This was the Mario game that would change the course of Mario games forever. The leap from Mario bros 1 and 2 to the third was just mind blowing on so many levels. As much as i love 3d mario games, 2d mario games will always hold a special place in my heart.
I always figured this would be the ending song at VGM10000 when SupraDarky finally decides to retire at 80 y.o. and stop posting on this channel. But SD knows he's eternal and will never stop posting, so might as well post it now. :-p

"One of those raregames that are just as fun as when they released, timeless." So true. SMB3 could be released in 2015 and I'm positive people would still love it. Great design is timeless.

I never really noticed before, but a lot of SMB3s music has kinda of a carribean beat to it. Am I wrong?
This has always been one of my favorite ending themes, and one of my favorite songs in general. I always make it a point to play this masterpiece at least once a year.
Best game I've ever played in my life. Every year, I turn on my NES at least 5 times per year to finish this game.
Not positive but I think this might be the first time I've heard the NES version of this theme; I've (almost?) always heard the SNES version via the Mario All-Stars compilation.
I remember hearing this song a lot in the Mario 3 cartoon long before I beat the game and discovered what it really was.
This was the first piece of video game music to make me cry, and from then on has always been one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite from the Mario series. This song is so happy, yet so sad, as if the careless years of playing video games are behind you. Long story short I would want this played at my funeral.
I absolutely love this ending theme. It's a fitting ending for such a classic game. I also think this is Kondo's best soundtrack for any of the NES Mario games. I also think that this game was revolutionary for it's time and set up the release for Super Mario World, the greatest 2D Mario game, perfectly.

For some reason, most of the song reminds of the song that plays inside of the shops in Legend of Zelda Ocarina of time and Majoras Mask,

Like a lullaby, then, boom, to a tropical-beach like theme.
Always bittersweet to reach the ending of game you had so much fun with, especially when it's a 2D platformer masterpiece like SMB3. One of those raregames that are just as fun as when they released, timeless.
