Why do people hate the voice acting. Personally, It just adds more depth to the game because every character including side characters that you'll probably not see again are voiced.
It's... strange. It hasn't been that long since I beat this game but I'm just hit by a sudden feeling nostalgia. Great soundtrack.
At some points it sounds like it borrows some elements from Secret of Mana's soundtrack. Love it! :)
Dust was a great game, no doubt. It wasn't as much of a metroidvania as it was a hack and slash, and I think that works just fine. The story wrapped up quite nicely too. Definitely among my top ten favourite indie games.

Dust: An Elysian Tail was a bit too easy, but the artwork is beautiful and the soundtrack is pleasant to listen to. -Nice to hear some Alexander Brandon music on this channel. I really like his work, and I'm stoked to hear that he's going to compose music for the new Unreal Tournament game.- I stand corrected. I also hope you get around to uploading some music from Unreal 1, SupraDarky.
Alexander Brandon worked on a couple of tracks for this game, but this isn't one of them. This was created by HyperDuck SoundWorks, the two-man team of Chris Geehan and Dan Byrne-Mccullough.

Happy to see Dust make an appearance on this list. I played this game about a year ago on Xbox and really enjoyed it. The story was touching and the whole game made me feel like a kid watching a good Disney movie for the first time. I know some people had trouble with the voice acting, but I felt that the performances were all perfect for the cartoon characters being portrayed on screen.
I really don't understand the praise for this game. No story, voice acting's cringily generic with an obnoxious sidekick trying too hard to be kawaii, combat is numb button mashing and never challenging. It looks pretty, I guess, but that doesn't make a game. I expected the Bastion of the 2D side scroller, instead It felt like a browser game from Newgrounds but with more production value.

This is the first time I've heard about the game, so I hope I don't imply I agree with you with this as I haven't looked it up yet: Maybe the reason why the game has so much praise was, from what I've read in another comment, the game (minus the soundtrack) was made entirely by one person.
I'd go farther and say the game looks like ass as well.

I finished this game not too long ago and had a good time with it. The presentation (graphics, animation, music) is top notch and the story is surprisingly good. However, after having played the amazing Guacamelee and Valdis Story a couple months before, I couldn't help but find the whole package slightly underwhelming as a Metroidvania. The battle system feels like it never truly evolves and stays very basic, with your companion Fidget's magic being overpowered. I button mashed my way through the whole game. I also found most of the disconnected level design too linear and simple, making my trek through the game not very memorable. Still, as a whole I quite enjoyed the game and I'd gladly play a sequel.
For a game that was created entirely by one man (minus the music) this game was amazing. I hope that there will be a sequel to it.

I like this game when i got it as part of a Humble Indie Bundle back in March. Guacamelee was also part of the bundle too. I am still playing through Guacamelee and i am really liking it more over Dust. I still think that this game is very impressive since it was done by one person. Guacamelee is really one of the more impressive games i have ever played. I need to get back to playing Dust as i was enjoying it. It also helps that Alexander Brandon helped compose the music for this game.
@TheSeer99 Didn't do Music Didn't do Voices Didn't do the marketing The code and the graphics are all made by him, not an easy feat and deserves praise. But as for the game... It's...okay?
@TheSeer99 This, I forgave some of its flaws because I knew it was a one man effort, if there's a sequel I hope there is an update in the combat system, I felt it was very simple too

@TyrannoBotti I read somewhere a year or so ago that he did have ideas for a sequel, but he wanted to first follow it up with a feature-length animated movie. Haven't heard anything about it, though.
