of the last few generations...it just gets even more reaction tests. And about "telling a story" of a real life person...yeah that is unique but also nothing more than a badly implemented gimmick and also overall pointless because Frederic only played a siderole for most of the game!
Cookie-cutter? You've GOT to be kidding me. A truly unique battle system that actually evolves as you play on, a plot that literally is all happening inside someone's head, AND it breaks the "pure gaming" barrier by telling the story of a phenomenal composer who actually existed in real life. Please, tell me what other games include those elements.
Absolutely amazing soundtrack, maybe one of the best of all time for the genre. Shame that it was wasted on such a unispired excuse for a cookie-cutter JRPG. Then again, without the fantastic music I would've quit after a few hours. Instead I started kinda enjoying the unchallenging but flashy battles and made fun of the nonsensical plot and terrible cutscenes. Props to Sakuraba once again.
Well, i knew that it was Sakuraba. Was mentioning that the connection is likely because Eternal Sonata was developed by Tri-Cresendo, the guys behind Baten Kaitos.

this game was actually one of my fave games on the xbox. and tales of vesperia. I always enjoy playin RPG games. That's basically the only kind of games i ever play actually. On my ipod touch, PC, Xbox, even my wii and ps2, nothin but a bunch of RPG games. sure i'll play non rpg here and there but most of the time, im on that RPG/MMORPG stuff. RPG RULES!!!! :D

It is a perfect Co-Op RPG for beginners. Played it start to finish with my now fiance so much fun - the gameplay was addictive during bosses.

This is one of the best compositions for a battle theme in an RPG since -- EVER, really. The score for this game almost rivals the works of Mr. Meguro's modernist approach to the Persona franchise, and absolutely surpasses even Mr. Uematsu's work in the early Final Fantasy instalments.

This is a fairly straightforward RPG. It isn't as complex or long as Namco's Tales series (if you played those). The story IMO isn't as deep as those either. This is something you enjoy for a few days. If you have both PS3 and Xbox360, get the PS3 version as there are bonus dungeons and stuff on the PS3 version.
If you like RPGs, I'd say yes.

@luneth34 i played through nastier dungeons, but what made me itchy was the "team lvl" and the ending. the enemies were repetitive, and i wish you could recruit the human bosses. the charactor designs were to nice to die.

@jahmyire66 Ubuntu is awesome, but hard to setup. Also, many drivers have no Linux-version, so you also need to do some detours to install some things. Nevertheless, for some people(including me), it's very useful: It's way faster than windows, has multiple desktops, a software center where you can get everything and some pretty useful software. Windows is useable out of the box. Ubuntu needs effort and care, but rewards you with neat functions/performance.

I was put off playing this game a couple years back because of the dungeons (How is it physically possible for a pirate ship to have four floors?) I popped it back into my xbox the other day and remembered why i got it.

I love the music and style of this game. The story you probably only like if you like anime(typically emo). The gameplay pales a bit in comparison, since it's just a plain old JRPG with an innovative combat system, but you can't have everything. :)

@enetickk It is for both PS3 and Xbox360 I have it for PS3 and absolutely love it. The game itself is revolved around music and is about Frederick Chopin, a famous composer. They use some of his compositions in the game too.

I don't really like the story as much as the music and the battles. They are better than the story, then again what is better than this music!
@Stellarcirclefive Waltz wasn't that hard, was he? Just level a bit more with the characters you want to fight him with (Allegretto, Jazz and Falsetto were my kick-ass team), give them some good equipment (for example, I gave Jazz something so he would move a lot faster) and you're bound to win. You should definetly ry to, because the end of this game is very beautiful :)
I was never able to beat this game. This is pretty much how it went down: Me- "Okay Count Waltz I'm gonna beat you musically inspired ass into oblivion!" Waltz- "O rly? Me- "Uhhhh...yeah." Waltz- "........APOCOLYPSE FALL!!!!" Me-"HOLY FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU-" *Game Over* However, I did manage to have Marche destroy his Dragon with a single Super Nova, it was sexy to watch :)
This is such a beautiful game, really... Yes, there are some minor points that could be improved, but the overal experience just blows them all away. It's got beautiful anime graphics, great characters, an entertaining battle-system that improves itself when making progress, and the best music I've ever heard in a game before. You can feel that there's been put so much love and effort into this game by Tri-Cresendo. I will love his game forever and in my opinion, it's the best game ever made! :)

