Idk why but this theme has always reminded me of the M.A.S.K. Tv show theme. Meh the 80's kid in me I suppose.

People say this game's difficulty was the main factor that affected its sales back then. I say it was this God forsaken box art. Seriously, WHO at Capcom USA's HQ looked at this and said "... Cool, release it to stores."

Pretty good pick having 1987 for a game that came out that year. MM1 isn't my favorite Mega Man soundtrack, but Elecman and Cutman stick out to me.
Abysmal box art but I remember it didn't somehow keep my friend and I from wanting it. We started from the very beginning with Mega Man 1 one Christmas.

As a kid, I always called him "Elect Man" and imagined that he banged a gavel and shot the word "ELECT" from it as his attack. Not surprisingly, the first Mega Man was the one I had the least exposure to as a kid.

And by R.E.M's 'All the Right Friends' (which more matches the tempo) from 1986, which was probably in turn taken from the Journey song.
Also Stan Bush's "Hold Your Head Up High" Makes me wonder how many other songs are out there like this
Elecman and "All the Right Friends" certainly seem to have the same melody as "Faithfully", but I definitely see a stronger similarity between the Robot Master's theme and the R.E.M. song. All good songs, either way.
The song at 1.25 isn't too bad.

If there's one thing to remember 1987 for in terms of video games, it's not the quality of any of the games that were released, but how Mega Man graced us with this box art. Nothing else matters in comparison. Seriously though, Inafune actually attributed this game's bad sales in North America to this box art, not only because the art is ugly, but because it absolutely doesn't represent what's in the game. Mega Man 2 really is what propulsed the series financially. Still, Mega Man was a quality game and Capcom's first real foray into the console market as all of their previous releases were Arcade ports. The game's cartoony graphics with its big sprites were super refreshing back then and the gameplay was top notch, so much so that Capcom stuck with it for all its 8-bit sequels (MM9 and 10 included). I believe this was also the first game to feature stages that you could select and play in any order you want. Hopefully this series is revived one day, it's too much of a shame.
1. Mega Man 11 is already out. 2. Who on earth hired that guy to design this cover art, not letting him know what the game looks like and not giving enough time?! Wasn't that way too risky if Capcom wanted their game outside of Japan? 3. Changing the name of Rockman to Mega Man was totally redundant. Rockman sounds even better and it's so good that there was no need to westernize the name of the protagonist.
