This was such an addictive game! I tried to achieve a 500k Mega Metropolis but I could'nt.. Only, thanks to youtube, I heard the theme for the first time. Shockingly, this game is very primitive comparing today's simulations.

@Xenolink Also, thank this game for introducing some features that are in SimCity 2000 and beyond. SimCity Classic was the groundwork, while the SNES port brought somethings that the Original game needed.

Best I ever got when I was younger was a stable Metropolis. Cousin had a Megalopolis or whatever on his save file. ...lucky fucker.
I never even heard the Megalopolis theme until just now when I looked it up.
One of the first SNES games I played when the SNES had just been released, and this game just absorbed me. Although the gameplay looks kinda crappy now, for its time it was awesome! And the music man, so good. It just has that characteristic oldschool SNES sound which captivated me as with so much other SNES games back then. Classic game, great composition!

I love this soundtrack, incredibly clever how the Village theme goes through all of the major city songs.
Thank you for this upload! This song brings back so many great memories of just experimenting for hours and hours on end. Factories in the corner of the map, then the inevitable Bowser attack :)
Until they make expansions like Streets of SimCity and SimCopter for a modern Sim City game, SimCity 2000 will remain the greatest game of the series. Nothing beats making a city, and then racing through it from the perspective of your rocket-launcher-equipped car, or flying around it in a helicopter doing missions.

After about a week, i got bored of waiting for the end of the in-game year, and just used the money code... annnnd then i got bored of the game itself :(
I was never very good at SimCity, so I'm not sure that I ever heard this track as a kid, but I still have some good memories with this game and its music.
I love the SNES version of Sim City. It's extremely relaxing to me, and that's due to the music a lot of the time. It's all really catchy and soothing.

I'm a fan of this series but never really gave it a serious try. The SNES game is the one I played most by far, it was extremely addicting. I was probably too young to fully understand what I was doing, but I remember still doing a good enough job. The soundtrack is very nice, composed by Soyo Oka and her usual jazzy style (also Super Mario Kart's composer).
If you're looking to get back into the series, I recommend SimCity 3000 or SimCity 4. The newest one (2013) does some things well, but overall is disappointing (and this is coming from someone who is more forgiving than most about the game.) 3000 is the more approachable but still fully featured of the previous pair, and probably the best starting point if you're just itching to build some cities. 4 has a lot more depth, especially with mods, but it's way less forgiving of new players. The SNES game is also fun, especially for how charming it can be, but the fewer features makes it a lot more repetitive after a while. Anyway, cheers if you give the series a shot again!

I remember playing SimCity2000. I love the games and I had a lot of fun, but ultimately I suck lol I bought SimCity4 a while back and I simply cannot get anywhere without cheating. I really need a lot of guidance on how not to go bankrupt. I'm probably just impatient.
@SupraDarky Wow. Didn't know about this being from the same composer as Super Mario Kart. That makes me a huge fan of Soyo Oka without even knowing her name two minutes ago. ... And I see that she handled the arrangements for Mario All Stars, too. It means that during the first year I owned a Super Nintendo, I mainly listened to her tunes.