I only got this game the other day and I gotta say after only an hour of gameplay I love it. It's a very nicely done RPG, the battle system is interesting and the music is incredible. As a hardcore RPGer I gotta say it's a nice addition to my collection. The three who dislike this are obviously idiots who cannot appreciate artestry in gaming and probably only follow trends. The dumbasses.

@TheCreed20 From what I've heard, Versus will have a more present feeling, so it will not be as futuristic as FF7 -FFXIII, but neither as medieval as FFI-FFVI. Versus will also have towns,airships and worldmap. So yeah, it will probably be badass! xD Also, FFX is my favorite FF too!

I remember looking for a game to buy at Gamestop a few months ago, and I didn't know what to buy. I then just decide to just pick a random game (and I never do that). The game was called "Eternal Sonata" and when I came home, I started the game and after hearing just the music in the title screen, I knew this game would kick ass.

well thats bacause they tampered with the experience point system for the ps3 version, if you've noticed all of the characters either need way more experience to reach a new level or they've made it so that less experience is given by the creatures, which sucks.
My fan made Eternal Sonata character: Name: Coda Gender: Male Age: 14 Height: 5, 6 Weight: 112 Weapon: large knife that looks like a Piccolo, builds echoes extremely fast Skills: hybrid of AOE's, and multi-hit attacks that start from 8 hits at the least, can steal items, and a few long range debuff attacks Summary: A young boy from the slums of Nonet. He gambles people out of there money in card games and feeds the hungry. He goes with Fred and co. in search of his purpose and great treasures.
only in the hidden dungeon and pirate ship on encore mode sadly... As long as you can guard well the entire game is easy. Still it's an amazing game and I've played through 3 times. =]

Well, things like these often calls for a change in rules of engagement. There's even some changes in Harmony Chain timings, especially Allegretto's Starlight Blast. Third encounter with Fugue makes him a weakling after defeating Rondo, but remains a threat to Falsetto, due to significant level differences between her and the main party. This game was pretty good, there seem to be a lot of interesting and pretty JRPGs coming out these days. Enchanted Arms was great too.
i didn't really like eternal sonata, especially because it was so short, vesperia is a lot better than this, and tales of symphonia is once again better than both other games (just my opinion though)

My observations are incomplete but I'll give you data currently have: In PS3, you earn experience slightly lower/higher than in 360 version in some or most enemies... Major bosses such as Tuba are significantly stronger, especially when my party are in lvl 25 and 24 (took me a lot of time, effort, and cheesesticks area repitition). Some cutscenes are extended/added to increase story depth. New fields are added to make things more challenging and surprises the unwary 360 veterans.

Just got this recently, great game with fantastic music. Normally I don't like turn-based games, the only other one I like is Paper Mario 2.
I actually have both the 360 and PS3 versions. They DO have differnent and unexpected differences... But still, I only clear a portion of the sidequests, including the Xylophone Tower's treasure, but not the gate's entrance, nor the pirate's treasure... I also know how to perform Harmony Chains with efficiency.

Well my opinion is that all or most rpgs are like that xD, but that's why many people like it because once you get into the story, you never want it to end and so every minute of extra playing time would be appreciated. At least, that's what I think. But, it shouldn't be riduclously stretched out where half the game is like useless. I know that Eternal Sonata is one of those better rpgs anyways. I love leveling up to learn new cool looking moves.

