one of my favorite games ever. once you get past the boring part (chozo ruins) it starts getting REALLY good.

Loved the game as a whole. Chozo Ruins, not as much.
I remember I went 6 months without videogames, then caved one day when I woke up at 4am and decided to replay this game. Even replaying it was mindblowing, I spent like an hour outside the spaceship at the start just shooting asteroids. Then I went into the first corridor and shot asteroids from the windows. The detail and atmosphere is incredible.

Playing through Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii and having a blast. Just finished the first game and loved every second of it, excited to play the other two!

Just bought a "new" GC so I could replay games like this, but buying a Wii to play them in digital quality. The GC has its shares of hidden treasures.

Go for the Metroid Trilogy for Wii. You won't be disappointed: 16:9 screen ratio and, if you want, functional Wii Remote controls.
I actually have the same problem! I must have given them away in hopes of a friend learning the greatness of Metroid. I want to play 2 so bad though
ive been trying to find my MP copies, but all i foun was MP3 and not the other 2 and i want to do all 3 again in order
Replayed the game this year after 10 years...was a lot easier than I remember also thank god it was 60fps makes it really feel more modern than it should be.
I gotta stop procrastinating and play MP1 that's sitting on my shelf for 2 months now. I feel I HAVE to play this.

The MP trilogy is one of my favs, and what I consider to be one of the best conversions of 2-D platformer to 3-D adventure. It just bums me out that I haven't run into many people that played them. And I must say, some of the tracks from MP2 are downright awful. I literally have to mute the TV. I don't quite understand how they thought the soundtrack would be enjoyable, but oh well. MP1 has a pretty good, if not stellar, soundtrack tho

This game is so amazing. It plays better than most games today, and looks just about as good. Plus the entire ambiance and feeling behind each area has yet to be beat for me. Perfect music coupled with the sense of being alone... mm. I'm waiting for a game to blow me away as much as this one did... it's been several years since one has.
Not only that, also the way the developers arranged the lore of each species and locations, the logbook as a whole was such a great addition :)
There's a sense of tension and exploration I haven't ever felt before. The scanning mechanic worked wonderfull and made you explore everything while trying to puzzle ogether all the factors of what happened. I have great memories of exploring a giant base, with actual stealth :D
To this day, I wonder if the Chozo knew that Samus would lose her powers everytime - so they planted 52 morph ball upgrades everywhere. In all honesty - I was skeptical when they announced that Metroid would be in first person. ...Was I ever wrong. This series will live on for a long time to come.
Chozo Artifact Temple was a great track as well.

I simply love the music in Metroid Prime. Chozo Ruins is no exception. But! The Phendrana Drifts music is one step better imo.
Easily of of my favorite tracks in the Prime Trilogy. Pretty unique and it stands out almost immediately.
One of my favourite games of all time. Easily in the Top 5. Excellent gameplay, atmosphere and music with graphics that are good even this day.
I remember being impressed with the graphics for Mario 64. A good example of graphics that really blew me away was the Atlantis like water town in Wet Dry World. It looks so good for its time. I have not played this game, but the graphics for this game are so good. Would it be a stretch to say that the graphics for this game would look good on the 360 and PS3?
I am currently playing Metroid Prime Hunters for the first time, and even that is a surprisingly good game despite the obvious technical limitations. It's difficult to grasp that it was running on a DS. I really hope they make a 3DS sequel
Man, this game was the best. Nintendo had a good pace for technological improvement, but it seems the industry had different plans. I really don't think they'd know what to do with all the power, though. The Wii U feels like the right step to allow them to prove that they know better than anyone how to take full advantage of hardware.
I'm the first to say graphics aren't everything, but I got used to seeing the big Nintendo franchises blow me away graphically (not just on an artistic level, but on a technical level as well) and I'll miss that. Mario 64 and this game especially come to mind.
This completes a trifecta of GC games at #18-17-16 from Nintendo's biggest franchises. Metroid Prime blew me away when I first played it in 2002, it honestly felt like I was playing a game from 5-10 years in the future. The Prime trilogy left a hole that simply hasn't been filled again. I remember when I first reached the Chozo Ruins near the start and heard the percussions come in over the ambient track, I couldn't help but bob my head with a smile, knowing I was in for something special.
