I got to hating this song on my first play through... I didn't know where to go or what to do... Repeated for hours... I have since beat the game, and have a new found respect for it. <3
Traverse Town: Home Sweet Home! Twilight Town: Summer Vacation Time!

My roommate and I were doing a playthrough of this game during finals week, and when we got to Traverse Town we just decided to let it play through the music for a couple of hours to study. This happened every time we came back to Traverse Town. Every. Time.
The thing about KH1 is it had a better beginning in my opinion. The island and its battles were better than the whole making money and the wonders of Twilight town. But thats only just my opinion.

@crashpal I dunno. KH3 throws you straight into Olympus, which (conveniently) doubles as the game's tutorial, since Dive to the Heart is nonexistant in that game. But Olympus was a pretty strong opening to a game. But Destiny Islands was infinitely better.

This game is branded into my brain, and this song is there too, just running around buying a bunch of potions to prepare for a boss battle, or just jump around and spin in circles to the music.

This game is great and all the tracks from the ost .. but i dont know why i hated so much this track ..
It's so nostalgic to listen to this song it's kind of depressing and painful. I wish life could always be as simple as it was when I was a little kid playing KH 1 for the first time :). Ill never forget this game and i'll probably replay it when I am 50 or something and just cry my eyes out.

had a sleepover once when this came out. We fell asleep with this music playing so when we awoke, it was still on. god that was annoying.
I never played this game, but the music and graphical style really remind me of proffesor Layton and the diabolical box.

@sallyed66 Oh, well I guess the way I read your wording, it sounded like you meant video games have come a long way, in terms of video game music and capturing mood, which is what I disagreed with. But that's not what you meant, so my bad. I can see what you mean by that interpretation, but I don't know if bias comes into play with thinking it captures that theme of an unknown adventure. I think it definitely is a good piece that captures that feel of "beginning/hub town" though

ya know I dont know why but for some reason after I saw the commercial of this game it felt connecting to me in some way so I rented it played it(got scared of the dark because of heartless for a while) but I enjoyed it the whole game felt like a dream though.

Despite my somewhat-of-hatred towards Kingdom Hearts series I think this theme is one of the best town themes I've ever heard. And no, I just can't leave KH alone. I have to play them for my little sister who's still too lazy to play them herself. She wants me to buy Birth By Sleep next. -_-'
This song is amazing. Very unique sounding song. It's happy, warm, and welcoming, but also with a tinge of sadness and nostalgia when the "bridge" of the song comes in. Perfectly balanced. I always feel welcome in traverse town when I hear this :).

I wonder will they think of a KH3....maybe but you never know they already got BBS and 354/2 days (is that right?) if not its a mega killer to the KH fans.

I'm not challenging your belief because I agree with you but the sound does almost resemble a soprano saxophone. It's just my theory, tone qualities can change with the type of manufacture, reed and mouthpiece set-up, and the player, but I'm convinced it's a clarinet.....that sounds perfect.
No, Saxophones have more of a "raspiness" to it, which this song lacks. It's definitely a type of clarinet.
Hmm, sounds like a very good smooth player on a regular clarinet, but it doesn't sound like one? There are different types of clarinets out there unless I've never heard a very soft, smooth, and heh, lovely sounding clarinet before. Any musician's out there know if it's *just* a clarinet or another type of it?
