I don't think I ever played a version of this game with music. This was before soundcards even existed.
This is the 1992 Deluxe version for MSDOS. Soundblaster, Adlib and General MIDI compatible.

Are you going to do VGM for year released for a while now? Like the best VGM 1972 being from a game that was released in 72 and so on. Doing it until the current year? Aside from 2000 obviously, which should be something special.
I will be doing it at some point, but probably when the 80s hit.

Holy crap! I played this game a lot as a kid.
So many kids in elementary school played this game at some point since the 80s, me included, as it would often come bundled with school computers. 65+ million copies sold attests to that. The original game came out in 1971 (crazy!) and this theme here is the 1.2 version released in 1993. Going through the Oregon Trail was definitely a challenge!