I'm going to back you up, mate. This game has amazing music and graphics, but the story is long winded, the levels are long winded, and the boss fights get frustrating midway through. One review I read said it best, "This is a 15 hour game rolled out into a 40 hour game"

First time I heard this theme my ex girlfriend and I enjoyed it very much. Now that she is gone I feel kind of melancholy when I hear it, although I will say that I will probably get to enjoy it with someone else next time I date a girl. I cant believe I made this theme into dating music, ha ha ha... Well even though it brings some memories back, it is still one of the best works from Sakuraba.

Use a program called Audacity. What you need to do is download it, set it to record through your speakers, and then get lame_enc.dll in order to export it as an mp3. A bit of warning, you need a seperate sound card in order to record through a laptop, and you need to set up the microphone settings to be your speakers if you run Windows Vista.

You need to play Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2 for some of Sakuraba's best works, in my opinion. Also, I believe he's only one of the composers for the Tales series games; but I don't know about Vesperia specifically.
Eternal Sonata is... a bit odd. It has an interesting plot for one, but if you don't think about it, you'll just be confused. The gameplay also changes steadily over the course of the game, ensuring it never quite gets old. I'd actually rate it pretty higly.

True, I much regard his works of Baten Kaitos in high esteem, such as Embark on a Voyage and Brave Way, and by the way...I made a vid with the Embark On a Voyage Theme.
Ah I see. Just the thing is I have such high opinions of Sakuruba's work, so I always get disapointed when he creates a soundtrack that's bland or generic. After you play Baten Kaitos it's hard not to have high expectations of him.
...ah...most of the games that Sakuraba works on are time limited, it is not like the ordinary orchestra where conductors are given a substantial ammount of time. For the work that Sakuraba does he deserves more credit than some modern orchestra conductors who only copy the art of the dead....

hmmmm... to me, it sounds like a mid nineties fighting BGM for an anime... possibly Gundam Wing, or maybe found on the actual soundtrack for Wild Arms. I found this sound tryng to be catchy and it almost fails. The main riff sounds TOO much like other main riffs already made, and for some reason I feel like being Irish, drink some beer and dance an Irish jig...

im sorry but you miss the real point if games were not exclusive not as many people would buy the console as they can have it anyway. exclusive games get more sales and the company theyre exclusive to pays them good money such an awesome game like this would help get in sales. and yes this music is beyond awesomeand the game itself is one of the best rpg of all time despite the strange story line. Probably like most Tales games, Namco will market it next to nowhere, and it will be considered a "second fiddle" RPG, simply picked up because theres a period of drought.
Whoever made up the concept "exclusive" is a dipshit. Seriously, why can't games like this be not exclusive? There are games like Mario, Halo, and whatever flagship title playstation has, but games like this or Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy don't deserve to get exclusive treatment only. Making it for a lot more than just Xbox would generate more sales, no? Anyway, aside from my rant, great music!
this freaking game is the ONLY reaons I would consider buying an X-Box (not to insilt anyone who has an X-Box there's just nothing else exclusive to it that I want) But I don't wanna buy an X-Box JUST for this game :'( Oh curses, why did this have to be an exclusive :(
Baten Kaitos (both) was composed by the same composer [Motoi Sakuraba]. He also did Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, and Star Ocean: 'Till the End of Time, among others. Sometimes his music sounds fairly similar, unfortunately, but otherwise it's awesome.

Which I could say the same for most of his Tales games, sadly enough. Vesperia so far doesn't seem like it'll be any different. I wonder what he said when they told him he'd be working with orchestras for this one. "**** YES!" is what I keep imagining.

There are some good 360 games out there. And not to forget the Xbox live arcade's got some good stuff. A whole game of Ultimate Doom ported to the 360 for about 10 bucks is pretty damn good I'd say.
The ending theme to this game ("Kagami Hana") is beautiful!!
Love this song. The final battle theme (Based on Chopin's Revolution) is probably my favourite track in this game though.
