I played Celceta on pc and it worked just fine, controls were good. But there was absolutely no gameplay for the first 90 minutes and I uninstalled the game and gave up. I haven't tried Napishtim yet but I hope it's got good combat like Origins.
game is amazing.....so glad i have both psp and ps2 copies

I've actually never played any of these games. The only reason I even know Ys exists is because XPlay reviewed the Ark of Napishtim back in the G4 days. Got curious when I saw this in my sidebar so I gave it a listen and it's fuckin awesome. Kinda wanna try this series. Any entry in particular I should start with?
+RedPhantom414 Memories of Celceta is the best one IMO to start as it's the most modernized in terms of mechanics. I did them in chronological order but the story doesn't really force you to.

Just picked this up on Steam not too long ago. Gotta actually play it still but at least I know I have awesome tunes in store!
I just finished this game. As always with this series, the game's strength lies in its pure, simple and fast battle system and the rocking soundtrack. It definitely had more frustrating platforming elements than usual because of some hard jumps to pull off. The bosses are also far from the series' best, with the final boss being especially disappointing (at least it had this awesome theme). Still, I very much enjoyed my time with Napishtim. Felghana remains my favorite.
+SupraDarky yeah, that one side boss was more freaking hard than the final boss of the story. more of a grindy game but still one of my most favorites of the Ys Series. and even though the final boss was lacking, the ending was still better than Ys Seven, at the very least. Soundtrack Wise, the Games are featuring quite a great palette i don't get really tired of listening.
+SupraDarky I like to think of the boss before as the final boss. His battle theme is also probably the best in the game.
+SupraDarky Honestly, Ernst (the boss just before the final boss) is a track far better than this one. That's a curious choice.
+SupraDarky Have you tried Rabi-Ribi? It's a "somewhat" similar experience (very liberally) with a varied soundtrack, worth a shot.
