Just played this game for the first time a few months ago. The story wasn't really done justice by the poor translation: it wasn't always clear what the plot points were as a result. Same was true of Illusion of Gaia as well: horrible translation really hurt what would've been a good story. I preferred Illusion of Gaia overall though. Terranigma was technically superior, with better graphics, sound quality, soundtrack, and (IMO) better gameplay mechanics, but Illusion of Gaia had one of the biggest emotional impacts on me of any game ever. Right up there with FF7 and FF4 for me.

Actually my favorite soundtrack ever. There are so many amazing theme in this game. This is also one of my favorite game ever, too bad the level up system isn't balanced correctly.
This game is so underrated wish more people know about this gem. Man, the ending still fresh in my mind after finishing it 5 years ago, bittersweet at it's finest.
Still probably the first game I'll try when I get into emulation. It has 5-6 songs that rival stuff like Chrono Trigger, but the rest are kinda mediocre.
Yeah, I'm with you there. I feel like this is one of those games that literally should NOT have anyone complaining about pirating for. It's very difficult to get a hold of in the States.
I heard this theme about 2 years ago looking up soundtracks. As soon as I heard this, I knew that Terranigma had to be on my list of games to eventually play. Still haven't gotten to do so yet

haven't heard the soundtrack almost at all since i beat it in 1998 but it is one of the hidden gems of the system.
Maybe it's just my nostalgia talking, but I have to say I prefer Illusion of Gaia over this game. Terranigma definitely had the better music and story, but action RPGs' most important element is the gameplay, and I preferred Illusion of Gaia's combat over Terranigma's, which I felt was too grindy and repetitive.

I agree but the vibe I'm getting from this game is that it is superior in every way to Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia... I'm afraid that it will disappoint me...

@Fullmetal Hunter Well, there is an english rom readily available, the version sold in the UK. As for emulators, any SNES emulator should do the trick, I personally tend to use ZSNES. (For ZSNES, just do a quick google search, for the rom go to either emuparadise or coolrom - those are 2 of the more reputable rom sites.)

Great theme for an equally great game. I remember seeing this game for sale when I went to Spain back in 1997, knowing that I couldn't buy it in NA. As a fan of Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia, I was super disappointed. Thankfully I got to play it years later and it was even better than I thought it'd be. Awesome soundtrack to boot!
