This version has a tiny pause into the infamous 0:09 shift. If that means that on real NES consoles, it does indeed take a moment to think about what is to come, that'd be pretty great.

I find it pretty cool how Tim made a 3 min theme that most players would probably only hear for around 3 sec.

Did Tim Follin do music for the Game Boy version of the Crash Dummies video game? Parts of this track sound similar to some tracks in that game.

OMG!! This game. I got lost so much in this game, that I drew a map on papper for it! I knew there was an in game map, but you saw to little of the whole map on it..

It's all planned. When I uploaded Best VGM 01, I already knew this would be #1630. Spacing out classics is always a good thing and makes it all more interesting. Wait until you see what Best VGM 2738 will be.

@SupraDarky Best VGM 01 was posted 2 september 2007, which makes that about 2550 days ago. 2550 divided with 1630 (videos so far) gives us and average of 1,56 days pass before we get a new video. 2738 - 1630 gives us 1108 more videos until we reach the video in question. Taking the earlier number of days passed before a new vid, we would hear/see number 2738 in about 1728 days, or at may of 2019. Very rough math though!
@Psydrre Roughly around May 25th 2019 if I continue the logic. Putting this in my Outlook calendar. If I ever stay at the same workplace that long, I'll remember. Anticipated track: The title theme from the new Super Mario Universe on the Wii Unity. :-D

i have such a nostalgia boner for this game, i never finished it but back in the day when i was a little kid i would always play this game, have no idea what i was doing but i was still having the time of my life. The Title theme is just great love it!
I posted 2 tracks from Equinox, but now it's time for its prequel to shine thanks to another awesome track by Tim Follin. The short peaceful intro making way for sudden crazy arpeggios and percussions is always a nice surprise. The game itself was alright, but it's far from a favorite of mine (the same goes with Equinox). I haven't finished it.
Tim Follin is an absolute god among composers who worked with limited hardware. He is easily in my top 5 composer who worked with limited hardware. This title theme is pretty good. I really like it a lot.
I don't think it counts as a "prequel" when it came out first, it's just the first one. Incidentally, do the games actually share a story, or was Equinox more of a "spiritual" sequel (as the phrase seems to go)? I've never been clear on that one.

My parents bought me Solstice when I was a kid and I remember being blown away by this tune, vastly superior to anything I had heard until then (which admittedly was not that much). I remember playing it for a long time and eventually clearing it and feeling satisfied about it. Then again, it's not the eighties any more. I don't think that a game whose main challenge is trying to figure out the perspective would draw much attention.

@SupraDarky Actually surprised you hadnt posted this one before. I never played the game but Tim Follin is one of my favourite console composers. Weird fact, he actully hates console music. BTW, do you have the Turok 2 (GBC) Cemetery Stage song in your list? Its one of my favourites.
