i played this as a Child and my most memorable thing about it was that they took away my lightsaber :( I should start this game again and play it through
I loved how I could recognize this theme after not playing this game for over a Decade... The Power of Music!
This is hands down one of the best games of all time. One of my most cherished memories were made on this game.

Didn't like the battle system, so i gave up on it before even finishing disc 1. Graphics and sound were very good though.

Listening to this while watching the 24/7 Earth from Space live stream was the best idea I ever had.
This game definitely had some of the most memorable and enjoyable game music I had heard up to that point in my life. This would be a game I'd love to experience for the first time again.
Back when Sakuraba's sound was so fresh. I still think this soundtrack holds up incredibly well. Shame nothing else he has written lately does.
While I do think this and his earlier works are his best I wouldn't sell ALL of his recent stuff short. I guess Dark Souls has been out for a good bit now (time flies) but I'd still consider it fairly recent. There isn't a whole lot of music in Dark Souls but what there is is pretty special. I think he's at his best when he composes dreamlike and melancholic music which SO2 and Dark Souls have in spades
My hard drive recently died, taking with it a list of games I wanted to try after hearing examples of their music in your list. It sucks, but it could be a good excuse to start listening again from the beginning.
So good, gives me chills. Wish Sakuraba could still make music this amazing. Been having a urge to replay this, for probably the 5th time, luckily I still own my original copy and saves, with like 80% of the voice clips.
Sakuraba's music in this game had such a great identity, giving the game a magical, dream-like atmosphere. It's not just the great melodies, but the instrumentation. I've only played this game once when it released, yet I remember the music and the locales almost perfectly. That's always a good sign. This simple yet memorable theme is a good example.
SupraDarky I wish I found it as memorable as you did, I recall nothing about locations or even music even though I'm a Sakuraba fan. But this theme does sound great!
I'd say Sakuraba was on his prime during the PS1 era when it comes to soundtracks, he kinda lost identiy with his recent works but they still sound good, just not as identifiable as he was back then
Very good story, great world design, Good Character design. Great challenges. Good Combat(Although slightly wonky), great soundtrack. Now I hope Star Ocean 5 gets a good lookback to the first and second Star Ocean(Third was okay too! Just very padded out)
when people let sakuraba do his thing he can still put out some nice sounding stuff, i quite liked his stuff from the zestiria soundtrack though it was super wasted on that game.
