Confession: FTL really means FUCK THIS LOSS. I've lost more times than I care to remember. One thing that keeps me coming back is the amazing music. Watching your crew simultaneously suffocate and burn to death isn't so bad with a throbbing sick soundtrack to jam to.
the bassline is the sound of the players all simultaneously smashing their heads against a wall in frustration
Man... Finishing the final battle was sooo satisfying.
Kinda reminds me of the main menu theme of NFS II: SE

fun game. my only complaint is that the Bad Guys are the Rebels, opposite of Star Wars. when usually you want to root for the Rebels because they are the underdogs, but here they are unstoppable
That's the reality of thing. Depend on the case, a rebel isn't always the one that fight for the good of everyone.
That's actually a point in it's favor, it's become so rare that the Enforcers of Law are the Underdogs, but that's what's going on in this game, and if you look into the Red Army (which was an uprising by the Bolsheviks that became a feared ruling power in Russia from 1917 until 1991, later adapting the Soviet Army name) it shows just how Dangerous that sort of thing can be. I highly recommend watching Dr Chivago (it's an older but incredibly well-aged film) as it delves with the whole, rebels can be just as dangerous as ruling authorities or royalties.

FTL is a really fun game with an excellent soundtrack. I just wish I could play a rouge-like game for more than 30 minutes without pulling my hair out from stress (I can hardly even play a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game)

I played this game for over 100 hours, got really tired of the music after like 40 hours but then I just muted the music and started listening to other music while i played instead. This track is awesome though, but you only hear it like 5% of the time you're playing.

Confession: I never could beat this final battle. Everytime, I found it way too overwhelming. I'm far from the best at playing roguelikes so I attribute it to my lack of skill and patience at developing it. One thing's for sure, FTL has awesome music and this theme is no exception.
Are you going to be giving your thoughts on Ori and the Blind Forest soon? I have only bought 2 games from the Steam Summer so far (Rocket League and OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood). I am thinking about getting Ori, but I am not entirely sure about whether to get it or not.

Your best strategy is to take out missiles and shields. Then focus on other weapons and getting the engine and piloting systems down. It's not an easy game to beat by any means, but the reward for beating the game, the exhilaration you'll get, it's unmatched. If you ever want tips or anything, check out other people playing the game on youtube, it's definitely a challenge, but well worth it.
Yeah this battle takes some patience and good RNG. I've always found that investing in a cloaking device really pays off in this fight.
My best bet was to aim for a good boarding party. The three gunning rooms on the final boss are not connected to the rest of the ship and so once your boarding party takes out one, they can't repair those systems until the 2nd and 3rd phase of the battle. Then it's just rinse and repeat. It was how I got my only win in the game.

It's also possible to just brute force the thing, you'll need 4 burst lasers or equivalent on standard and adv. there are even more good options that work great with hacking but the strat of killing 3/4 gunners in phase one and leaving just that last gunner alive in phase two is the easiest one and most reliable because hacking and teleport are easy to get.
