I need to go back and play both Mario Galaxy games again. I loved them so much but always move onto new games too much, instead of replaying games I really love.
IMO Galaxy 2 is the best Mario game.

When ever someone bleats on about how every single Mario game in existence is exactly the same as the last one, I point them to this game then tell them to kindly go kill themselves.

New 3D Mario game out next year! Gonna be awesome! EAD Tokyo have been working on it since September 2013.
Then we're hopefully looking at a 2015 release, way to little time to make a great HD mario!

Nintendo are pussy-footing around lately. Where the hell are the games people are actually craving to play? (P.S. SMG2 is the greatest 3D platformer of all time).

I really would like to see Nintendo make a whole new 3D Mario subseries, but I also can't deny that the thought of Super Mario Galaxy 3 on the Wii U, with more incredible music and more of those fantastic, stunning, imaginative galaxies (in HD, mind you) makes me feel all funny inside.
The game looked amazing... On the wii... Imagine the possibilities on the Wii U

Glad to see this theme make it too the list. And I do agree with the refreshing feel of Galaxy for its time. It was just so nice to see.
As much as I loved Super Mario 3D World, it couldn't reach the Galaxy series' greatness. There was an awesome feeling of epicness travelling through space with orchestrated music. Being able to play with gravity gave Nintendo a chance to add unique gameplay elements and challenge that were very refreshing. I've said this already, but the Galaxy games really feel like the most entertaining roller coaster rides.
I have to agree. Even though I think that SMG 1 is the better of the two in terms of gameplay and music, this game still has some strong gameplay and songs. I really liked this song for a hub world. It has a nice refreshing feel to it.
I also loved Super Mario 3D World to death, but I really feel that both Galaxy games have the best Mario soundtrack to date. Plus, 3D World's endless variations on the same overall musical theme got a little grating after a while.
Looks like 3D World couldn't meet the FACE with this game.
@Sharpie473 I think that rather than compare the two games, it's better to look at them on a face-by-face basis welcome back to Super Mario Galaxy 2.
3D World doesn't come even remotely close to how great the Galaxy games were. They really need to bring out the next single player 3D Mario already.
i have never played the Galaxy series...sigh, i feel so bad for missing these nintendo titles. If they release Nintendo Fusion i will buy it from their digital store
@***** There are a few differences, actually! Even if it's minor, but the new powerups are a strong factor. I'm pretty sure the camera controls are also very slightly changed. And the spinning move worked differently in SMG2. Swimming was significanly slowed down by that, and slope mobility pretty much nullified. This isn't supposed to be ill-willed towards you, just pointing it out. :3
Honestly, I disagree. The Galaxy games were both AMAZING, however SM3DW gave me the same "oh my god, this game is something special" feeling I had when first playing it. I don't know if they really ARE that comparable but I've had a lot more fun with SM3DW than I did with either Galaxy game.

@***** Well yeah when you look at it as a 3D Mario Game.... which when it comes down to it in the grand scheme of things, it's NOT. When you look at it like your classic side-scroller game, it's a FANTASTIC game
I don't think anyone really considers it to be the "next 3D Mario" though. It's 3D, but it plays more like the traditional Mario.
@***** Supposedly, Miyamoto has been working on a new IP and will reveal it this E3.
