Currently playing this game for the first time (again, thank you Supradarky for introducing me to these gems). Yesterday I managed to rescue the 6th princess in the Dark World. I'm afraid I'm approaching the end of the game...
This game was a beast/masterpiece and when this beat came on going to the Dark world..i was at a lost of words..and i looked at my snes in amazement!...
I don't know if that's my favorite game of all time, but I know that it's one of the very, very few games I can play through a thousand times without getting bored.

So you're assuming that every six year old gamer is a moron who would miss an optional tutorial or not read a manual? Nice hyperbole there, slick. I'm pretty positive that younger gamers growing up in the SNES/PS1 eras had an okay time with optional tutorials in video games. Consider having a small fraction of a clue when you type.

Best Zelda game ever!
I highly doubt a 6 year old child would suffer a brain aneurysm from having an OPTIONAL tutorial mode in a video game. And as for Skyward Sword? Let's see, Fi's insultingly obvious helper lines (worse than Navi), less exploration, forgettable NPC's, just to name a few.
Methinks pseudo-intellectual modern gamers such as yourself should stop using the nostalgia argument to justify dumbed down gameplay, forced tutorials, and hand-holding gaming experiences.
Amen to that.
Yeah, this was without a doubt one of my most memorable video game experiences I've ever had. I was completely enamored with it. And I will forever carry the memories close to my twenty beating hearts.

Minish Cap was excellent.
Minish cap is my favorite Zelda game ever. I didn't really get into the 3d ones. A link to the past was cool, I guess.

You are missing Final Fantasy VI - Forever Rachel
Definitely one of the best tracks of the game. Hope the remix for Link Between Worlds will do it justice. Oh god, I love Link to the Past and I'm so hyped about the sequel I forgot to care about the next gen consoles.
You can play it on GBA. Or if you have a Wii or Wii U, get it on the Wii Shop Channel for a mere $8. Assuming you already have the required Classic Controller.

One of the very few games I can complete and immediately start up again because it's so good. My favorite Zelda game made, sorry Ocarina.

I first started this game in 1997; I was only able to make incremental progress over a long period. I didn't finish until 2001. Now I can beat it in a few days (not sure what the clock would come out to in game time; it doesn't keep track like the 3D Zeldas). Maybe it's just because it was my first, but this is my favorite Zelda, though I didn't play OoT until very recently; my feelings about OoT might be stronger if I'd played it when it came out.

Holy crap this soundtrack by Koji Kondo is so freakin good! Every track just feels so epic and so classic ;) And no it's not just nostalgia for me as I only played it for the first time about 4 years ago.

Link to the Past is my second favorite soundtrack for a 2D Zelda game only to Link's Awakening. I love the atmosphere this soundtrack creates with each song done by Kondo. I have yet to play this classic, but i hope to play it someday.

I've personally never been a fan of top down Zeldas, probably since I never played them growing up, only the 3D ones. I enjoyed Minish Cap and Phantom Hourglass a lot, though, which is weird. Probably the music.

This theme is very good, second only to the main Dark World theme itself.
One of my favorite zelda games ever, and will most likely remain one of the best for a long long time.
You're Link, you wake up in the middle of the night during a thunderstorm, you head for Hyrule's Castle, find your mortally wounded uncle who gives you his sword and begin one of the greatest adventures of all time. No need for long, boring tutorials and walls of text, you gradually understand the game's mechanics as you go. I wish I could say we'll ever get a Zelda intro as good as this one, but I unfortunately doubt it. A Link Between Worlds, please don't disappoint!
