Thank god I read your comment SD, I was playing your list and went for a coffee so I paused the stream. I wasn't paticularly like this tune but because I paused it I got the chance to read your description before I resume. And then I open steam and look this game up, bought it, played it. Why such an amazing game got no hype at all, it should be one of the best indies in 2013!

The music in this game is fantastic. I like the Eye themes and the climactic battle especially. Also the theme in the Engineer's Palace (!), the Skyways, and uhh... just all of them, really...
I get some Xenogears vibes from this somehow, still great game & I'm looking forward to fighting Reize from this in Shovel Knight! :D

I played this game very late in 2013 and wasn't ready for such a deep and fun metroidvania. The production values really surprised me, starting with the clean graphics and one of my favorite soundtracks of the year, if not my favorite. The soundtrack is massive with 36 tracks, so for 5 bucks I just had to buy it. I can hear some similarities to Yamane's music. I really like how this game has tons of gameplay variety and customization with its skill trees, magic spells, equipment and playable characters to choose from. The boss battles are especially fun. It has a couple unfortunate flaws though, the biggest one being some frustrating platforming sections mixing precise jumps with sensitive controls and hostile monsters. Another flaw is how terrible the map system is: you can't zoom out of your zone to see the whole map, making it very confusing and difficult to remember how to go back to a specific zone. I wasted a lot of time just running around because of that. Overall a very good surprise made possible through Kickstarter!
Gotta say Supra, I heard this and read your description and went out and bought the game. And I regret nothing. Loving the game, the skills/items/spells, the amazing boss battles (along with some hiccups due to the difficulty in learning each fight), and the music. I haven't found backtracking too bad and I've only got hit in the face with precision platforming once, but overall it's a fantastic game. Gonna look into purchasing the soundtrack after I finish it. =)
This platforming made me quit after 10ish hours. The controls were just not tight enough for my liking. Otherwise fantastic game, kinda wana go back ignore the extra platforming stuff and just enjoy the main game.
