Great track SupraDarky! Hydropolis was the track that stood out the most for me. The opening piano gave the town an epic feel to it.

I'm taking a shot in the dark here, but does anyone know the name of a song that sounds like this song's first two notes but then hits a higher 3rd note? It's stuck in my head but i can't remember the name
I'd recommend the best thing to do is listen to a Tales of Phantasia playlist one day while you're doing something. I think what you described rings a bell, but I'm not sure.

How is this your first song from Phantasia? I love Sakuraba's early style, however, I prefer the soundtrack from PS1 remake of Phantasia over the SNES version. Probably has something to do with not playing the SNES version, except a little bit of the DEJAP version a long time ago, and playing the PS1 remake early this year. Destiny is still my favorite, the soundtrack is so wicked, and his work on Destiny 2(Eternia) and Star Ocean the second story, are among my favorites as well.

Hooray for one of the most inaccurate fan translations. Only the joke about Arche dreaming about Cless and a few remarks about which girl Cless prefers were in the original Japanese.

Didn't sound nearly as good on GBA. Of course, the GBA version made a lot of the songs sound like shit. But even with the shitty GBA quality soundtrack, the music was still amazing.
Yeah all of the SNES to GBA ports butchered the audio hard. The SNES had a sound chip that was WAY the fuck ahead of its time - Sony's SPC700 chip - which supported all sorts of custom programming and custom samples uploaded directly from the cartridge. Unfortunately when Sony and Nintendo split over the PlayStation add-on which became... well.. the PlayStation, Nintendo lost any chance of using Sony tech in future systems, so the GBA and N64's sound chips are a MASSIVE downgrade from the SNES's.

I really like this song. It's relaxing yet energizing It also goes to show how far Sakuraba has come as a composer.

The first game in the Tales series is also the first I played and this track immediately stood out at the time. I remember liking it, but it's actually with Tales of Destiny that I really became a fan of this series. I want to play Xillia 1&2, having liked Symphonia and Vesperia, but I do feel some franchise fatigue so I want to space out my playthroughs.
Xillia is pretty good I'd recommend it. I didn't like graces very much though. The gameplay was good, but I couldn't stand the personality of every character except Pascal, Malik, and Sophie; they really killed it for me.
Abyss is my all-time favorite Tales game, so I highly recommend it!
Vesperia is my recent favorite. Abyss is a great one too. You really can't go wrong with a tales game, almost. Dawn of a New World was kinda bad.
If you've played Destiny on the PS1, I would recommend its PS2 remake. It's playable with little knowledge of Japanese if you know the story of the original. Even if you're a bit fuzzy on the details, it'll clearly highlight where to go next on the world map. Any minor confusion or need for menu/tech guides is worth it for the best battle system in the series imo.
I feel like I'm the only one who did not like Tales of Symphonia at all... I managed to beat the entire game, which felt like an eternity, but I realize that this is not my style of game (art-wise, story-wise, character-wise, voice-wise, item-wise), but the spells, fighting was not that bad.
i feel the same bro the first was phantasia and the one that got me hooked up was destiny but eternia and abyss my favorite ones waiting for xillia 2 for northamerica xD
+SupraDarky Here's all the Tales advice you need: Phantasia- Good; Recommended starting point Destiny- Good Eternia- Pretty Good Symphonia- Amazing Legendia- Terrible; met a guy who literally couldn't give this game away Abyss- Amazing Dawn of the New World- Decent game, sub-par sequel Vesperia- Best in the series by far. Worthy of buying an xbox for Graces- Garbage Xillia- Great; Everything Graces did wrong, but done right Xillia 2- AVOID AT ALL COSTS Zestiria- Ending is Mass Effect-level bad. Overall Meh...
@Roman Dass I skipped the ones that weren't translated (not including fan translations which are usually inaccurate) and Radiant Mythology, which is just a weird spinoff game...
@Roman Dass And that's for the SNES version only I believe. Absolute Zero's PS1 translation is pretty faithful.
