It's funny I always saw this game in stores growing up and never really thought much of it until tonight. Glad I took the time to listen to the full ost though it has some great songs.

I can't help but be reminded of 'My Neighbor Totoro' a little bit when I hear this song. It's got the same sort of relaxed, supernatural feeling to it.

9 mins of the same tune, started off great until you realize this
this was one of the first games i got for my ds. the old, fat one, when they first came out. I'd never played anything outside of pokemon on my gameboy so I had no idea what was going on in the game.. and whatever was going on it freaked me out. especially the music, so atmospheric and somber in comparison to the kiddy stuff I usually played. I could probably go back and beat it now... this game got me into rpgs lol without me knowing it. thanks for the upload. i need to go look up gameplay of this :o
A shame this game got massively overshadowed by Mother 3 (in Japan).

I had this game and was starting to enjoy it. Then it disappeared from my collection and could never find it again. Always wondered what happened.

Whenever I fished here it froze the game... still, the music and scenery were something special for a DS game.
About six years too late but yeah, I hated how the game ost was always drowned out by the battle theme. The songs were long and nice to listen to. But getting into a fight interrupts that and restarts the song

I love this game because the theme is so weird. And this music just goes with the entire awesome soundtrack.
I would love to listen to this as I relax on a remote tropical island and stare at the waves of the ocean for hours. I'm really grateful that you posted this.

9 minutes of relaxing goodness. I love the choice of instruments. What's sad about it though, is how it plays in a tiny area full of monsters. Not only do you spend a small amount of time there, but each battle interrupts the theme and then it starts all over again. That's always been a major pet peeve of mine in RPGs: field themes should continue playing from the moment they were at before a battle interrupted them. It's pretty much impossible to listen to this whole theme other than outside the game or if you stand and do nothing.

Same experience as with Diablo III during its first days so far, which is that I'm having great fun and I'm very addicted to it. Will it last though? That's the question. I can't help but question its long term replay value.
i don't remember this well but don't field themes resume after battles in final fantasy? at least in 7 i think they did.

It's a Grasshopper Manufacture game actually (y'know, the guys behind Killer7, No More Heroes, etc.). It's a pretty fun game but it has its share of oddities.
I feel your strife. It's always been one of mine too. Especially in FFXIII: Lightning Returns. I would actually love to have the option to have the theme still going while in battle.
Same pet peeve of mine... I actually didn't buy FFXIV: ARR because you can't toggle battle music off... silly reason not buy a great game I know.
This song got me from medschool to residency. Late nights, times of frustration, reflection... This song was key. Thank you for exposing me to a gem I would otherwise never know.
In Chrono Trigger, during the Ocean Palace area, they played the theme during fights.
Best theme in the game imo. Although it's exactly as you say. I really wish they would turn off the battle music in this area, and maybe make it bigger. :/
