The Megadrive sound hardware could do absolutely amazing things when programmed properly, and this game is a sterling example. When done right, it just sounds so clean compared with the sampled music you'd get in the SNES.

I'm going to be "that guy" and say the C64 version was better. It wasn't, but yeah, nostalgia.
I usually don't like comments like the one I'm going to post, but in this case it needs to be said: Who downvoted this track?! It's incredibly awesome and among the best I have heard for the Mega Drive.
This was one of my favourite games on the Commodore 64 back in the day. Worth the wait when loading it from tape...
The tune reminds me a little of the old Metal Gear games on the MSX.

This completely overlooked/forgotten game was/is actually quite a lot of fun. I have the Gen cartridge and I also had this for a old Amiga computer back then as well.
Is there anything better than a friday night with a nice weekend ahead? I haven't played this Contra clone, but this is the kind of theme that does the Genesis audio chip great justice. It reminds me of something you'd hear in the Turrican series. Awesomely rockin' music.

I thought, Hitoshi Sakimoto composed this. Check out his work on the Mega Drive - great stuff.
@Radoslav Mitrov Technically, Sakimoto didn't compose it, but rather he arranged the Genesis/Megadrive version. And to be honest, this is even better than the original arcade version.
This soundtrack reminds me of Tyrian, probably the best PC spaceshooter out there, from the mythic year of 1996. The extra episodes released after arc 3 suck, but hunt down Tyrian 2000 and give it a try if you like spaceships and modular upgrades.
