This game is very good and is a very fresh game as well. It's very underrated and i wouldn't mind the next paper mario being like this for wii u. It has to be in the top 10 underrated games of last gen. i think in the future this will be popular like luigis mansion, mario sunshine and zelda MM. People seem to hate things for being to different sometimes and then they become to appreciate it a lot years later. This will probably be one of those games.
I don't think people dislike this game because it's different. They just dislike it because it's boring and unmemorable.

@TheUnBeheadedSlayer Eh it became boring around the space part...the most favorite part of the game was the end...and thats character developement for ya...besides that...the mechanics were good and all but its just plain out boring after about an hour in.
@TheUnBeheadedSlayer They took a whole different approach with this game form making it a RPG with platformer ellements into making it a platformer with RPG ellements. Also the visuals are way different and the storyline was alot more melodramatic than the other pm games. They should have made this game a whole different concept than paper mario because people just compare it with the 1st 2 pm games, but i agree with u it was a fun game and perhaps people will stop comparing it and like it for what is and not what isn't.
Good job on getting both themes up. I always liked trying to time Mario's steps so that it matched the song's beat. Don't know if it worked with the other characters.

What is this, 2 uploads on the same day and both from the same game? Madness! I like Flopside's calmer rendition just as much, so I do what I'm best at when it comes to choosing between 2 things I like: I choose both.

@skirsk It's an ok game, but crap as a paper mario game. It's hardly an rpg. I would only recommend it if you are ok with it being nothing like other paper mario games and not an rpg. It plays more like a top down zelda game crossed with a mario game.
@Brucie Kibbutz I guess you've never played a top down Zelda. Anyway, about Sticker Star... it's certainly more RPGish than Super Paper Mario, it just has some... weird mechanics (and no partners, which is a shame). And I didn't find the story as memorable as in previous games in the series.. The music is great IMO, it's really jazzy though which you could love or hate. It's not a bad game in any way, but it's widely considered the weakest in the series.
@Light Wolf No need to be condescending. That's how it felt to me. There is a big overworld map, you travel throughout different areas, you solve puzzles, you find items which unlock different paths, you have one character who has no dialogue and doesn't level, there isn't much storyline and dialogue and it's mostly inconsequential, there are themed dungeons with a boss at the end of each. It felt very similar to me to playing a link to the past. Listen to the sound effect when you find a new sticker, to me it sounds derivative of the sound that plays when you find an item in a chest in zelda. The only thing that makes this game significantly different in gameplay to a top down zelda is the battle system. Put a crappy turn based battle system in and they would play almost identically. I'm not the only one who feels this way, not that that makes me right or anything: "Sticker Star has just as much in common with Super Mario World and the original Legend of Zelda as it does the other Paper Mario titles...While the trappings here are definitely Mario, the feel is just as much classic Zelda as anything else." -Destructoid
@Brucie Kibbutz I see your point, but I don't agree. Yes, there are many similarities, but to me those are all superficial elements. It didn't "feel" like a Zelda game to me, but of course that's very subjective. Sorry if my comment sounded condescending, it wasn't my intention (English isn't my main language).
@Light Wolf When you dismiss someone and suppose they are ignorant on a subject because they hold a view that differs from yours, that can be seen as condescending. Your English is better than the average youtube commenter. I don't think this is a language thing, I think you understand your comment was just a little bit dickish. It's ok though I accept your apology. I'm not saying they necessarily feel the same, just that they follow many similar design principles and it seems the team had zelda in mind when designing it. Subjective feelings aside, it does have many objective mechanical similarities in game design. Adventure exploration, strength progression through upgrades instead of xp, heart collecting to raise your HP, combat uses mostly consumable items, and a faerie that follows you around to help you. You don't remember the story as much because it didn't have one! My 2 biggest complaints in that game were lack of story and a non open world like in all previous PMs
